Kristy Monelea Point of view "Thank you so much mama. I will bear in mind everything you've said." My big sister replied. She hugs me tightly before she withdraws from our hugs. I inhale deeply to calm me down and tilt my body in front. I saw how tight my mom embraced my big sister while my father is standing silently on the left side of my mom and big sister. My father is not a showy person, but I know deep inside he is very sad too. He is not crying but I know his heart is aching. "Always protect yourself baby." My mom's murmuring. "I will mom. Thank you." My big sister replied. She withdrew from the embrace and turned to face our father. "Pa, I don't need to see you cry in order to know that you are also sad and worried about me. I can see in your eyes how much you opposed my decision, but you don't want to stop me. Thank you for your consideration papa." My big sister said before she hugged my father. "I won't stop you, my child instead I will support your every decision. You didn't give me any reason to stop you. So please follow your heart. Do your job and be successful. " My father said. I saw how a single tear poured out in my father's right eye. Witnessing that scene makes me cry again. My father pat my big sister back lightly without saying anymore. Like what everyone said, action speaks louder than words. "ALL THE CHOSEN PEOPLE TO WORK IN THE ALPHA'S REALM WILL HAVE TO HURRY. IT'S TIME FOR OUR DEPARTURE." Someone shouted. I take a peek at that man and I don't know what he is based on his clothes, he looks like an enforcer. I saw that many were now walking heading towards that man. He was standing beside the door of the bus. One by one, people who are chosen to serve inside the Alpha's realm are now walking inside. "Baby girl." I shaped my head from that view and faced my big sister who are calling me. "Big sister, are you going on that bus?" I asked her the moment our eyes met. "Yes baby. It's time for me to leave. Be good and be obedient to our dear parents, okay?" She said and then lowered her head to kiss my cheeks. "I'm sad," I said to her. "I know. Me too, but I will come back soon. Just wait for me." She replied to me. I nodded and hugged her for the last time. Before she walked heading to that bus, she embrace my parents first and smile at us. She was waving both her hands and showing us her beautiful smile before she left. ONE YEAR LATER "Kristy!" I was sitting on my bed while sketching my sister's beautiful face in my old notebook until I heard my mom's voice calling my name. "Yes mama?" I asked. Still inside my room. "Can you please call your papa and tell him we are going to have our breakfast now." She said. "Okay mama." I said before I closed my notebook and placed it above my mini table beside my bed. I stretched my legs to touch the floor. Before I left my room, I did not forget to look in the mirror to see if I had something on my face but there was none, so I continued. I saw my mom preparing our meals in the kitchen. My mom is a very beautiful woman, even though she has some wrinkles on her face indicating that she is already old, but her image still has not changed. "Good morning mama." My greetings to her as I walked heading her way to kiss her cheeks. "Good morning baby." She greeted her back. "Where's papa?" I asked. "He was on the farm." My mom replied. "Hmmm. I will call him now. Bye mom." I said before walking outside our home. I'm humming while walking heading into the farm where my father is. Sometimes I close my eyes because the wind is very bumpy as it bumps into my body. I feel great inhaling the fresh air. After a few minutes of walking and I am now on our farm, standing under the mango tree. I saw my papa was planting something in the soil. He was wearing long black sleeves, blue pants and a big hat on his head, typical of a farmer. "PAPA!" I shout. In just a second, he snapped his head to look in my direction. I waved my left hand and he did the same. "IT'S TIME TO EAT OUR BREAKFAST." I shouted again. I have to shout in order for him to hear me clearly because our distances are far from each other. "I WILL FINISH THIS FIRST." He shouts back. "I WILL HELP YOU PAPA." I offered a hand to my father. "NO NEED DARLING. I ALMOST DONE. JUST WAIT ME THERE, OKAY." Papa said again. "ARE YOU SURE?" I tried to assure my father but he didn't utter another word and just smiled at me and continued what he was doing. I roam my sights in the farm. My eyes filled with a green color. It's so fresh and peaceful to look at. A lot of birds are chirping, the winds are so great when they bump on my body, the sun shines so bright to give us all the energy, it's still early in the morning, so the sunlight is not too bad on the skin, different kinds of plants and trees are dancing on the air. "Let's go darling." I looked at my side and saw my father is now standing beside me. "Let's go, papa." I said, and we started walking, heading back to our small home. Our farm is not that far from our house so we got back here in just a few minutes of walking. "Mama, we are here." I immediately informed my mama the moment my feet touched the door of our home. "Wash your hands so we can eat now." My mom said and we instantly did what she had said. We are now gathered in the dining area. My mom leads the prayer. After that, we start eating our breakfast. We are silent at first, not until I start to move my lips. "I miss my big sister." I whispered in the middle of eating. "All of us baby." My mom replied. I bowed my head and focused my eyes on my plate. Tomorrow is my birthday. I will turn 18th tomorrow and I want her to be there. "I want to see her, her beautiful smile again." I said to my parents. I'm not sad but my tears are pouring voluntarily. My tears drop straight onto my plate. "It's okay baby. I know how much you miss her, just like how much we miss her too. I don't want to give you high hopes, but please understand her if she can't make it tomorrow. You know how much your big sister loves you. If there's a way, I'm pretty sure she will come and see you." My mom said slowly. "I know that mama. I know she loves me very much, even though I know, I can't help to feel sad, I can't stop my tears from pouring out. I just can't." I whispered while crying silently. "Aws! My poor baby. It's okay, let's pray that she will be here tomorrow. There's still time, so don't lose hope yet baby." My mom said, trying to ease my sadness. I inhale deeply and exhale slowly. I tilt my head upwards and wipe my tears using my fingers. I am now facing them and they are smiling at me. "Stop crying, okay? Or else we were going to burst our tears too." My mom's joke. "I will stop crying." I said while sniffing. "Let us see our daughter's beautiful smile. Come on baby girl, show us your pretty smile." My father said in a teasing tone. They are smiling so widely, so I can't help not to smile too. I really love my parents, who always give me joy everytime I am sad.
