With the passing of time, Layla remembered her promise to Jeannie to give her high school sweetheart, Roland, a chance again. In some sense, Layla unconsciously felt like she was being unfaithful to Leon if she did. But in several heartfelt calls throughout the intervening days, Jeannie reassured her that Layla wasn’t in a relationship with Leon and had no commitment to him.
