Fallen Soldier

All her life Esther had never had such an experience before, she is at the edge of a dying man and she knows nothing to do at all. She even starts crying and sees no point at all in becoming a nun all this time if a person she truly knew and trusted can come to this level. Father Edward enters his room and locks it from inside. He takes off his robe and throws it on the floor.

He goes for his bed but starts having some problem moving. He now knew everything is almost finished, he falls down on the floor groaning so hard. His door is knocked so hard and the knocks continue more randomly as voices are heard behind the door. He lays down on the floor his face facing the ceiling. He starts having memories of him and his family together, his son been taken away from him was his his worst nightmare and according to the court rulling, it rulled in favour of his ex wife.

He now so no point in living since the consequences afterwards were very pathetic and had to bare at all. He had violated the Catholic rule and he was not going to have a better life afterwards so he had no choice but to take away his life. He did not even think about the children in the orphanage at all because all of these were now invisible to him.

They try to knock the door open but all is in vain. Father Edward had taken a fast poison that took his life in a matter of minutes. By the time they opened the door they found him lying at the floor not moving at all. Peter tries reading his pulse and does not get in. The children are left to remain outside not aware about all the commotion and no one wants to explain to them about what is going on at the moment.

Esther quickly runs to her room to grab her phone and dialled an emergency number and raised a call. The doctors said they will be their in about 20 minutes and this did not look good at all since father Edward was now not responding in any first aid he was being given.

Esther remains outside his office as the rest try to do anything to save father Edward.

She even feels guilty and blames herself at some moment but their is no much that can be done at the moment. She goes and sits with the children as they try to comfort her even though they did not understand what was going in. Some had doubts about it and new it all involved father Edward since the cooks and everybody was in his office but they never came to a point and imagined it could be death.

"What is it sister, don't take it all by yourself sister" one kid tries to comfort her.

She wipes her face and stands up. She heads back to the office and what she sees makes her weak and she almost falls, everybody else is crying and Peter who had put so much effort in trying to save the father had given up since he had never at all seen this kind of poison not him alone but everybody else in the room. Father Edward's body was dehydrated and now dry that he could hardly be identified. Everybody was lost of words at all as they wondered what to do. Sarah was also in the room and she could not believe what was happening. Father Edward was the head of the orphanage and without him everything could fall apart. He was the eldest and the only one who was able to make every thing run perfectly and smoothly the way they were at the orphanage.

"Why didn't anybody tell us about this, Esther do you have anything to say for yourself you wicked lady, the police will be here any minute and you will rot in jail!" Magdalena comes out shouting and crying so loud while trying to jump on Esther but she is grabbed by others and held down tight. She could not believe her totally, how on earth could she think that an innocent woman like her was capable of killing a person let alone father Edward who was like a father to her. Esther was so annoyed and she became so bitter with Magdalenas accusations, she never imagined anyone could come to think to that point. Everybody in the room believed her including Sarah who atleast new the reason of father Edward actions since she was in the office in the morning too and also had her eyes on the letter.

"How dare you!" Esther bursts out crying but Peter who is besides her tries to calm her down.

"Forget about it Esther, it is all about emotions, just forget about it, don't even try thinking of it again, everything will be okay" Peter was trying to calm her down but he was also bursting into tears. He hears a vehicle outside and runs out to open the gate. It is the ambulance and he lets them get in.

"Is this the place?" The driver asks

"Yeah, come with me , we have tried so hard but their is no much we could do. He 8s accompanied with four other doctors as they run to where the body was lying.

Everybody makes way for them to pass but the doctors are also shocked by what they see. One of them put on his gloves and bends down to the body to examine it.

"Oh my God,what happened here,i have never seen anything like this before" he takes a look but does not touch the body.

He stands up without doing more.

"There is nothing we can do here except for taking the body but that will happen after the police have examined the cause of death since this is also a serious police case so everyone please clear up the room."
