The Treaty

I woke up earlier than I normally do though I was able to fall asleep easy I was awoken by my weirdest dreams all through the night. I kept seeing a blinding light and hearing people screaming. There were Vampires and Witches running from the light while other people were descending from the light. Just thinking of the dream made shivers run down my spine. As I walked into my changing chambers I was met by Silver. Her silver hair was still wet and she was wrapped in a towel. "Well good morning Princess, your up earlier than usual," she said as she looked my way. "You know you don't have to call me Princess right?" I asked her ignoring the comment about how I was up early. I wasn't ready to talk about my dream yet. I wasn't sure why but I just couldn't shake it, the dream felt to important to real. "Yeah I knew you wouldn't like it just makes me want to call you Princess all the more," Silver responded with a small giggle. She knew how to get under my skin that was for sure. But apart from when we were kids we never really fought. She was my best friend and nothing would change that. "So why are you up so early?" I asked and seen a small blush run across Silvers cheeks as she finished drying her hair. She turned away but I already knew "Oh so your up for a date with the mystery guy again huh?" I walked over to her and began pulling her hair into a french braid. "When am I gonna find out which man stole the heart of my best friend?" I asked teasingly. She shook her head in response. "We are just talking he hasn't even asked me out yet," she stated honestly losing all the confidence she had earlier and her voice becoming small. "Well he would have to be pretty stupid to turn down such a beauty as you," I said a smile plastered on my face. "You really think so," she asked so quietly I almost didn't hear her. I just looked at her for a second she was beautiful and if she was more confident she would have every boy in our clan wrapped around her finger. I leaned in close and whispered, "I really think so." Before I walked off and began to get myself ready to go meet with Grandmother Willow. It didn't take me long to get ready I didn't dress fancy just a simple long blue dress. I thought about wearing something fancier but decided that if I was just going to the garden there was no need. I didn't even bother wearing shoes as I loved the feel of the grass that spread across the floor of the garden. Though only the royal blooded witches were allowed to use their magic to grow everyone of the witches was held responsible for taking care of the plants and animals and luckily it came naturally magic or not. I entered the garden and made my way all the way to the back till I reached what the witches called the royal garden. It was full of gorgeous flowers of all kinds. Grandmother Willow sat on a bench next to some yellow roses as I sat beside her she looked at me and said, "Lily loved yellow roses, so much so that she named her baby sister Rose." She looked sad talking about my mother and it had been a long time since I had heard anyone use her name. "You really are the spitting image of her," Grandmother Willow stated. "Ah, how I wish she was here to help me now," Grandmother Willow said more to herself than to me. "I am here now, I can help you," I told Grandmother Willow. She simply shook her head and looked back at the yellow roses. I felt so bad for her I wish I had known my mother, and hurt from the hole of not having her but I couldn't imagine how it felt to lose a child. "You can't help me tell you the news I have to tell you," she said as she looked back at me with sad eyes. She was starting to scare me but I refused to let on to it. I raised my chin and looked in her eyes waiting for her to tell me whatever it was that had her so sad and worried. After a moment of looking in my eyes I seen the emotions in her green eyes change from sadness to confidence. "The Vampire King and I signed a treaty stating that his son the Vampire Prince would marry the next Witch Princess crowned," she said all in one breath before she lost her confidence. I let her words sink in I was to marry a vampire prince... I had never been the romantic type and had never really thought about dating but now that I learned I would never get to marry for love my heart sank in my chest and a pit grew in my stomach. "I have to marry the Vampire Prince," I whispered to myself. Before Grandmother Willow could say anything more I ran to my room not stopping for anyone or anything till I made it, then I closed by big wooden door before throwing myself into my bed crying for a love I never really had.
