KHIONE CYRA
It was 1 p.m. and I was staring at myself in the mirror. I swallowed thickly, nervous about spending time outside with my new friends.
I wore a pair of gray sweatpants, a cute blue cropped shirt, my white sneakers, and put my hair up in a half ponytail. I also applied a little bit of makeup to hide my hideous pimple marks.
I don't look like myself right now.
I took a deep breath and grabbed my white shoulder bag. I looked at Reika, who was reading a book.
"I'll leave for a while. Do you need me to bring you anything?" I asked, holding onto the doorknob.
Reika hummed in thought before saying, "Maybe some skincare? I need a face wash. You can choose for me."
"Alright. I'll be back later." I bid before shutting the door and walking down where my dad was waiting.
We got in the car and as I fastened my seatbelt, my dad began mouthing off. He said that I should always be careful and be aware of my surroundings. I rolled my eyes and looked out the window.
I'm a grown ass adult. I know what I should and shouldn't do.
When we arrived, I saw Michie with her boyfriend, Max, waiting in front of the theater. I got out of the car and bid my dad goodbye. I waved at Michie and she waved back. Max greeted me and I smiled at him, too shy to even speak.
"We're just waiting for Raidon. He told me he'd be here soon." Michie clicked her tongue and I giggled.
"Maybe it's just the traffic?" I said and Michie huffed.
After few minutes, Raidon arrived and I forced myself to look away. He was wearing a pair of gray sweatpants, a fitted black shirt, an open black jacket, and pair of expensive looking shoes. His hair was slightly messy and damp and my palms were sweating at the sight.
Does he have to look this good? In such simple clothes, too!
"Am I late? I was at the gym earlier and lost track of the time." Raidon chuckled.
"Yes. You're late. Let's hurry!" Michie said and linked arms with Max.
Raidon and I followed behind them and noticed that we were watching a horror movie. We grabbed our snacks and drinks and made our way to where the seats were.
We were sitting at the middle part of the theater so we had a better view of the movie. I sat between Michie and Raidon. I looked around and Michie giggled.
"What? Scared already, KC?" She teased and I playfully slapped her arm.
"No. I'm not. I was just looking to see if there's a lot of people." I said.
"If you get scared, you can grab my arm, you know?" Raidon chimed and I glared at him.
"I won't do that." I scoffed and he just shrugged.
A few minutes later, the movie started and I shifted in my seat, getting more comfortable. The opening of the movie started and I swallowed thickly.
The movie can't be that scary, right?
°°°°°°°°°°
I was so wrong. The movie was scary and I squealed for the nth time today. Michie was already hugging her boyfriend, squealing, and I tried my best to look away, but it was no use. I could still see what was going on.
We weren't even halfway through the movie and there were several jumpscares already. I was tempted to cover my eyes, but I wanted to look cool so I didn't.
On a particular scene, I jumped from my seat and hid my face on Raidon's arm. I squealed.
"Oh my gosh! That was so gross!" I mumbled against Raidon's arm. He chuckled before stroking my hair.
"Come on, Khi. It wasn't that bad." He comforted me and I glared up at him.
"There was too much blood, Raidon. It was so gross." I hissed at him and glanced at the screen again. I was clinging to Raidon at this point and I didn't care. I just wanted some human presence to make me feel safe.
I squealed, "Oh my gosh. It's behind her! She's gonna get hit!"
When I predicted right, I hid behind Raidon's arm again and he laughed. I playfully slapped his chest with a free hand.
"Michie was right to invite you. s**t. You're screaming a lot." He teased.
"Stop teasing. It's just too scary." I whined and peeked at the screen, watching again.
°°°°°°°°°°
After the movie, Michie stretched once we got out the theater. I shuddered and saw Raidon laughing with Max.
"What the heck, Max? Are you laughing at me?" Michie asked, pretending to be offended.
"I'm so sorry, babe. You and KC are just too funny. I mean, you're screaming 3 minutes into the movie." Max said in between laughs. He walked towards Michie and kissed the top of her head. Michie huffed.
"It was scary, though. She was hit from behind." I shuddered at the memory of the scene.
Max and Raidon's laugh died down and Raidon approached me. He smiled at me and I narrowed my eyes at him.
"You're too cute for horror movies." He said and I was about to slap his arm, but he caught my wrist.
"Stop hitting me already. I think I'm already bruised." Raidon gave me his puppy eyes and I huffed, yanking my wrist from his hold.
I turned around, feeling my face heat up at the brief contact. I fished out my phone and was about to text my dad, but Raidon tapped my shoulder.
"I'll give you a ride home." He offered.
"You serious? I mean... my dad can just pick me up." I said.
"No. I insist." He said and after thinking thoroughly, I agreed. I texted my dad that Raidon will take me home and he replied with a simple like.
I turned to Michie and smiled, "Thanks for inviting us. It was so much fun."
"Yeah. No prob, girl. Anytime. Let's watch more movies in our apartment soon, ok?" Michie hugged me and I giggled.
"Sure. See you at work, Michie." I bid and she waved at me.
I rode Raidon's black Lincoln and I gasped in awe.
"Wow. Your car is so amazing." I admired how sleek the inside was and it was also so clean.
I wonder how many girls have sat in his car.
"Yeah? I earned the money for it so I think it's worth it." He said and we began to drive off.
I told him that I need to make a quick stop at Target and he agreed. When we arrived, I immediately walked to the skincare section and looked at the face washes there.
"Do you still need that? I mean... your skin is already good." Raidon commented.
"It's for my sister." I replied.
"Well. If it isn't Little Miss Perfect." The voice caught me off guard and I slowly looked up to see Joelle sneering at me. I blinked and my mouth opened slightly.
Fuck. Of all people to meet here, why this b***h?
"I see you've finally moved on with a new man. How despicable." She scoffed, smirking at me.
"At least I've moved on with a man who is single. I didn't steal him from someone else." I retorted. This triggered her and she gasped dramatically.
"Just so you know? Jase loves me. I know he still does and I was only helping him see that he deserves a woman, not a child." She reached out and tried to pull my hair. I closed my eyes, waiting for her to yank my hair, but I didn't feel pain.
I looked up and saw Raidon in front of me. He was holding Joelle's wrist.
"Would you not make a scene? You're embarrassing." Raidon said coldly.
Joelle yanked her hand back and she huffed, stomping her cheap heels. I sighed in relief.
"Thanks, Raidon."
"Don't let that pathetic woman hurt you, understand? It pisses me off." He groaned and crossed his arms over his chest.
My cheeks heated up and I felt the tip of my ears turn red.
What the f**k? Stop it, heart. Stop beating so loudly.
