Chapter Nine Well clear of both the alley where they had been attacked and of Andru’s, Kriss and Tevera separated. “You promise you’ll search the computer,” he said to her as he released her hand. “Yes,” she said. “And you promise you won’t tell Andru I was with you tonight.” “I promise.” “It may be a while before I can leave the spaceport again,” Tevera warned him. “I’m not going anywhere,” Kriss said, with more than a little bitterness. Tevera nodded and headed for the spaceport, soon vanishing in the shadows. Kriss made his way cautiously back to Andru’s, lingering down the street for a long time until he was certain his attacker wasn’t waiting outside.
