Nevaeh

I was about to head back to Yana’s house when I noticed something. Something moving in the darkness. My eyes narrowed to try and see what was there, and then I thought of something. My magic. I opened my palm and saw it glowing like a light bulb to see a massive brown wolf crouched down in an attack position.                 “Oh fuck.” I turned and began to run back to the pack village.                 I could hear the wolf behind me, but I wasn’t sure I was going to make it now. Suddenly I was slammed into and sent to the ground. I looked up through my pitch-black hair that was loose from it’s braid, and saw the wolf inches from my face. It then glanced to my neck/shoulder area, and then back to my violet eyes. I swallowed hard and did my best to keep from seeming scared.                 Confused on what the wolf wanted I began to slide backwards on my butt, at least until it snapped its large jaws right in my face.                 “Okay. I won’t move.” I said inhaling deeply to try and calm my heartbeat down.                 It leaned in and snapped its jaws again. I let out the breath and shrugged to indicate I didn’t know what it wanted. Suddenly the wolf began clawing at my tights, ripping them and my flesh. I put out my hand to stop it.                 “Calm down, I’ll take them off.” I said moving to slide them off, trying to keep my dress down covering my assets.                 The wolf then did a head gesture, but I didn’t understand. I shook my head again, and it started pushing me with its snout. This way and that until I was nearly on all fours. After another snap of its jaws I turned to be on my hands and knees.                 Still confused, I looked over my shoulder at the wolf. Then it put its snout to the back of my thigh and I jumped from the sudden touch. I think it was then I realized what was going on. The wolf nudged the bottom of my dress up higher and higher until it grabbed a hold of my panties and literally bit threw them.                 “No! What the hell!” I shouted as I went to get up.                 A sharp pain shot through my thigh causing me to cry out. The wolf nipped the back of my leg and made it bleed. It growled, and after letting out a slight huff I got back down on all fours and closed my eyes.                 ‘Now would be a good time to shift us.’ I said to my spirit who was just as horrified.                 She shook her head. ‘I can’t, I’m too weak. What about your magic?’                 I let out a sigh as a tear fell from my eye. ‘I’ve been trying, but…nothing.’                 ‘Call for our mate. He’ll come.’ She said wincing when I felt the wolf lick the bite it gave me.                 Can’t hurt to try right? I took a deep breath, and with everything I had I let it out. “Sterling!”                 The wolf nipped me again quickly while growling. I didn’t even feel it that time. The only thing I felt was the wolf mount me from behind. I shook around under it to keep it from successfully penetrating me, but it only lasted so long. The wolf leaned down to nip my neck and I couldn’t help the scream the echoed through the woods.                 ‘This is it, babe. When this wolf finishes, I’m going to…’ I said quietly to her.                 My spirit nodded. ‘I’m with you no matter what. At least after we’re dead, we won’t hurt anymore.’                 I let out a deep sigh. ‘Exactly. This isn’t going to be easy, so, go to the back of my mind and I’ll handle this. It’s okay.’                 Something made me open my eyes. I don’t know what, but I’m glad I did. When I opened them, I could see a gigantic black wolf with one grey blemish on it’s right shoulder coming for me. I smiled a little and felt my whole body relax.                 “Sterling…”                 He launched himself over me and tackled the wolf off me. While I was busy fixing my dress, Sterling was ripping the brown wolf into pieces. When I was done I tried to get to my feet, but was face to face with venomous green eyes. I didn’t even think about it. I reached out to grab his wolfy face in my hands and snuggle my face into his.                 “Thank you.”                 I felt him lean into my touch as several wolves joined us. Probably coming to help their Alpha. I didn’t care though. His eyes then went to my neck and let out a deep bone shaking growl, causing the surrounding wolves to tremble and bow their heads.                 My hand moved to cover the bite mark, but when he snorted I let it fall away. He took a step forward, sniffing it for a second then began to lick the wound. I flinched from the pain, but then it was replaced with something else I really didn’t need with no panties on and surrounded by others. When he was done he looked to his Dire’s and snorted again, and within a few seconds we were alone.                 I watched the last wolf strut off before glancing to a now human Sterling. “Was that one of your Dire’s?”                 He shook his head. “No, it was a loner that decided it was going to risk its life to copulate with you.”                 “He was nearly successful. I should have listened to you and went back to the village. I apologize.” I said feeling slightly stupid for ignoring his earlier warning. Then the realization hit me. “Did it mark me?”                 Sterling nodded. “He tried too, but I healed it. Only a true mate can heal and permanently mark its partner without consequence.”                 “What would have happened if it was left?” I asked from pure curiosity.                 His iris’s darkened before he composed himself. “You would eventually go mad and become a feral wolf. I should have killed him slowly…”                 I smiled. Seeing this delicate side of him was…eye opening. “Sterling?”                 He glanced from the mutilated carcass of the brown wolf back to me, and I took the element of surprise to plant my lips onto his. Instantly feeling my spirit inside melt with glee. I pulled away and glanced off into the trees, hoping he couldn’t see my bright red face or smell my growing arousal.                 “Nevaeh.” He said under his breath.                 I didn’t look though. “If I look I might…”                 “Give in to me?” He asked, already knowing the answer.                 “Yeah, and we can’t. I can’t. I won’t be hurt again.” I said knowing I was about to cry again.                 His thumb wiped a stray tear from my cheek. “Who hurt you like this? Just the thought of being with me brings you to tears.”                 I swallowed hard and went to stand. “You won’t under…”                 Then I remembered what Yana said. Maybe he would?                 ‘Give him a chance, give us a chance to be loved, Nevaeh. It’s your choice.’                 “You don’t have to tell me anything tonight.” He said leaning forward to scoop me up in his arms. “You’ve had a rough time, and I’m mostly to blame. Let’s get you back to the village.”                 I nodded, and felt instantly sleepy. “Sterling?”                 “Yeah, little one?”                 I tried to shake away the sleep, but it wasn’t working as I laid my head against his bare chest. I wasn’t even sure if my next sentence coming out was what I wanted to say. “I…was abused…foster family said…had a devil inside me…so many scars from them…”                 Sterling stopped walking to really get a good look at me, and that’s when he saw them. All over my skin, scars littered it in nearly every place he looked. “Fuckin hell…I’ll make sure no one ever leaves a scar on your skin again. I promise.”                 But, I didn’t hear anything. I was already asleep.
