He could see the rugged San Gabriel mountains in the distance. But the breathtaking views that Sunday morning didn’t distract him from his singular purpose. He dialed a disguised number on his cellphone while nervously glancing through the sliding glass patio doors to ensure that his wife wasn’t within earshot. “Hey babe, glad to hear from you.” His baritone voice seduced the female caller every time she answered.
