A Mother's Gift

I don't know when I fell asleep but when I did the same dream I had before had returned. Witches and vampires began to run in fear as the roof of the grand hall came crashing down and a blinding light came from up above. People began to drop from the light clinging to ropes I stood my ground as the first one out landed on our taverns ground. "Hey guys," he yelled up above. Then suddenly I was awake and Grandmother Willow was sitting beside me on my bed. "Your mother started having the dreams right after she was crowned too," she said. I looked up at her I hadn't noticed before but there were grey streaks in her red curly hair and the wrinkles around her mouth and eyes were deep. Signs that my Grandmother was aged and ready to retire as Queen. "The first one she had was of your father and she knew then that she would marry him," Grandmother Willow continued. I perked up at the mention of my father all I knew was that he was a warrior who died fighting rouge vampires along with Silver's father. "I see you are interested in learning about your father and I would love to tell you the all about him but unfortunately now is not the time," she said sadly. "So what are these dreams I keep having?" I asked Grandmother Willow. "The dreams are visions sometimes of the future and sometimes of the past," Grandmother Willow answered. "So you could see the future?" I asked kind of nervously. I had heard the rumor that my Grandmother could see the future but had always thought that it couldn't be true. I figured if it had been she would have stopped her daughter from dying which meant I would have never been born. "No I was never blessed with the gift your mother was the first but to protect her I claimed the visions were my own and when she passed I claimed that her death caused me so much pain that the visions stopped coming," Grandmother Willow said and I could hear the pain in her voice. "Why would it be dangerous if people knew my mother had visions?" I asked as I started to feel silly here I am asking question after question like a small child... "It was during the time of the rouge vampire attacks the rouge vampires would have kidnapped your mother and used her as a weapon," Grandmother Willow yet again answered my question not sounding the least bit annoyed. I simply nodded my head it made sense if my mothers visions started the moment my she was crowned same as me she was only 16 and was in no shape to battle yet. "Have I answered all your questions for now?" Grandmother Willow asked me and again I nodded. "Good because there is much to discuss and prepare for the Vampire King and Prince are on their way here to meet you," she told me and started to get up. When I didn't get up after she gave me a look and I quickly got up to follow her. She guided us through the underground chambers until we reached her room. She opened her wooden oak door and made her way in but I stopped at the door. I had never been in my Grandmothers room I could tell it was big from what I could see when looking in through the door way. My Grandmother noticed me standing at the door and yelled from somewhere inside her room, "come now we don't have much time." With that I walked into her room it was huge basically me and Silvers room combined into one with a walk in closet and an attached changing chamber. Her room matched mine in the sense that it was decorated in maple wood and emerald green but everything was just bigger, from the vanity to even the bookshelves and even her trunk. I looked around and found that Grandmother Willow was in her walk in closet as I entered she was pulling out a tiara from a small box. "This is the tiara your mother made herself I wanted you to have it," she said as she handed me the tiara. It was beautiful the silver metal resembled vines that grabbed at the green emeralds it wasn't very big but it was perfect. "I know traditionally you would create your own tiara but seeing as your mother passed I figured that this one would make you happier. Do you like it? " Grandmother Willow asked. I looked up from the tiara and at my Grandmother Willow with tears in my eyes and said, "It's perfect no other tiara could ever compare." My Grandmother Willow then smiled at me and took my hand leading me back to my own room. When we reached my room I asked "so how long do we have till the King and Prince arrive?" Before I got my answer Silver and her little sister Melody entered my room. My Grandmother simply winked at me before taking her leave and I found myself at a loss. Never did I ever imagine that I would ever get to have a relationship like this with my grandmother. All I could think is that this was the best gift Mother Earth could ever give me as I watched my Grandmother leave.
