Ellie's POV
I woke up from surgery with my father sitting in the chair beside my bed. Mike had told me he was here but had yet to come to the hospital. I was told that he felt guilty about everything that had happened. It wasn't his fault my mother was crazy and did what she did.
"Dad," I said quietly.
"You awake. God it's so good to see you. I'm so sorry about all of this. I should have never left."
"Dad, it's not your fault. She was crazy and you didn't know that she would go this far." I said, starting to cry again. I feel like that's all I've done since Tate walked out those doors.
"But still I should have never left. You wouldn't be here hurting, and Preslee wouldn't be at the hotel hurting."
"We'll both be OK. Dad, if you knew where we were why didn't you reach out?"
