Chapter 2 – Sparks of Rivalry

431 Words
The next morning, Starlight University felt even busier than usual. Students rushed to their classes, laughing and chatting, but Isabella couldn’t focus on anything except the two boys who had captured her heart. Her first class was Psychology 101, and she hurried inside, hoping to find a quiet spot in the back. But of course, fate had other plans. Leo Santos was already there, sitting casually in the front row with that infuriatingly confident grin. He waved at her, and Isabella felt her face heat up. She hurried past him and chose a seat on the far side of the room. Then came Ethan Delgado, walking in calmly with a book in hand. He noticed her almost immediately and gave her a small, encouraging smile. Isabella’s heart fluttered. How was it possible to feel this way about both of them? As the professor began the lecture, Isabella tried to focus, but the subtle competition between the two boys made it nearly impossible. During a class break, Leo leaned toward her and whispered, "So… you’re coming to basketball practice later, right? I’ve got something special planned." Before she could respond, Ethan appeared at her side, offering her a bottle of water. "Hey, I thought you might be thirsty. Also… do you want to grab coffee after class? I need to talk to you." Isabella blinked. Both boys—at the same time—competing for her attention. Her heart raced. The rest of the day continued in the same chaotic rhythm. Leo would find excuses to sit near her in the library, tossing playful comments and teasing jokes. Ethan, on the other hand, showed his care in quiet ways—helping her carry her books, leaving encouraging notes, and offering genuine advice. By evening, Isabella was exhausted, not from studying, but from the emotional tug-of-war. She sat under the old oak tree near the campus fountain, trying to sort out her thoughts. "Why do I have to like both of them?" she whispered to herself, tears of frustration threatening to fall. Suddenly, she felt a shadow beside her. Leo was leaning casually against the tree trunk, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You know… you don’t have to decide today," he said smoothly. Before she could reply, another shadow appeared—Ethan, standing quietly but firmly, his warm smile softening the tension. "But sooner or later, you will have to choose," he said gently. Isabella looked between them, her heart caught in the middle. Two hearts, two worlds… and one impossible decision. The rivalry had only just begun.
