KHIONE CYRA
It's been days since our movie hangout. Raidon has been pestering me the past few days everytime he grabs his coffee before work. It was fun bantering with him, but the glare we were getting from Sandra was scary.
I sighed as I arranged the cups properly. I was cleaning the whole morning and I finally felt tiredness wash over me.
Only a few hours left and I'll be home soon.
"Geez, KC. I didn't know you'd arrange the cups in such an organized manner. I wouldn't want to use them now." Michie chimed behind me and I looked at my work.
"Is it? I don't think it is." I hummed in thought as I stared at the cups.
As Michie and I stared at my handiwork, Raidon's voice was heard from afar. I looked to see him wearing a white button up shirt and black slacks. His hair was slicked back yet it looked messy and hot.
Wait. What? Did I just thought Raidon was hot? No. No. No!
I blinked a couple of times before turning around and pretended to be busy arranging the bottles of syrup and coffee.
"Hey, guys! How're you today?" Raidon greeted cheerfully.
"Tired as f**k. I just want to go home right now." Michie replied, groaning as she walked past me and into the storage room.
"I'm tired, too, Rai, but I manage." Sandra said sweetly.
"How about you, dear friend? How are you this afternoon?" He teased, chuckling and ignoring Sandra. I knew he was talking to me so once I calmed down, I faced him and smiled.
"I'm good. How about you?" I asked, wiping the counter.
"I'm so f*****g tired. Everyone was so fussy and busy today. I only managed to get off early because the higher ups have a meeting." Raidon complained.
"I never got the chance to ask, but... what company are you working for?" I asked.
"Oh. I work at an engineering company." He simply stated and I raised my brow at him.
"What specific company?" I pressed further.
"That's a secret, sweetheart." He said and laughed. I could feel Sandra tensing at the mere mention of the nickname. I swallowed thickly and huffed.
"Don't call me that." I hissed, slightly annoyed and slightly giddy when he called me 'sweetheart'.
I heard Sandra clear her throat and asked, "So... I'm off tomorrow, Rai. Do you... want to go out? Maybe... a movie date or coffee?"
I glanced at Raidon and he was frozen in his spot. I saw him turn to me and I had to hold in my laugher because he looked like he was asking for help. I turned to the counter and entertained a customer, but at the same time, still listening on their conversation.
"Uhm... I have work tomorrow and well... I'll be a bit busy." Raidon reasoned.
"That's alright. We can hangout at night. After your work, maybe? In your... apartment?" Sandra said sweetly.
I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing and smiled at the customer. I made her drink and heard Sandra whine a soft 'please'.
"Why don't you give her a chance, Raidon? Just one night won't hurt, right?" Michie chimed and I giggled quietly, my back turned to them.
"But I'm working tomorrow and I might do overtime so... I don't know." Raidon said and almost begged Michie to stop encouraging Sandra.
"Am I that ugly? Don't you want to go out with me?" Sandra sniffled and I was surprised with her chosen method.
I didn't know she could do that. Acting, I mean.
"Alright. Fine. Let's go out for a movie. I'll text you when I'm free." Raidon sighed and Sandra squealed.
"Yay! I finally have a date with Raidon! I'll see you tomorrow, then!" She skipped to the staff's lounge room and I looked at Raidon as I handed the customer her coffee.
"It's not even tomorrow yet and I'm already dreading it." He groaned, laying his head on the cold counter.
I chuckled and fixed up his coffee, "Just give her a chance, will you? You never know. You might like hanging out with her."
"Khi. I talk to her everyday even before you started working here. Not even once did I find common ground with her! When I talk about myself, she'll make an excuse to talk about herself, too!" Raidon complained and I smiled at him.
"Well... just tell me how it goes." I giggled, pushing a cup of coffee in front of him.
He hummed and took a sniff of the coffee, "Your coffee smells really good. I mean, I like Sandra's coffee, but this. This is just perfect."
"You're such a smooth talker, you know that?" I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Oh? You just noticed? Am I finally getting through you? Do you find me attractive now?" He teased, talking excitedly.
I laughed, "Keep dreaming, lover boy."
Raidon huffed and proceeded to drink his coffee. I did the rest of my work before I finally got to go home.

Once I walked out of the coffee shop, I saw Jase with Joelle walking towards me or... the coffee shop, to be exact. I was internally panicking, but then, a heavy arm draped over my shoulder.
"You waiting for your dad?"
I looked up to see Raidon, smiling down at me. I sighed in relief and smiled, nodding. From my peripheral vision, I noticed Jase looking at us and his eyebrows knitted together.
Raidon leaned down and whispered on my ear, "Just pretend I'm saying something to you. Let them walk past us."
I blushed when I felt his warm breath brush against my ear. I nodded and I knew Jase saw how red my face was. He knew I was easily flustered and I relished the thought of him being jealous and mad.
When I heard the door of the coffee shop open and close, I sighed in relief. Raidon didn't lift his arms from my shoulders and I did not mind.
"Thanks. You saved my ass back there. I wouldn't know what to say if he approached me." I said and Raidon placed his hand on my head, comforting me.
"No problem, sweet pea. I'll save your ass anytime. As a good friend, of course. Oh! You should've seen his face. He looked so mad, but he couldn't approach you so he just lowered his head." He laughed and I laughed along.
"Wish I could've seen that and sure. Please do save my ass everytime." I said and I finally saw my dad's car pull up.
Raidon nodded at my dad when they looked at each other and removed his arm from my shoulder.
"See you tomorrow, Raidon." I bid and he nodded at me.
"Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow, Khi. Take care." He bid.
When I got in the car and fastened my seatbelt, I looked out the window and waved at Raidon. He waved back and smiled at me.
"Who was that guy?" My dad asked once we drove off.
"Just a regular customer who became my friend. He's really nice." I simply said, happy that I finally had another friend.
"Friend? He has his arm around your shoulder. I'm warning you. He can have other motives." He said as if accusing me of lying.
My good mood deflated and I looked at him, slightly annoyed.
"Dad. Friends can be buddy buddy with each other. It's not even a big deal. He just has his arm around my shoulder." I said, pissed. I plugged in my earphones and looked outside the window, eyebrows knitting in annoyance.
"I'm just saying. Guys these days can be deceiving. Also, he doesn't even look like a friend with how he acted." He said and I groaned.
I hate it when my dad always think badly of people. Raidon is just a friend and there's nothing he can do to change that.
