My father placed a thick document in front of me. My hands trembled as I read the words written on the paper: Marriage Contract.
"Father... are you serious?" I asked, my voice shaking. "Marry a man I’ve never even met? Someone I don’t know at all?"
He looked at me with a stern expression. "This is an agreement between our families. It is necessary for our business. Don’t worry—it’s only for three years. After that, you are free to go your separate ways."
I had no choice. There was no way out.
And just like that, one week later, I was married. No wedding, no celebration. Just signatures on paper. His name was Lucas Montenegro—young, incredibly wealthy, and from what everyone said... cold, strict, and terrifyingly serious.
We never even met during the ceremony.
But the very next day, something unexpected happened. I received a call from the company I had applied to. I was hired—as the Personal Secretary to the CEO.
I was overjoyed. This was my chance to start my career, to prove I could work hard.
But that joy shattered the moment I stepped into the CEO’s office.
There he was. Sitting behind the large mahogany desk, looking sharp, wearing glasses, his expression unreadable and cold.
"Sir, this is your new secretary," the HR manager introduced me.
He looked me up and down. No smile. No warmth. Just pure, cold judgment.
"From today, you work for me," he said in a deep, commanding voice. "I do not tolerate mistakes. Be warned—I am not a kind man."
I wanted to scream. I’m not just your employee... I AM YOUR WIFE, LUCAS!
But I swallowed my words and bowed my head.
"Yes, Sir... I understand."
And so began my double life.
In the office, I was the quiet, nervous employee afraid to make a single error. At home... I was the wife he never recognized.
And the worst part? Little by little... I was falling in love with the man who treated me like a stranger every single day.
