Chapter 19 – Accidental Encounters

436 Words
The morning after the rainstorm, Isabella tried to focus on her studies, but her mind kept replaying Leo and Ethan’s confessions from the previous day. Every glance, every word, every touch from both boys tugged at her heart in ways she couldn’t ignore. She decided to visit the campus café for a cup of coffee, hoping a quiet moment might calm her racing thoughts. To her surprise, she found Leo already there, casually sipping a chocolate drink, his hair still slightly damp from the rain. "Hey," he said, grinning as soon as he saw her. "Care to join me?" Isabella hesitated, then nodded, sliding into the seat across from him. The warmth of his smile made her heart flutter, and for a moment, she almost forgot everything else. They talked, laughed, and shared light teasing, the atmosphere between them comfortable yet charged with unspoken emotions. Isabella felt herself drawn to Leo’s bold, playful energy, and she had to admit that being with him like this was thrilling. Just as she was about to relax, the café door opened—and Ethan appeared, holding a cup of coffee for himself. His calm eyes immediately found hers, and a soft smile curved his lips. "Isabella… I didn’t expect to see you here," he said, setting his cup down beside her. Leo’s grin faltered slightly, replaced by a flash of jealousy. "Well… she’s with me," he said, trying to sound casual but clearly protective. Ethan raised an eyebrow, unruffled. "She’s free to be with whoever she wants, Leo," he replied softly. "I just wanted to say hi." Isabella felt her cheeks flush. Two boys, two hearts, both here, and her emotions spinning out of control. She realized how much she cared for both, and the thought of choosing between them felt impossible. The three of them sat in tense silence for a moment, before Leo finally broke it with a teasing laugh. "Looks like we’ll just keep bumping into each other, huh?" Ethan smiled faintly, nodding. "Seems like it. And maybe that’s not such a bad thing." Isabella took a deep breath, realizing that these accidental encounters were only making her feelings stronger. With every moment, every shared glance, her heart was being pulled in two impossible directions—one toward Leo’s daring charm, the other toward Ethan’s quiet, unwavering care. As the morning sun filtered through the café windows, Isabella whispered softly to herself, "How can I ever choose… when every moment with both of you feels this real?" And deep down, she knew the rivalry, playful yet emotional, was far from over.
