Man and Love

After a long tiresome day Laura and Martin arrive at the city at around five in the evening hungry and exhausted. Laura was only done with one step among all the things that she needed to do in order to settle peacefully and live a normal life with her son. She decided to go in search of the bank where she knew everything ahead including their accommodation will depend with whatever she will find left by her late husband in the bank.

She walked down the streets highly determined, Martin by herside as she asked for directions to the bank she was in search for. Luckily enough Laura is able to find the bank and reclaims all Mr Jackson valuables and the all the money he had saved during his lifetime and it was such a good amount for starting a new life in the city. Laura decided to look for an affordable apartment so as to save the rest of the money for Martin’s education.

Laura finally settles in a simple apartment a two bedroom one and also secured a place for business purposes next to her apartment. Weeks passed by and everything was going on well and Laura finally managed to open a small hotel where she sold some of the most common types of food for a living. She woke up every morning accompanied by her son who could now walk and headed to her work place and came back to the house every evening at around 7 o’clock.

One Friday evening as she was about to close down her restaurant,she noticed her son listening to some music in the TV and singing along to the tune,she remained still and stared at him as tears rolled down her eyes as she remembers how far they had come from and all the challenges they had faced along the way till this present day when they where so settled though not earning enough but at least they were able to eat and sleep at the end of the day. She always had a picture of her and her husband which she kept in her purse and looked at it every single time she thought she was down and stressed and Mr Jackson wors kept on ringing on her head and she knew everything was always going to be fine with them.

Laura closes her restaurant at about 6 o’clock today and heads for home. On the way she comes across some posts about kindergarten schools and details on admissions which were ongoing at the moment and this is when she thought it was the right time for Martin to start schooling.

She grabs one of the postas and goes home and does further research on the best school that she would take Martin for his first classes. She dug in all of her business savings and made a decision to take Martin for admission on the following week. Martin on the other side was a smart and fun loving kid who was always craving for education and this motivated Laura to make thi s particular decision.

“Are you done getting your things together,you are gonna get us late Martin”Laura said as she hurriedly grabs everything she needed one Monday morning during Martin’s admission day

They leave for school very early in the morning both excited about Martin’s first day in school.They arrive at the schools gate and it seems not only Martin was getting admitted that day but several kids had reported for their admission on that day. While waiting for their admission, they sit on a bench as other kids get admitted. Martin who was so excited suddenly noticed a kid next to him and signalled her Mom pointing at the kid.

“Mom look at that girl she’s getting admitted too?” She asked her mom.

“Yeah Martin go say Hi to her” Laura said while smiling.

Martin who was always an aggressive and a jovial kid gained his courage and went and shook hands with the girl.

“Hey,am Martin what’s your name?”Martin courageously asked.

“My name is Winnie” the little girl replied as she hid behind her mother. Both parents smilled at each other as they saw their children interacting.

Later onwards Martin gets admitted successfully and is given all the requirements in the school including the school uniform. Laura was so happy on seing the first child that ever called her Mom starting his education and this being her first time to take her child to school through all these years she had lived.

They head back home, both satisfied with whatever they had experienced in school. Laura was so happy of how their life was becoming and all she wished is that her husband could be part of all this. They both arrive home afrter having a long day and decide to rest as they made more plans of how Martin was to attend school.

Laura decided to prepare a meal for them and as She prepared she suddenly remembered her husbands favourite meal and this is the time she realized that it was her husband’s anniversary since it was now three years down the line since his death. She secretly went to her bedroom and went through their pictures together and this gave her all the clear memory of her loving husband. During this moment she immediately remembered the woman in Martin’s school looked familiar but she could not exactly remember where they had met and this sounded so unusual to her. She quickly went back and finished preparing their meal as she asked herself a lot of unanswered questions. They settled down to have their meal as they discussed everything that had happened during the day.

After the meal, Laura looked at her son and took her hands and said to him.

“My son, I pray that you grow up to be a strong and hard-working man like your dad, despite everything we might face in life never be afraid of anything because I will always be with you and support you all the time through your journey.”

She hold her tightly and hugged him with a lot of joy flowing in her heart.
