The Mirage of Desire & Silent Promises
Noor’s life had always been like a straight line—transparent, peaceful, and filled with hope. She believed her dreams were her true identity. Her first day at university felt like opening the door to a whole new world. She never imagined that within this very world, there would be someone who would wound her soul forever. When she met him for the first time, the sky was overcast with clouds, as if nature were warning her of the impending storm. But at that time, Noor’s eyes held only the shimmer of hope.
The First Meeting
She was standing outside the university library, struggling with her books, when she saw him for the first time. There was a strange magic in that man’s eyes, a magnetic pull that Noor had never experienced before. He picked up her fallen book with a smile and handed it to her. That moment felt as if time had stood still for Noor. "Be careful, these books are very precious," he said in a deep voice. Noor merely nodded, her words seemingly vanished. She didn't know that these "precious books" and this very meeting would lead her into a quicksand from which there would be no return.
That meeting wasn't just a coincidence; it was the beginning of the torment that would eventually erase Noor’s existence. Every word, every smile of that man was building a new home in Noor’s heart. Noor, who used to think only about her studies and career, now remained lost in his thoughts. She began to feel that perhaps she had found the life partner who would support her in the flight of her dreams. But she had forgotten that a mirage always looks like water from a distance, but upon closer approach, it is nothing but scorching sand.
The Silent Promises
Friendships grew deeper, and the cycle of conversations became longer. From the corners of the library to the university cafeteria, they made thousands of promises that were never meant to be fulfilled. These were "Silent Promises"—vows made through the eyes and felt in the heart. "I am always with you, Noor," he had said one evening under the setting sun. Noor trusted him blindly. She staked her honor, her parents’ pride, and her entire future on that man.
He convinced Noor that their relationship was pure and that he would soon send a marriage proposal to her home. Noor had woven a paradise of dreams where there were only flowers. She forgot that there are no roses without thorns. She began meeting him secretly, away from her parents' eyes, thinking that one day everything would be alright. But those silent promises were actually the prologue to her destruction. When that man was with her, Noor didn't care about the world, but when she was alone, a strange fear would grip her heart—a fear that had now become her permanent companion.
