Chapter 63

430 Words
“I brought pizza for dinner; would that be alright?” He asked. I wrung my hair dry before responding, “sure, I’d love some pizza and beer.” “That’s my girl,” he chuckles, placing a kiss on my forehead. “Want to play some billiard later?” “I don’t know. Are you sure you know how to play? I’m great with teachers who know what they’re teaching, and I’m not so sure about you,” I teased. He doesn’t play along with my mocking insults though as he kisses my teasing smile away. James takes the opportunity to duck his head and plant light kisses all over my exposed collarbone. “You taste great,” he says, drawing his head from my chest, and looking back at me. “A little lake-fresh, but great, nonetheless.” I laugh at him, ignoring his remark on how I apparently tasted. I grabbed a towel from my bag on the lounge room and some change of clothes. “You are a weirdo,” I called out to him before rushing upstairs to change. It doesn’t take me long to take a shower and rush back downstairs where I find my boyfriend changed into new clothes, as well. He leads me into the billiard room where I see two boxes of pizza, smoke still oozing from them, and a case of beer, placed on top of the billiard table with a layer of linen to serve as a coaster. The billiard room was just as mesmerizing as the other parts of the house. The edge of it was built atop the lake, with one side of the walls completely glass. It had bright yellow lights that caused a reflective glimmer on the lake. I look at the time and notice it was already half past six. We arrived here around mid-afternoon, but the day sure slipped past us. “After you, my lady,” he escorts me into a mid-century style grey sofa that he had moved around to face the bewitching stillness of the lake before us. “I contemplated whether giving you this or the huge screen for a Netflix dinner.” “Well, I think you chose right,” I tell him, taking my seat comfortably next to him. He grabs a paper plate and hands me a slice of pizza. Grabbing himself one, as well, we cheered to the peaceful days we had ahead of us. “Do you think your mother would approve of us if they’d seen us like this?” He asks, mid-bite.
