The universe must be playing with us.
"What the f uck..." I cursed under my breathe.
It was our time to shine but the world said no, stop. It wasn't the right time to cause chaos in front of the Empress's rusty tower. The day will come where destroying their gate won't be enough, but rather the whole Achlys.
That was what I engraved inside my mind to halt myself from exploding due to extreme annoyance.
These Pixies... They really picked the wrong person to play with.
"Were you trying to destroy my property?"
A sudden event took over. The Empress of the Achlys suddenly appeared in front of us while Terran and Deniz were in the position to attack her gate.
They probably saw what was coming for them. We were serious, and maybe she felt it now that she showed up before they could withdraw their powers to destroy the wall.
Huh. The acidity of this woman.
Alright, I need her. Her power of illusion is what I came here for. Whatever she'd give, I will accept every challenge she prepared for me to get the power of Glamour.
But we haven't start yet. And even if we were in the middle of the battle fighting for the said power, I won't hold back myself once she does something I won't like.
She's the Empress of the Achlys. The realm my kingdom took down.
And I am Rani Letisha. The ruler of the Faye region. The queen that will never back down no matter what the circumstances are.
I ain't easy to break. They'd step on my corpse first before they raise their hands in victory which won't happen.
The two faces turned emotionless. They didn't move on their spot after she showed up to interrupt the attack.
Huh... They were probably watching us from their tower, laughing at us.
"We were about to," I step forward near Terran, facing the Empress with no fear in my eyes. "If you didn't show up, that gate behind you would be broken by now. You'll lose your wall, Empress."
My eyes went to the tall guy behind her, even the Pixie woman who was silently standing.
"You are in my territory in case you forgot."
Shrugging, I smirked playfully. "I know that but I destroy things whenever I felt like to."
"You can't play while you're inside the Achlys."
"Who said we can't?" I challenged her.
I know what I'm doing would lower my chance, but leaders don't do that. If provoked, they'd do anything to get back. I'm sure the Empress wanted that to happen knowing that I came from the Acres Kingdom that made them hide in darkness.
They are just bunch of losers, I guess. They can't even fight fairly. Such a coward Pixies.
"Shut up! Don't talk to the Empress!" the woman shouted angrily.
Rolling my eyes, I tucked my ginger hair behind my ear.
"I'm not somehow who bows her head for those people who doesn't deserve it."
The Empress rose her brows at me.
Above all, she was the only one who looks pleasing in the eye. Those golden glitters tattoo on the side of her face was glowing in the dusk, it matches her pale complexion.
She has a big foxy eyes that was surrounded with dark shadows. The Empress's small nose perfectly compliment her big lips that were too gloomy in the eyes but overall, nothing.
The Empress face was far different from the Pixies I've seen. It was as if she wasn't meant to be a Pixie but rather, a Fae.
I scoffed thinking of it. A Fae? F ucking no. Never. She won't be part of us and I won't let it happen.
A Pixie is a Pixie. They may be an Acresians before but they have already chose their path.
There is no turning back.
"Respect is earn, by the way. And you won't have it from me. Never."
I felt Terran's hand in my back, secretly calming me when he felt the aggressiveness in my voice.
Huh! Not because I need them doesn't mean I'd let them do whatever they want me to without fighting. I certainly won't let it.
"Likewise, Rani Letisha. But remember you came here voluntarily and you must have a hidden agenda why. So, I assumed it would be a big one, right?"
"Yes, it is..." I said without hesitation. "For that, I need to talk to you about my purpose of coming here," my eyes went to the Pixies behind her. "I'd like to talk in private. It's the matter between you and me."
"Princess..." I heard Terran, protesting upon hearing me.
I didn't budge. It is between us.
"We need to be there," the woman insisted.
I smiled cheekily. "Is she a child for you to be there? For what? To guide her?"
She gritted her teeth, completely annoyed of my presence. My gaze fell on her hands and when she saw it, she quickly opened her closed fists.
Ah, I must have gotten into her nerves. It wasn't even close to what they did to us. Making us wait for nothing until the morning, annoying her wasn't enough to get back.
"We are not here to pick a fight," I reminded them again. "We wrote you a message, right? I'm sure you read it for you sent a reply."
"I did," the Empress replied. "And I was busy dealing with something, so it took time before I showed up here."
My upper lip rose up. I tried to hide my irritation.
Busy, huh? Of course, they are also a bunch of liars.
"Oh, we understand it, Empress of the Pixies."
"You do? But you were about to destroy my wall."
"Well, we just wanted to know if it was strong enough to handle these guys power. It looks old and getting rusty, so I thought test it with our strength if it can still stand."
"It looks easy to break but it's not," the tall guy added.
I rolled my eyes mentally. We were annoyed, so we thought of breaking your wall. But then, you arrived, opening the gate before we could even destroy it.
I wanted to add but chose to kept my mouth shut.
This should get over with. The time spent waiting for nothing got wasted and now, I can no longer handle another waiting game. My time was too precious to waste by some loser who can’t fight fairly.
“Can we just go and talk about what I came here?” I asked lazily, wanting to escape everyone as seeing them irritates the hell out of me.
Them means the Pixies. They stings my eyes by just staring at them. I wonder if they know it.
I hope so.
The Empress looked at both sides and signaled the two Pixies. A minute later when both looked at us with their dark eyes filled with anger before they left.
Sighing, I smiled in victory. At least those annoying faces were now gone in my sight.
Only one left.
“So, where do you want to talk?” I quizzed when her head snapped to our direction.
She looks too calm while I’m here, feeling defeated for just seeing them annoyed me. Well, our appearance isn’t annoying. We pleased everyone else, those who weren’t were envious of the beauty we holds.
They felt inferior. They better be. Making them feel intimated would make them stop thinking of ways to take me down for they’d know I’m not an easy opponent.
“In my throne, Rani Letisha.” She smiled a bit filled with plasticity. “The guests are welcome to enter my tower.”
“Just the two of us,” I clarified. “Without anyone in sight, or a witness, we’ll talk about my purpose in private.”
“Oh, I’d like to hear them, too.”
My brows shot up. “I don’t, so will you stop insisting? This is just between us and no one needs to be there to witness our agreement.”
“Agreement?” She chuckled with a hint of disagreement. “It depends on what you want to have, Rani Letisha. Do not assume that early. I might turn you down.”
“Well, I won’t let you...”
If she would, I still have something in my sleeves to make her say yes to me. I’ve come prepared in case that happens, I won’t be here without bringing an extra weapon with me.
Of course, there would be a chance she’d refuse. I may let Alistair slip away, this time the Empress will say yes to me with the condition I’d put in the table.
“Ah, I know that... I don’t expect you to give up that easily though. After all, you are the feisty Rani Letisha of the Faye region. An Acresian bearing the King and the Queen’s blood.”
I smirked at her. “Oh, I’m glad you know that. My name must have been that famous, huh?”
Of course, aside from my origin, my name was known because of my beauty. Sadly, it wasn’t because of the leadership.
She laughed a bit. But there was a bitterness on it.
“My ears became bloody whenever I heard your name, Rani Letisha. It was irritating, annoying, and it angers me. It makes me want to end your life.”
“Well, now that I’m here, might as well fulfill your wish. But sadly, I won’t let you celebrate in victory.”
Between us, she’d die first in my barehands rather than me.
Everyone fell in silence. We were just sending each other glares, no one wanted to back down. I won’t either. Her eyes filled with anger that was directly looking at me, I just smiled teasingly at her which made her more angry.
Oh, she was so easy to provoke. I wasn’t even doing anything yet.
“Let’s go,” she gave up.
Chuckling, I looked at the guys beside me. They were seriously watching me as if I did something wrong that upsets them. In which I assumed was my decision to exclude them in our talk.
Beside, it was true. It was between me and the Empress of the Achlys. I also don’t want other people to stick their noses.
It would be better to keep it in myself. But if the Empress choose to spread it down to her people, then I guess that was the time where I’d let these guys know.
It was only the little fairies who knows what I came here for. The truth that I was here to take one’s power.
The power of illusion. If it wasn’t because of the directors, I wouldn’t chase it. It wasn’t my thing to take one’s power but to remain in my position, I’d gladly do it.
I fought hard to get wherever I am now. I played fair for the position I have now. To take the Faye region, to be one of the rulers in Acres Kingdom, I could say that I did my best to fit the roles, to make the people choose me.
I didn’t get the throne just because of my mum and dad’s position in our kingdom. I have to prove myself to everyone, to show them my desires to rule them.
And I did it. Now that my capabilities to rule was again, questioned, I have to work hard to stay in my place.
I wouldn’t let it slip away from my hands like I didn’t work hard for it. Everything I went through in the past, I will not put it to waste.
I will prove them wrong. A woman can rule, and that’s my goal.
To slap the directors with truth would bring me not just the victory, but the satisfaction to see them in ground, begging for my forgiveness would make me happy.
They deserved it. All they did in the past was complained and questioned one worthiness and now, they were at it again.
I’m getting tired of it. I just wanted to end it.
It’s obviously a discrimination. I couldn’t believe that it still exists in modern times.
Those directors who hated women to rule? They were just b utthurts. Their ego was hurt.
After all, men just thought of his ego at the end of the day. And that was how I perceived those other directors who kept on kicking me out for being a woman.
“Princess, why did you decide without even consulting us? Who knows what would happen inside that tower,” Terran gritted his teeth.
“C’mon, it was as if you all don’t know me. I can handle this, okay? Don’t worry too much.”
The two averted their gaze, disappointment was visible in their eyes.
Sighing, I turned my back away from them to follow the Empress.
