The Wedding Date

Chapter Fourteen

The next morning everyone met for breakfast at the resort. I had just left an extremely hung over Lizzie. The better part of my morning had been spent trying to nurse her back to health. Now, my plan was to eat something quickly and take something back up to my room for her.

"You're going to be sick if you go," I told her. She dragged herself across my bed, her hair was a giant red rats nest ontop of her head.

"I have to go. Please, I'll do anything." She begged reaching over to chug the water I had brought for her this morning.

"You really think going zip lining when you can't even hold down water, is a good idea?" I laughed. Apparently I had been too loud because I saw her cringe at my volume.

"I don't care. I am not missing it." she groaned.

"Fine. Go get in the shower and I'll go get us something to eat." I told her.

"Thank you!" She screeched mock crying. "You're so good to me."

This morning, I felt good. Standing in line for the buffet style breakfast I found myself humming softly. I wondered when I would see Jack again.

"Good morning," I heard a deep sexy voice say in a soft tone. I turned to see Jack behind me flashing me a cool sexy smile like he was summoned by my thoughts. I turned back quickly as if I had been observing something I strained my neck to look around the tall blonde man infront of me.

"Good morning." I replied flashing him a small smile.

"You look beautiful this morning," he whispered stepping in behind me in line. I looked back at him incredulously. I crossed my arms turning to face him.

"What do you want from me?" I asked him.

"What makes you think I want something?" he replied. I laughed poking him in the chest.

"Last night you accuse me of trying to seduce and this morning your smiling at me and calling me beautiful?" I asked him poking him on the chest as I spoke. He looked down on me with a sexy smirk.

"I guess that could be a little confusing. I just decided you were right. Maybe we should get to know eachother." His eyes were filled with fire as he spoke. It took my breath away. Something within me felt like it was awakening seeing that look in his eyes. I reached my hand up to clutch my racing heart. He's trying to seduce me?

"Why would you want to get to know me?" I asked him. Hasn't he heard the rumors about me?

"I think any man in his right mind would want to get to know you." he replied his smile widening. His smile is absolutely breathtaking, his teeth dazzling white. A dimple appeared in his left cheek when he smiled wide.

"I wouldn't be so sure, pal." someone ahead of me in line snapped. We both turned to see who was speaking.

Standing a few feet from us, the tall blonde man, turned out to be Skyler Ames. I was so shocked by the sight of him I clutched onto Jack's arm instinctively. I had not seen the man since he had tried to rape me. My eyes scanned him and immediately landed on his nose. My hand that was not clutching onto Jack went to my mouth in shock.

Everything about Skyler was the same except one important detail. When he attacked me and I had fought back I must have done more damage than I thought. Because Skyker was sporting a brand new nose paid for by his daddy. I had been so afraid to see him again. I had spent countless hours toiling over what could happen. Now he was infront of me with that ridiculous thing on his face and I realized I wasn't afraid of him.

I couldn't stop the laugh building within me. His new nose did not fit his face at all. It was big and oddly sharp. He looked like a witch from a child's cartoon. Soon, I couldn't hold back my laugh anymore and I just set it free.

It was a genuine sound. Breathless I couldn't help myself. The moment I start laughing Skyler's face twisted and with every second I laughed I could see his rage building. I watched as the red crept up his neck, making me laugh even harder.

"What the f**k are you laughing about?" he hissed.

I gasped for air between fits of laughter. I leaned on Jack using him to hold myself up.

"You paid someone to do that to your face?" I asked when I had finally recovered enough to speak. I tapped my nose as I laughed to be sure he knew what I meant. The look on his face when he heard my question made me start laughing again. Jack clutched my arm as if to say 'okay I think that's enough'.

"Your lucky I didn't send you the f*****g bill." Skyler hissed snapping me from my laughter like he had thrown ice cold water on me. I gripped Jack's wrist pulling his hand away from my wrist I dropped both of his hands. I crossed the short distance between Skyler and I getting right in his face.

"Send me the f*****g bill." I whispered careful only he could hear me. "I f*****g dare you."

When he stared back at me with venom in his eyes and not fear I whispered, "I'm sure that the court would like that."

His eyes grew wide like I had hit him. He jumped back out of line drawing the attention of others. Without a word he looked back and forth between Jack and I aside he were trying to decide whether or not he would defend me. Little did Skyler know I didn't need anyone to defend me anymore. I had spent the last six months not only strength training but, I had been taking jujitsu classes. I could take down a man twice my size. Deciding he didn't like his chances of success he walked away without a word.

"Wow, that was incredible." Jack said a few minutes later. I had already forgotten the interaction with Skyler. I knew I had nothing left to fear from him and so he held no power of me.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"I could only hope of handling an interaction with my ex so well." he replied filling his plate right behind me. As we stepped away from the buffet we started walking around looking for an empty table. I paused for a moment processing something in my mind.

"Is Skyler a groomsman?" I asked him. He looked at me with a curious glance.

"Of course, why wouldn't he be?" he asked. I ignored his question chasing my train of thought.

"If Anne and Cheyenne are paired with the twins, your paired with me, Lizzie with Colton, Amber with Isaiah." I listed as we found our seats. He knodded along. Then he paused as if registering what I was trying to say. As if on cue I spotted a blonde in the distance mingling with the others amoungst the bridal party. I recognized the butterfly tattoo on her left shoulder.

"So, who is paired with Skyler?" he asked aloud I knodded along with him.

"I think you should prepare youself." I told him.

"Prepare myself for what?" he asked.

"An interaction with your ex." I told him knodding my head in her direction. His eyes grew big but, he didn't turn his head to look.

"You're serious, aren't you? She's really here?" he asked. I knodded eyes following her as she made her way through the crowd. I saw which way she was headed.

"She's coming this way." I told him.

"Oh f**k me." he cursed under his breath and straightened in his seat.

I thought for a split second she might actually pass us by. She approached heels clicking loudly as she approached. She had almost walked right past our table but, stoppd midstride when something caught her attention and she stopped. She scanned her eyes over Jack. She did not look suprised to see him. Then her eyes landed on me. Her face scrunched up in annoyance. She turned her entire body to face me as if Jack were not even there.

"What are you doing here?" She hissed. I smiled at her.

"Hello, Alice. Long time no see. How are you?" I asked her smiling wide.

"What are you doing here?" She asked again.

"You mean, what am I doing at my own sister's wedding?" I asked her picking up a hot piece of hashbrown and popping it into my mouth. "I'm eating breakfast."

"What are you doing here with this b***h?" She asked sounding like a spoiled child she turned to Jack.

"I think she just told you, Alice." He said smiling wide at her, making her jaw literally fall open. "We were having breakfast before you rudely interrupted."

"Jack you can't-" she began before he cut her off.

"Have a good day, Alice." he said in a flat tone. She made an offended noise before marching away like a child an angry child. Face red, arms crossed. As soon as she was out of earshot I whispered.

"Now that was incredible!" I told him.
