KHIONE CYRA
When I got home, I didn't talk to my dad for the rest of the night. I was so annoyed that I ate dinner in my shared bedroom with my sister, took a shower, did my skincare, and finally lounged on the bed to read my book.
"You and dad had a fight?" Reika asked, carrying two bowls of ice cream. She handed me one and I gladly accepted it.
I put down my book and sighed, "He saw Raidon's arm around my shoulder and already judged the guy. I told him he was a friend, but he said things that I didn't like so I got annoyed."
"Typical. He's always like that. You know how he is." Reika said, taking a bite of her ice cream.
I shoved a spoon in my mouth and huffed, still annoyed.
"Can't he just be glad that I'm finally making friends? It's so hard to live here without knowing anyone and having a friend or two eases my anxiety." I ranted and my sister nodded.
"Yeah. Having friends makes living here a little easier." She said and then silence enveloped us.
My phone chimed and I glanced to see who texted me. It was Raidon. I placed my bowl between my legs and read his message.
Raidon: Sandra texted me and asked if I'll be picking her up tomorrow. T^T
Me: Just tell her to meet you at the coffee shop. HAHAHA
I smiled to myself and continued eating my ice cream. I sighed and finally felt calmer than earlier.
I knew ice cream can heal everything.

The next day, I woke up early and asked my cousin to drop me off to work because I was still upset with my dad.
"You're still upset with him?" She asked, chuckling.
I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest, "Of course, I am. I mean... can't he just be happy that I have friends now?"
"He'll understand soon. For now, just try to let it go, yeah?" She said and I sighed.
There's nothing I can really do, but to let it go.
Once she dropped me off, I waved at her as she drove off. I watched her car disappear before entering the shop. I was surprised that it was already open despite the early hours of the day.
I walked to the staff's lounge and saw Michie buttoning up her uniform. I placed my bag in my locker.
"Good morning, Michie. You're early today." I said and she hummed.
"Yeah. Max went out to the gym early. I couldn't sleep well without him by my side so I decided to just go to work early." She said and added, "Also, Sandra's not around so I'll have a little freedom behind the counter."
I smiled and nodded in agreement. Sandra was like the boss when it came to making coffee. Michie and I seldom touched the coffee machine because it was Sandra's domain according to Michie.
"True. She can be intimidating when it comes to making coffee." I said and closed my locker.
Michie and I headed out to the front and I began cleaning and arranging the table and chairs. Michie, on the other hand, sorted out the counter.
Just as I was sweeping the floor, the front floor chimed and I looked up to see Raidon entering. He wore a crisp black suit, hair slicked back, and face glowing.
Oh? Looks like someone had fun last night.
"Good morning, sir. How may I help you this morning?" I teased, clasping the broom tightly.
Raidon looked at me, shocked, before laughing, "Don't do that! I'm not used to you saying that to me!"
I giggled and turned around to glance at Michie, who was already scowling at the sight of Raidon.
"KC, make his coffee. I don't know how that jerk's taste bud is like." Michie spat out, making Raidon pout.
"That's rude. I'm sure you already memorized my order since I've been here since... forever." Raidon whined as he sat on the stool by the counter.
The seat near the edge of the counter is his usual spot.
I placed the broom aside and walked behind the counter to make Raidon's drink. I glanced at Michie and noticed that she was making coffee. I looked at Raidon who was now busy with his phone. He looked so different as he typed on his phone, looking so serious.
"So... don't forget about your date with Sandra later, alright?" I teased as I waited for the coffee to brew.
Raidon groaned, "Please, don't remind me. I was hesitating to leave the house earlier. Also, I haven't used my apartment in ages. I don't know what state is it in now."
I raised a brow as I poured the coffee on a cup. I glanced at him, "What do you mean? You don't live in an apartment?"
"I did when I first got the job in the company, but I moved in with my parents for some time now because I was... having a hard time living alone." He sheepishly laughed and rubbed the back of his neck.
I hummed and nodded, "We're not the same, then. I was hoping to move out soon."
I finished making the coffee and slid it towards him and he looked at me as if I said something weird. I realized what that look meant and audibly gasped.
"Don't get me wrong, ok? I love my family. I really do. It's just... sometimes they're overbearing and I feel like they're putting shackles on me." I explained, waving my hands in front of me to clear the misunderstanding.
"That's the same for me. That was the reason I moved in with Max. My parents are crazy. Like... really crazy." Michie chimed in and handed me a cup of coffee which I accepted.
I took a sip of the coffee and moaned in delight. It was the right amount of sweetness and bitterness.
"I'm lucky because my parents aren't like that. They supported my decisions and didn't force me to do anything that I didn't want to." Raidon said, smiling as he took a sip of his coffee.
Lucky him, then.
"So the engineering course wasn't the parents' choice?" I asked, rubbing a thumb on the hot cup of coffee.
"Nope. I really wanted this profession." He puffed out his chest and Michie scoffed.
"You're just bragging because you got a license and a decent job." Michie snapped and turned on her heel.
I giggled when Raidon murmured something to himself while watching Michie leave.
"Oh s**t! I'm going to be late for work." Raidon startled me out of my thoughts and I watched him grab his coffee and fix himself.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Khi! Don't worry! I'll keep you posted with our date. See you, Mich." Raidon hurriedly left and I watched him dash through the door.
"Honestly, I don't know if that guy is just dumb or an asshole." Michie sighed.
I smiled and giggled, looking down at the cup of coffee in my hand.
Maybe he's a little bit of both.
I finished my coffee and started to do my work. I cleaned the counter top and the shelves. Just as I was about to go into the storage room, Michie grabbed my arm and pulled me aside.
"What is it?" I asked, looking at her phone.
"Natasha is Raidon's ex girlfriend, right?" Michie asked and I raised a brow at her.
"Uhm... yes? Why?"
"There's this event where models are attending and guess who Natasha's date is." Michie made sure to keep the suspense as I curiously looked at her.
"Don't tell me..." I trailed off, having a hunch on who the said date might be.
"Yes. You are correct, my dear friend. It is none other than her ex boyfriend, Raidon." She said and for a moment, my heart sank.
He didn't tell me he'd be his ex girlfriend's date for the event.
