The morning after the Sports Festival, Starlight University felt unusually quiet. Isabella walked through the campus courtyard, her mind still replaying the events of yesterday. The cheers, the victories, the way both Leo and Ethan had shone… it was almost too much for her heart to handle.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Hey, Isabella!"
She turned to see Leo, leaning against the railings of the courtyard balcony, basketball in hand. His confident grin was impossible to ignore.
"You looked amazing yesterday cheering for me," he said, teasingly. "I think I played even better because I knew you were watching."
Before she could respond, Ethan appeared, jogging lightly from the opposite side of the courtyard.
"And don’t forget my run," he said with a soft smile, holding out a bottle of water for her. "I’m pretty sure you cheered louder for me, too."
Isabella blinked. There they were, again—both vying for her attention in their own way. Her cheeks flushed, and she laughed nervously.
As the week went on, the subtle competition became impossible to ignore.
In class, Leo would find ways to sit next to her, whispering jokes and drawing her into playful banter.
On the track and court, Ethan would catch her gaze after every sprint, his quiet encouragement making her heart flutter.
In the cafeteria, they both tried to sit near her, offering snacks, teasing remarks, and lingering smiles.
Her friends began to notice.
"Isabella, it’s like they’re competing for you," one whispered. "Are you even aware?"
Isabella shook her head, a mix of frustration and excitement bubbling inside her. "I… I like them both," she admitted quietly.
One afternoon, the tension reached a new level. Leo approached Isabella with a basketball tucked under his arm.
"Hey, how about a little challenge?" he asked, playful and daring. "Winner gets… bragging rights, and maybe a date with you."
Before she could protest, Ethan appeared from the sidelines, a grin tugging at his lips.
"Challenge accepted," he said calmly, but there was a spark in his eyes that made Isabella’s pulse race.
The friendly competition wasn’t just about sports—it was about who could win her attention first, who could make her heart skip more beats. And though she tried to stay neutral, deep inside, Isabella realized that her feelings were growing stronger for both of them—each in a unique way that made choosing feel impossible.
As the sun set, casting a warm glow over the campus, Isabella sat alone, quietly sighing. Her heart ached with excitement and confusion.
"How am I ever supposed to choose between two people who make me feel so… alive?" she whispered to herself.
The battle for her heart had only just begun.
