MELISSA COULD NOT BELIEVE that Zack was still alive, she was sure the knife in his back had killed him. Seeing him crawling slowly towards Kieran was so startling that she nearly called out.
She quickly stopped herself. She didn’t want to let on to Kieran what was going on behind him and give him a chance to finish Zack off, though she worried that she might have inadvertently given something away through the expression on her face.
To her relief, Kieran either missed the significance of the look on her face, or her expression hadn’t changed as much as she thought. Either way, he showed no sign of being aware of anything other than what was in front of him.
Determined to keep Kieran oblivious to Zack for as long as possible, and preferably until it was too late for him to stop whatever
