When I touched Winters hand I felt a shock. She obviously felt it too since she jerked away a little. It feels right with her next to me. Why I feel so comfortable next to someone I hardly know I have no idea, but I like it. I've never felt so happy with anyone before in my whole life. Everything about her is right. "Where's your schedule?" She asks softly. I grab it out of my pocket and hand it to her. She unfolds the piece of paper and looks it over slowly. "I don't know why he did it, but Principal Bailey put you in all the same classes as me." She says blushing. I look at her smiling. "Is that a bad thing?" I ask curiously. "No, it's fine, it's just a little odd." she says. "So where are we going first?" I ask her, but before she can answer we hear someone yelling. "Winter! I've been looking everywhere for you! Where have you been!?" We both turn to see a really tall guy running towards us. "Hey Evan, what's going on?" "It's Dawson, he's trying to fight Jake again." The guy named Evan says. "Not again," she groans, "Wanna help break up a fight on your first day?" She laughs softly trying to lighten the mood. "Anything you need I'll do." I say. I'm not entirely sure why I said it like that. It wasn't wrong. I'll do anything for her no matter what. I'm not sure why though. That's what is confusing me. Evan and Winter both stare at me for a moment then Even takes off and we follow him to where this Dawson kid is. He must be important to her if she's running to help him. I sure hope he's not her boyfriend. By the time we stop running we've made it to the football field where a smaller guy with blondish white hair like Winters and a really big guy who looks to be a quarter back with slicked back black hair are standing nose to nose fist balled up ready to fight. The smaller guy turns and looks at us. I'm guessing it's Winters brother with how close the resemblance is. "Stay out of this Winter! This doesn't concern you!" He yells out. "Oh, but Dawson, it does concern her." he turns and looks at Winter, "We were just walking and I was informing my friends about my plans for the pep rally when your sweet little shrimp of a brother here decided to jump in and tell me that my plans aren't going to happen and if I tried he was gonna pummel me." Everyone began staring at him waiting for him to continue. "What are you talking about, Jake. You have everything you want and more than you deserve. What else could you possibly want?" She says staring in his direction. If looks could kill, he would have been sliced into a billion pieces already. The way she looks at the Jake guy seems like she's had a bad history with him, and with the sounds of things, she wishes he would disappear. "Now if I do that," he says with a smug grin, "then my plans won't be a surprise now will they?" He finishes, chuckling softly. "Don't tell me you plan to harass Winter again to where she doesn't come to school just to avoid you." Evan speaks up. The tone in his voice is deadly. This Jake guy seems like a complete jerk who thinks he can get whatever he wants. He won't hurt Winter again if I can help it. "It's not harassment. All I do is ask her out. Everyone knows I don't take 'No' for an answer if it's not the answer I want, and if she continues to tell me no, then I'll continue to bother her until she says yes. No one is gonna stop me until I get what I want." He says is the nastiest tone I've ever heard. Almost as if venom was seeping from his mouth and he's trying to pass it off as candy. All I could see was red. Before I could comprehend what was happening I was standing where the Jake guy stood and he was laying flat of his back holding his jaw and spitting out blood. I took a step back and flexed my hand, shaking it a little. All I know is he crossed a boundary with what his intentions are. I looked around, everyone was staring at me again. I look at Winter and find her standing there, no emotion, no movement other than her breathing, her eyes were locked on mine. She looked as if she was unsure of how to feel, so she just felt nothing. Her eyes shift to the ground and they grow wide as if in fear. When I turn around I see Jake begin to stand up. I take a few steps back to get out of his arm length then just look at him, waiting for his reaction. He moves his hand from his jaw and I finally see exactly how hard I hit him. His lip is split open with blood pouring out and a large bruise forming along his cheek and jaw. "What have I done?" I say to myself.
