Lauras life made a big turn after the demise of the love of her and did not know she would come to marry again in her life, she had to make some new changes to her life since everything was never going to be the same after Mr Jackson left. She spend most of her time taking care of her adopted son as she thought what life will become for the two of them. She had sleepless nights thinking about how she will raise this angel that was sent to her despite the situation that she was in at the moment, she believed that everything happened for a reason and kept on pushing with life.
One evening as she was going through her late husband’s documents and belongings, she came across her husbands diary that she had never seen before,it was all covered with dust and looked messed up but it was still usable. She went through the pages and got emotional when she saw that her husbands main wish was to die after sing his baby a fact that was fulfilled no matter how it happened. Lillian decided to pack the things together and kept them in a single wooden box. She went and sat on the veranda with her baby thinking about the next move that she had to make since life in the country side was not going well for the two of them.
From her husband’s safe box was some old pictures of them and a key to some valuables that were safely stored in the bank some miles away in the town. Lillian had to make a life-changing decision to leave to the city and reclaim all Mr Jackson belongings and start a new life with her baby. At that particular moment, in the honor of her late husband’s memory she decided to name the baby Benjamin Jackson, since she believed that she was born through her husbands death.
Having to leave a place that she had stayed for about 20 years of her marital life was one of the hardest decision Lillian had to make in her life, she remembered the days they spend sleepless nights building up the place that they would called home and vowed to spend the rest of their life there. She took a deep breath and decided that this was the moment she made a decision and started preparing for their departure. She had no much money left to sustain her and the baby but decided that they will travel to the city the next day and hoped that everything will be fine afterwards. She prepared some meal for her and the baby as she went through any valuables that she could carry from the house and lit a Small fire next to the door and burnt anything that she didn’t need or felt that will be of no use.
She had thto spend the last night in the house that she had spend almost all of her happiest moments and ended up having all the memories since the day they arrived in the farm to this particular night. She found it hard living the place but she had already decided to leave. Tears rolled down her eyes as she wept silently not to wake up her baby that was lost in a deep sleep. She covered Benjamin and in her deep endless thoughts, she finally had to fall asleep since she was exhausted from the days work.
Very early in the morning she started gathering her things and had Benjamin prepared. She had to make their last breakfast before they left. She locked every single room and took out all the photos in the Wall so that no one could know owner of the house just in case anyone could enter the house afterwards. She locked the main door while carrying Benjamin on her left hand and had a bag full of everything she needed on the floor. She also carried her purse that had a couple of dollars some documents and the bank key found in Jackson safe box. She moved a few steps back and had a clear view of the house one last time before she left. One could tell from the look on her eye that she was not a happy woman but she had to do this.
It was around 9am in the morning as she walked down the deserted road as je hoped for a vehicle to board heading to the city which was a five hours drive. She walked for about thirty minutes till one red truck showed up fully loaded with farm products heading to the city.
“Hey there ma’am!”said the driver as he stopped next Lillian.
“Where are you headed?”he asked politely.
“Am heading to the city” Lillian replied as she stopped by the trucks window and noticed their was not even a single space left in the passengers seat.
“No proplem ma’am it’s so unlucky am out of space and I am heading to a different direction with yours” replied the truck driver.
“It’s okay I’ll keep on walking for a while” she said while smiling and waved to the truck driver as he drove away. Lillian decided to continue walking as she hoped to get a ride to the city since it was becoming so hot and she was heavily loaded. Luckily enough she spotted another vehicle coming the direction she was heading and decided to stop it and this time round it was a lady driving a grey car and stopped.
The lady stopped with a smile on her face and quickly decided to offer Lillian a ride. The young looking lady introduced herself as Lillian and she looked well groomed and said she worked in the city. Lillian felt lucky for once in her life as she enjoyed the ride as they kept on chatting and knowing more about each other. Lillian decided to hide away all her pain as she interacted with Lillian who seemed to be a very jovial young lady. They travelled for several hours as they approached the city. Lillian looked at her sleeping son and said to herself that everything will soon be fine.
