Chapter Fifteen

Jack I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. Still groggy I rolled over and flipped it over to see who was calling. Andrew. I sat up in bed immediately wide awake. "What'd you find?" I asked him. "I don't know man I really can't believe you never thought of this Amelia angle before. I think your completely right, I think she could be the key to Andersons downfall." he told me. "She did have a falling out with the family?" I asked. I knew deep down it was horrible for me to feel giddy about this information being confirmed but, I couldn't help it. For years I have been forced to live under Thomas Anderson's thumb and now it was like I could taste, sweet release on my lips. Freedom. Justice. Revenge. "Yeah, I mean it looks to be that way. I couldn't find any concrete reason why it actually happened just some speculation in an article. They interviewed an old maid who used to work for the family. Apparently she was fired the same night that Amelia took off. I think shes a great start. She may be one of the only people who knows the truth." he told me. "What do you mean before Amelia took off?" I asked. "I found documentation, whatever happened between her and her family it was serious enough she left with nothing. She checked herself into a local homeless shelter. She lived there for two weeks before she found a job and roommate. Now she's living alone in a one bedroom apartment on the west side in New York." he replied. "She went from being the most promising up and coming lawyer in the city of New York to a banker at some local no name bank." "You're telling me the daughter of one of the most successful men in the entire world just left everything behind to live in poverty?" I asked completely shocked. "That's what I'm telling you." he replied. "You gotta find out what happened and see if we can use this." Something in my gut twisted. I had never met a woman like Amelia. In just the short time since we had met she had left an impression on me. So free and giving with her smile. So genuine in her character. It felt wrong to scheme against her. "We could take him down without it." I replied. Andrew made an exasperated noise on the other side of the line. "You f****d her last night didn't you?" he asked. "No of course not!" I replied a little too quickly. I only wish that I had. "You were the one who called me and told me to look into her. It was your idea to try to use her." he replied in angry tone. I love Andrew, I had brought him on as a team member almost a decade ago. He is one of the only people in my life I can count on to set me straight when I stray from the path. "You're right." I agreed running my hand over my face. Of course he's right, we've worked for this for years. This could be the break we finally need. "Of course I'm right. Now, go out there and find out what happened." Andrew told me. "Oh and do me a favor?" he said as if he had forgot something right before we were about to hang up. "What is it?" I asked. "Don't f**k her. You tend to get attached to the women you f**k. It's gonna be hard to bring down her daddy's company if you end up developing feelings for her. Keep your eyes on the prize. We are too close for you to screw this up thinking with the wrong head!" He told me. I cringed inwardly. "I won't." I lied. And quickly before he could say anything else I said. "I'll call you when I get new info." And hung up. I got out of my bed and hopped in the shower. Standing there under the hot spray I couldn't help but, think of that moment in the drawing room when she had drawn up her legs beneath her. I felt myself harden remembering the way she had reached up with her long slender fingers to rub her the curve of her neck. I reached down and took myself into my hand stroking softly as I thought about the sexy white sundress she had worn last night. Once I f**k her ill be able to get her out of my head. I told myself after I had c*m thinking of her t**s bouncing while she rode me. I went down to breakfast and found her standing in line. She was fresh faced again, perfect pale skin free of any makeup. She wore a pair of sweatpants and a tanktop as if she had just rolled out of bed. I could see the lacey little black strap of her bra, and the outline of it underneath the thin fabric of her shirt. Between seeing her ex and mine our morning had been chaotic but, still she wore a wide smile. I had felt her initial reaction to seeing her ex, when she gripped onto my forearm I could feel the tension in her entire body. The look in her blue eyes was like that of a frightened animal debating flight or fight. What happened between the two of them? Then when she had seen Alice she had warned me giving me a few seconds to prepare myself. Truth be told if I had not just seen Amelia react to her ex I might not have been able to hold myself together. Whatever they had gone through Amelia was able to smile in his face. That made me want to be strong enough to do the same. Alice had put me through hell but, that didn't mean that she had won. She had tried to ruin my life and she failed. I'd find a way to return the favor. "Well I need to go feed my hungover friend." Amelia said standing from our table suddenly. I glanced down at my watch. Had we really been talking for a whole hour? "I'll see you in an hour?" "You will." I told her before running up to my room to get ready. The groups gathered in the lobby an hour later. I stood for a few moments looking for Amelia before I saw her walking from the elevator practically carrying the red head I had seen her with before. I had just started crossing the lobby to help her when a slender man with brown hair about Amelia's age crossed right infront of making a b-line right for her. The two girls looked up at his approach, the red head smiling. I felt undeniable jealousy bubbling up within me. Until I saw him grab the girl from Amelia. They exchanged a few words in passing but, they didn't seem to be friendly at all. I stood watching from a distance as the man walked away with the red head. I tried to think back on what Amelia had said yesterday while listing the bridal party. They must be... Lizzie and Colton? I'd make sure to verify. I stood at a distance watching her. She scanned the lobby with her beautiful blue eyes a small smile appearing on her face. Is she looking for me? I felt my heart begin to pick up with anticipation as I watched her gaze slowly swing twored me. When they landed on me her face lit up in a crooked goofy grin that made something deep in my stomach twist. She waved and immediately began to walk in my direction. It was like time was slowed as she moved. Anticipating the hike she had changed into a sensible outfit. Military style combat boots, a tan pair of cargo pants, and a white wife beater tank top. She was freshly showered, I could see her hair was still damp. I watched as a bad of water shining in the morning sun ran down from her hair line right between her cleavage. Skyler ames must be out of his f*****g mind. I thought to myself as we exchanged greetings and prepared to load up into the resort vans taking us to the hiking trail. We climbed into the van and sat next to eachother on the bench style seats. The benches were barely large enough to fit two people so we were squished in close. For a second she looked like she was contemplating finding another seat. She looked back to see all the other seats filling behind us. "I think this is going to be fun." I whispered leaning in so close my lips almost touched her ear. I saw the blush creeping up her cheeks as I pulled back. It made me smile. A huge genuine grin. Ever since I had met this girl, I was smiling more than I had in years. Suddenly a dark thought crept into my mind that soured my mood. She won't be smiling when she finds out I've been planning to double cross her. I thought.
