So, I left him in the Enchanted Forest with the Little Fairies monitoring him. I gave him the time he needs, as I was not really expecting he’d completely give in and just believe in me. Of course, he wouldn’t. He needs time to process everything and I gave him that.
What pique my interest is... he had dreams. And in his dream, he foresee this to happen. Like he was really fated to be here because of what he saw. Is it even possible? Why would a human like him would have dreams about our world?
I don’t know. There is really something and I need to find it as early as possible. I felt like there would be a change. I shrugged it off and focused on the La Reina talking gracefully.
“You don’t really expect him to just comply,” she said when I told her the situation. “It’s right that you give him time, Rani Letisha. He needs to process everything first before he decides. We don’t want to shock him, right? Although he was but at least, let us give him the chance to explore first and be more curious.”
I haven’t told her what hat human said to me... That he envision this to happen to him because of his dreams. Should I tell her? What if that man was lying? But why would he lie about it, right?
Perhaps he was acting up earlier because of fear that the event he saw in his dreams is happening... That it became a reality and even if I were in his shoe, I’d be scared.
It is scary to be here, on their point of view. They will witness our world, the part of the universe that is just too... extraordinary. But then, they’d eventually wither and my heart saddened at the thought.
“Can’t we really do a thing to stop the curse, mum?” I asked slowly.
I have been searching for the solution but there are just things that I can’t do. Like stopping the curse of the missing portal to prevent humans from discovering our world that lead them death.
“I... just want to stop this mess, mum. They are dying... The other human even died within twenty four hours of being here and I can’t afford to see anyone face death. I just wanted this to end...”
I will do everything to make this stop...
“There is a solution, of course... We just can’t find it, Rani Letisha,” she answered slowly. “There are just things that we can’t find because that’s something we are not supposed to do, child. Searching for the answer to stop the missing portal is not your — and our job. There is someone assigned to that and only him or her is capable of finding it.”
I laughed without humor. That is too absurd. If there is someone who can, then where is that someone? What? Watching people die because of that missing portal’s curse? It’s been going over decades and still! He’s probably enjoying watching those innocent humans die in our world.
“That’s too absurd, mum...” I looked at her intently. “Does that mean that even the powerful ones can’t find the solution because he or she is not the appointed one? How do I make that someone be me? So I can find the missing portal and stop it from bringing people here only to kill them.”
I gritted my teeth at the thought of that curse. We are the one who are suffering because of it. Those humans don’g even deserve to die here in our world... They don’t even have a place here to bury their bodies... Their lives should end in their world, not ours.
This should be stop. Decades have passed and no one ever tried to stop it. But now? It should be stopped. Who knows? In the next ten years, the portal won’t only bring one or two people to let them die here but more than that. That is something that should not happen in the future.
We should prevent death from coming. We are not responsible of all these humans death. They were born in the human world so they should be there until their last dying breathe.
I looked at the door when it flew opened, revealing the La Roi. I stood up to give respect. He went to the La Reina before me to kiss me on my forehead.
“You shouldn’t really do that when there are just three of us,” he said, referring to my behavior.
I just smiled a bit. “It just became habitual.”
I will keep on bowing my head to show my respect to him. I looked up to my father, he is great not just as a parent but also, a leader to everyone.
“Well, then... Tell me about the human,” he asked before he went to sit beside mum.
I sat on the chair. Then, I figured he’s just on his casual clothes. No golds around his body, no sign of those golds that reminds him of his title. He probably went to act as an ordinary man again to visit those cities around Acres Kingdom and the whole Godlic.
My father is always like this. In his free time, he’d act as if he is not a King of our kingdom. Something I like about my father is he didn’t forget to level himself to those who are below us. He knows how to fit in, he knows how to make his way to people’s hearts. He knows how to listen to their needs, and eventually propose a solution to provide them that.
I admire his balancing. He didn’t fail anyone... He still managed to give us time despite the responsibilities that consumed almost his time. I’d like to be like him in the future. Not just a responsible leader but also knows how to sympathize with people.
The Acres Kingdom is not just full of magics and life filled with desirable needs. Some also suffers... For not everyone has power.
“He is still... shocked,” I answered shortly
“Have you explain everything to him?”
I shook my head. “I haven’t... He asked to give him time so I did. I left him with the Little Fairies first. And I hoping he’d be ready to hear me out when I come back, and also hoping he’d understand how this would work for him.”
“What was his name?” he asked curiously which made me looked away.
I bit my lower lip. What was his name? I didn’t ask not because I was not interested but because he’d eventually leave our world. So for me, I thought it won’t matter anymore, forgetting that my parents knows the names of those humans who withered here in our world.
I sighed deeply. “I didn’t ask his name...” I whispered in a very low voice. “But I will ask him once I get back. I just didn’t think it’s important to know his name...”
He chuckled. “Of course, it is... There’s a book assigned only for them where every human who got here is written on that book.”
Well, I didn’t know that. But I am not really interested to know who’s who, to know those victims whose lives were decided once they were brought here in our world.
I looked at them. They looked good together. The love in their eyes are just overflowing and I admire their braveness and strengths to hold still despite the criticisms they have received.
“You should ask him,” he uttered. “Or let him come in here so we can talk.”
I almost rolled my eyes. As if he have time for that. Right... There is a book here dedicated only for humans but he is not the writer.
“About human stuff?” I rode on. “He might act up, though. Just like what he did earlier in the Enchanted Forest once he woke up. Shouting and banging the door because he learned that... his dreams... became a reality.”
I saw their forehead knotted at the mention of dreams. I pictured my reaction when I first heard it from that human, too. Dreams, huh. I really think he was lying but here I am, decided to open my mouth to talk about it.
“He mentioned something about dreams... Like being here, he dreamt of it. Like he expected and envision this would happen to him. Like something extraordinary, like the thing he thought was a dream m turn to reality.”
“A dream...” said the La Roi.
I nodded. “Yup... And I was confused, and still just like you, parents... Like how is that possible? We don’t have a connection with humans. How can an ordinary man like him would have dreams about our world? He must be joking, right?”
I really did not believe him. Well, we shouldn’t. He is lying... We should not even put an effort to think of it because he was probably making up stories. For the reason? Who knows what he is up to.
But why am I being so paranoid about it? It’s nothing. I shouldn’t even get affected by it.
My mum blinked then, she laughed awkwardly.
“Why don’t you bring him here once you settled everything?”
I snorted. “He would just cause a trouble. Let me handle him, mum. You don’t have to worry.”
“We are not worried,” said the La Roi. “We knew you can handle him, Rani Letisha. But it would be better if we know what type of man you’re dealing with. We don’t know until when he’s going to stay here but to make sure, of course... We need to study him first.”
“You don’t have time for that,” I pointed out. “So, it’s not really necessary.”
“Still...” Mum insisted, making my forehead knotted in dismay. “I mean, we trust you and all but we don’t trust the human. You mentioned he was being violent—“
“I didn’t,” I cut her off before she could even finished her sentence. “He looked... fine. He is not violent and I won’t even let him touch even the strands of my hair so, if you two are worried about it, then don’t be. You don’t have to meet him. It’s not necessary... You didn’t even ask Alistair to meet up with the human who just died, mum. What changed?” I challenged.
It’s kinda strange and I hated how they insisted. The looked on their faces tells me they badly wanted to see the human under my care. I don’t think they are worried about my welfare, though. I don’t think knowing him for me is the sole reason why.
But if not, then what? Is there any reasons why they would want to see him?
“If it’s because of the dream, then forget it. It’s not real. It’s probably lies. I heard humans like to wave lies so it’s not new, I guess. Just learned from the experience before,” I insisted.
There was a human who told us they were part of us. We didn’t believe him, of course. Nothing bad happen but we shouldn’t really get fooled by these humans. Like alright, I felt guilty at the fact that they are here because of the curse our kingdom carried for decades but it doesn’t mean I’d tolerate them for lying in our territory.
The La Reina sighed, still not convinced. She has the look of determination to meet him. But no... They should not. Just basing at their reaction, I can feel that they would try and convince theirselves to believe him and I don’t want that human to confuse them.
I don’t want their path to cross.
“I am going,” I told them. “I still need to talk to him and prove he was lying. So please, don’t bother meeting him. He would just waste your time.”
“Rani Letisha...” mum called. “Just... let us, please.”
Shaking my head, I looked at her firmly.
“No, mother. It is not necessary, that human is no good to talk to.”
“Letisha,” it was my father but before he could even talk, I bowed my head down to dismiss the conversation.
“See you...” I bid.
