Chapter 20 - Faye’s Beauty

"What takes them so long?" Growing up, the la Reina and la Roi has taught me to be patient at everything especially when it's me that need something. However, it was too thin. I hated wasting my time by people who thinks highly of themselves. But deep inside, I admit there were times that I acted mighty. Denying it won't cause me anything. My patience is thinner than the hair's strand, it's too easy to break it apart, too. For Pixies, I really don't have time dealing with them if not only for my goal. Waiting is actually not a big deal for me. At least, I knew how to lower my pride in such situation. Following their orders weren't a big deal, too. I can literally act as their servant and abide their rules but only a few people deserved to see me bow my head. Pixies are not one of them. They can't have my respect just because I need them. And not merely because of the history between us. It wasn't personal. I clearly hated how they deal with their guests. Making us wait until the dark in the horizon slowly fades away in the sight, and now the orange hues started to spread across the sky. "It's morning..." I heard Terran. "We've been waiting here since last night yet no one came. We waited for nothing, princess." I wanted to talk but no words came out of my mouth. And what would I tell them? That they'd come to open the gate for us? To allow us to see the Empress? Where are they? No. They didn't come like what the tall Pixie said. They made us wait 'till morning. Without sending a word, we waited. They're probably out there laughing at how dumb we were. The Empress might be at the top of her tower looking down on us as she chuckled in satisfaction together with her servants, sharing words of how stupid the Rani Letisha of the Acres Kingdom. I'm not amazed. A faint of anger started to rose inside me. I have never been this stupid before. Not had someone who made me look like one. I know waiting is a must. It was possible that they did it in purpose to see if we were gonna give up and we were not going to. This was enough... Since the other night, I've had enough of this childish act. The Empress was too immature. Or whoever pulled up this game that only a fool would do was too childish. I wonder how did she become one. Do they even have a requirements before voting for someone to sat on the throne? If she was in our kingdom, she wouldn't even have a chance to list her filthy name in the candidacy. "Let's wait for another hour, then we'll do something if no one still arrive." I must have set the bar too low. Now that they have finished playing with us, I think it's my time to step up my game. "An hour, Rani Letisha..." Deniz whispered with a knotted forehead. Obviously not liking the ultimatum. I nodded at him. My eyes were slowly giving up and was just trying my hardest to kept it open. Sleep can wait, but my patience can't handle another trigger anymore. "Princess, do you think we have to look for food as we waited?" "Are you hungry?" I fixed my kins to them, landing on each pair of eyes that were avoiding my gaze. The little Fairies were just sitting in the ground with the bag under their butts, looking tired and hungry. Among us, only them were the ones who had a nice slept last night. Meanwhile, the three of us were counting sheep as we stared at the huge gate, waiting for it to open but until now, it was still closed. I hated how these Pixies play. They can't even think of a good one. This is absolutely and undoubtedly a children's game and we were exhausted keeping up with it. If after an hour and we're still here, they'd taste my wrath. They'd see me transform into a monster if no one shows up. I'm hungry and tired. Sleepy and annoyed. Those were enough reasons for me to go berserk. In the first place, the Pixies were the reason why. I knew I'm not in my territory to spread my hate. But as I've said, if provoked, I wouldn't mind fighting. "We can still manage, Rani Letisha," Rin answered calmly. "Yup, we can... We can look for food after, don't mind us." I rolled my eyes at Terran. I could see how his ears move. I know him... His ears move whenever he spit lies. But then, what can I do? "After an hour, Terran. If they don't show up, let's go outside and find food then, attack..." That's the plan. The Pixies clearly don't respect our time spent for this. As someone who needs them, a word of complains should not come out of my mouth. But it doesn't mean we gave the Pixies the right to abuse their power just because it's us that needed them. All I asked was to see the Empress to talk about what I came here for. Was it too hard for them to show up? Perhaps they lack of confidence to face me. Or afraid to see someone from the Acres Kingdom visited them. They might thought they'd wither upon seeing the Rani Letisha of the Acres Kingdom. I'd like to think about that way to stop myself from bursting out in anger. "We will attack them...?" Deniz blurted out. "Yes," I said firmly. "But we will not have our hands be tainted with the Pixie's blood. We attack but no, we will not kill unless necessary." In our world, it's normal to wither. Killing has been everyone's way of surviving during war. A lot of blood will shed, bodies turned to ashes, but we never kill with no deep reason. If there's still a way, we could do whatever it was to survive. "Kill if necessary," I reminded them again. For two decades, I have only killed one. That was what I thought until now. Everyone blamed me for that, so I started believing them. There were times that I always reminded myself that it was right, yes, you killed her, Rani Letisha. Because of me, someone died in the past. I felt responsible for her death that I didn't mind people putting the blame on me when those who believed in me said no, it wasn't my fault. It was no one fault. Death is always bound to happen at some point of their lives and even a lot of them told me that it was her time to wither, I couldn't just stand and dodge those judgment I have received from people. If only I could bring back the past, I would. It was ironic, right? I was given the chance to see the future yet I couldn't see mine. In every power you holds, there's a condition. You heal people with sickness but you can't heal those people who are close to you — that includes yourself. "The Pixies are getting in my nerves, princess. Can we just climb and waste no more time? They're obviously playing with us." I took a deep breath. Even Terran has lost his cool. "A few more minutes, Terran. Just a few more time..." I wanted to reassure them again. That they'd show up but even I, was getting tired hearing those words of affirmation coming from my lips. "This is getting annoying," it was Deniz. "If only Alistair was here, I'd order him to make the sky rain to at least, cool our heads down." "Which one?" Tia asked teasingly and I couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "Oh, this little fairy was naughty, huh..." He faced Tia who was looking at him innocently, not really giving a damn about Deniz. "Do you want a big slap, babygirl? You can literally fly meters away from us with just my hand." "Our Rani Letisha will kill you for that," she was so confident. "She'd break your neck before you could even land your hand at us, Deniz!" "Wow! You are so..." Deniz chuckled as he fixed his attention to me. "These little fairies trust you so much, Rani Letisha. Would you really break me once my hand landed in anyone of these three overconfident little fairies?" I stared at him lazily. "Yes, with no hesitation." He put his hand above his chest as if he was hurt. "Ouch. Pain... You're so cruel," he said dramatically which made him received a knock on his head from Terran. "This isn't the time for your act, Deniz." Shaking my head, I silently argued. "You're so serious, Terran. I'm making everyone happy because those b itches were getting in my nerves, too! Once I saw that ugly tall Pixie, I will definitely punch the hell out of him. He was too confident and remembering his face irritates me." For a guy, Deniz was annoyingly noisy. "Shut up," Terran's forehead knotted as h stood up from sitting on the ground. "But yes, if I see that Pixie again, I'd show no mercy." Deniz chuckled. "Bro, maybe that was why girls don't like to settle with you. You have you know... A ting in your mind." "In short, crazy?" Rin added. "And girls don't settle with whom? The Terran of the Sidhe? The leader of the pathfinder? Ah, you must be ugly in woman's eyes, then." This time, Deniz bursted out in happiness hearing everything that came out of Rin's lips. I knew Rin can be a b itch but I never knew she was brave enough to tease Terran. Unlike others... Somehow, the anger in my heart lessen because of them. I didn't know what to do without them, honestly. Or how to deal with my emotions with no one to help me calm down. The simple exchange of teasings lifted the tension. But I know, once I saw the Pixies again, I'd burst out inside. I need to vent out this anger rather than keep it inside me and wait for myself to burst out without warning. "Have you seen the Pixies faces?" Deniz chuckled, a hint of evilness was heard in his voice. "They're ugly witches, right. No doubt. They have nothing to compare to these little Fairies who were pleasing in the eye." "I don't have something to give to you but just our thanks," Zah said with no emotions. "You're such a killjoy," Tia rolled her eyes. "But yeah, thanks. We already knew wee were beautiful than Pixies even before we saw them." "You're all overconfident," Terran looked at me with his brows shot up. "You're our princess's people, no doubt. Rani Letisha can be that confident, too. It's fine but don't overdo it." "We are spitting nothing but only the truth," I defended my side. "Besides, you can tell why. I mean, beauty runs in Faye's region." Terran and Deniz looked at me with amused. But later when they realized it, they both averted their gaze and coughed. These guys... "Ah, I think the Pixie really need to show up before the wind blow us all. Rani Letisha must have been that hungry." "I agree with you, Deniz. We should really look for food for princess." "So mean..." Rin muttered. I tsked and didn't mind them again. When it comes to beauty, I'm confident and everyone knows it. "But seriously speaking, Rani Letisha is really beautiful. Beyond words..." Terran said in a matter of factly. I smiled at him cheekily. "That's the only truth people should know."
