Chapter 31 – A Moment Alone

410 Words
The day after the Festival of Lights, Isabella decided to take a quiet walk along the campus riverbank, hoping for a moment of peace. The night had been magical, but her heart was still tangled between Leo’s bold charm and Ethan’s gentle care. As she walked, Ethan appeared, carrying a small bouquet of wildflowers he had picked from the campus garden. "Isabella… I thought you might like these," he said softly, offering the flowers. Isabella’s chest tightened at the gentle gesture. "They’re beautiful… thank you, Ethan," she replied, smiling softly. They walked together along the riverbank, talking quietly about their classes, dreams, and shared moments. The intimacy of the walk, coupled with Ethan’s calm presence, made her heart ache with tender longing. Suddenly, Leo appeared from the opposite path, jogging lightly, his eyes immediately finding hers. "Isabella!" he called out, waving as he approached. "I didn’t expect to see you here." Isabella’s cheeks flushed as she realized she was now caught between two boys yet again. Leo’s bold grin and playful energy made her pulse quicken, while Ethan’s soft smile and gentle care grounded her heart. Leo stepped closer, teasing, "So… are you out here with him? Or enjoying a quiet walk alone?" Ethan’s calm eyes met Leo’s briefly, then turned to Isabella. "I’m just making sure she’s okay," he said softly, his tone gentle but firm. Isabella’s heart raced. Two boys, two ways of loving her, and she felt completely torn. She wanted to reach out to Leo, but Ethan’s hand still lingered near hers, warm and reassuring. Finally, she took a deep breath, whispering softly, "I… I don’t know how to choose… when both of you make me feel so alive, and so cared for." Leo’s grin softened, though a spark of jealousy remained. "You don’t have to choose yet," he said quietly. "Just… don’t forget how much I care." Ethan nodded, squeezing her hand gently. "And I’ll be here, whenever you’re ready to decide." Isabella’s chest ached. The river flowed quietly beside them, reflecting the golden sunlight, but her heart was anything but calm. She realized one undeniable truth: her feelings for both Leo and Ethan were equally strong, and the path to choosing would be one of laughter, tears, and heart-pounding moments. As the three of them walked along the riverbank, Isabella whispered softly to herself, "How can I ever choose… when my heart belongs to both of you?"
