Lost in this World

Chapter 4

Cedes-

Our fingers brushed against one another when he paid his bill. It was so electric, it felt like little sparks erupted across my skin and my body felt calm suddenly. I looked at Eli and I wasn’t sure he felt the same thing or if it was just my imagination. His eyes went black and back to blue, I’m definitely not imagining the eyes changing at this point.

“ So, Cedes” Eli says and it brings me out of my little moment. “yes Eli?”. “Since, I’m visiting do you think you could show me around a bit later.” OMG at this point my body is like pulling me towards him like it craves for his touch. “There isn’t much too show in our little town but sure. Meet me by the center of town around 4.” “It’s a date than I will see you than.”- Eli states as he walks out with his coffee and cakes.

I get off work around 3, so I figure 4 because than I will have time to run home and fix myself up a bit. I had been so occupied with Eli that I hadn’t even noticed Sara & Grace watching the whole encounter unfold. When I looked at them, Sara wiggled her eyebrows and Grace stepped forward.

“So.. Cedes, who’s the cute boy you were talking too? He seems to fancy you a bit..” Grace says as she is coming closer to me. “ His name is Eli, he said he’s visiting his cousin in town and we are meeting in town later so I can show him around I guess.” Grace looks over to Sara and it almost looked like they were communicating but without talking. I shake it off, today seems just to have some peculiar things happening that either I never noticed before or it must be a full moon happening soon.

Sara speaks up, “hey Cedes, Mom and I were talking earlier and since we’ve both been hard at work that we can leave early today and relax a bit. Maybe we can go down and find a new outfit for your date”. Before I’m able to even answer, Grace is already pushing us out the door and telling us have fun and be safe.

Be safe? There’s 50 people in town, we’ll 51 including Eli unless he brought someone else with him. My mind wanders back to his blue eyes and i start daydreaming of what a man like him would be like in all kinds of ways.

Sara and I decide to go to one of our favorite little shopping crannies. Mrs. Allison runs it and I swear she always has the best deals and super adorable clothes. I find a pair of white ripped up fitted capris and a black fitted tshirt with a vneck. I spot the cutest pair of black suede sandals that wrap around the ankle. As I go to ring out, Mrs. Allison tells me not to worry about paying, consider it a part of my early birthday gift. I say thank you so much but my birthday isn’t for another two weeks. She tells me, “ well I guess I have two weeks than to find the most perfect gift for you sweetie.”

Sara ended up finding a cute yellow summer dress and paired it with a set of light brown flip flops. We start walking back to my apartment and I smell it again. The scent from earlier, Sara ask if I’m okay and I tell her that all day I have been smelling this amazing scent. She looks at me almost puzzled and goes, “ do you feel different? What does it smell like because I’ve been smelling something all day too!” So I tell her how I’ve been smelling strawberries and mint, and than tell her how when I was close to Eli how my body reacted how it was relaxed, and calm. Sara finally comes out of her thought I’m guessing because she zoned out after I told her this. She said she keeps smelling, campfires and lavender.

I don’t know where she is smelling her scents from but I don’t smell a campfire anywhere near us nor do I see smoke anywhere. Out of no where, Grace comes running up to us and says we need to get into the house now. No time to talk, we need to go now! Lock the door and don’t open it for anyone!
