Chapter 5

Grace is still pushing us along as Sara and I are running up my stairs. Sara keeps looking back at her mom and I keep looking between both of them. I don’t understand what’s going on, I’ve never seen either of them looking so scared. I’m scared because I have no idea what is occurring. If there was a fire, why would we run into a building? Only thing I can think is wild animals, maybe?

Sara’s POV

My mom came running towards us outside, screaming for us to get inside and lock all the doors. I link my mom while we’re running and ask what’s going on?! She links me and says “Rouges.”

We haven’t had an attack since after Cedes was brought to us 19 years ago. We were the witches, well my mother was, the one who helped Cedes’ parents to help cloak them and hide her. We know her wolf will be awakening soon like in a week and the week following, she will shift. Mom instructs me to get Cedes hidden and bind the windows and door. Before she cuts the link, we say our love yous and she tells me, “your mate is here and so is Cedes’.”

My mate.. I never really thought of my mate. My mother is full-blooded witch. My grandparents are still very much alive as my father is as well. My father is werewolf. Since my parents are given mates, my mother was able to acquire linking. My wolf came on my 20th birthday. Same as Cedes’ wolf will. Yes I am part Royal Wolf but, I’m also Royal Witch Blood. My mother and father along with the King & Queen felt we were the safest option to keep their daughter.

I had never thought I would have a mate being a hybrid. My wolf, Leah, says I’m just as strong as a full wolf but I also have my magic. It’s like a double whammy. Since I am a hybrid, I am solid black and have a star on my forehead but my star is not white. My star is gray. Leah nudges forward and says, “ we need to protect C and think of mate later.” She is right. C doesn’t know how different her world is about to become.

We get into Cedes apartment, and I turn around and lock the door. Before I have a chance to explain anything, I hear the growling getting closer. I have no time to explain to C what’s coming our way or what I’m about to do. I can explain after. Her safety is first and foremost. I can feel my magic start to surge and I see it flow from my fingers over the door, windows, and any little crack of the entire apartment. It coats the walls, ceilings, anything my magic will touch.. it’s now covered double than before. When she first moved her, we did a simpler protection spell but now with the rouges we needed stronger. I just hope I can explain this to her and she not flip out.

When I’m complete, I turn and look at Cedes. Her eyes are wide open and looking right at me. Before I’m able to say anything she says, “ So you’re a witch? Does that mean your mom is as well? Does anyone else know? Am I one? How can this all be real? I must be hallucinating..” Hey Leah I nudge at my wolf, I think it just might be time to tell her what’s happening and who she really is.
