We all, Harris, Celia and I, arrive at my house within minutes. I'm getting nervous and am very glad to have Celia nearby.
"Celia should really wait out here!" Harris protests, "We don't know how your parents will react, it could be dangerous."
Not wanting to endanger my friend I give her a questioning look.
"I'll be fine Cara" she insists, "I'll stay in the corner of the room so as not to get in the way". Comforted, I walk into the house followed first by Harris, and then Celia. We all enter the dining room where my parents sit. It is a plain room, nothing compared to the grandeur of Harris' home. The carpet is nothing fancy, but the table is old oak intricately carved with swirling patterns and paws at the bottom of each sprawling table leg. My parents look up at me, then in surprise at Celia and Harris, who stand supportivley beside me. My father scowls at Celia before turning back to me.
"What is the meaning if this Cara?" He demands, sounding irritated already. I take a deep breath. "Please listen." I beg rationally. They nod, I signal to Celia that she should move away, but she shakes her head and touches my arm reassuringly, this is not what we agreed! But I'm grateful for it. "Mother, Father. I am." I just stop, the words don't come out. Harris nudges me and my mother raises an eyebrow. Both parents are now standing, facing me head on. "I am homosexual." A long pause follows before my mother let's out a nervous chuckle. She thinks I'm joking. Then her expression solidifies as she realises this is not a joke.
"How long?" She interrogates shakily, with an unfamiliar dangerous edge to her voice. I don't answer, because I know the truth is forever. "It was HER wasn't it," my mother continues disgustidly.
I shake my head "No mother-" I plead.
She interupts me, uninterested in my words. "She's corrupted you!"
"We're not together I squeak, she's not gay!" I'm clutching at straws, neither parent cares. My father steps forward, towering over me. He wolven eyes glinting through the human, showing yellow rims. "Cara." He says sternly and raises his hand. I realise what he will do too late. But Celia was ready, diving in front of me before my father's hand landed it's mark. She was smaked down with his super strength and I back away in horror. Harris is also shocked and tries to take charge, pushing me behind him he tries to reason with my dad. I am amazed that my dad ignores an alpha. He pushes Harris to the side, he is not hurt and advances on me. Fur begins to spread as he turns, first his feet to paws, then hind legs take shape, it spreads over him like wild fire, till he is a wolf glaring at me. I cower, ashamed, scared, preparing for my punishment. Harris is in shock, I can see him trying to help me, but he is rooted to the spot, frozen. My father rears his massive head and tries to bite my exposed neck. But my poor weakened, brave Celia once again takes the blow for me. I scream out, as does she, I see her pain, how it sears through her body. It sears through mine in the same way, I weep, but Harris jolts into action pulling me away, though I try to reach Celia, quashing my pain.
He drags me all the way to the forest, where I collapse in a heap, and I wonder.
Is Celia alive?
