Chapter 6 - Lines to be Crossed

My room is taken care of properly in my parents' house. I said good night to Thunder then went straight to shower. I need to clear my mind. Thunder is staying the night too because he's too tired to drive back to his place.

My eyes went to my phone that keeps vibrating while I do skin care. I know it's Lucas, but I don't feel like answering his call. How many hours did it take him to realize my absence? I feel offended.

I set the light to dim and turned on the air purifier before I went to bed. This is too comfortable I can fall asleep anytime soon. But I need to at least check what's happening to my husband.

I checked the notifications and it say 23 missed calls. I opened the messages from Lucas. He's asking where I am and to pick up the call. I can tell his strings are pulled at the last text. I started typing my reply but I received a call from him. My hand was shaking when I answered.

"Where are you?" His deep low voice sent shiver to my spine. But I shouldn't be the one to feel apologetic. He disappeared first and did not notice I was out of the party.

"Home. How about you? Are you still with Amery?"

"I am home now, and you're not here. Where the hell are you? And why weren't you picking up?" There's that thing when he's raving that makes me tense even I am not at fault. He's sweet and gentle on a normal day, but he goes berserk when he's seething.

"My parents' house. I'll be spending the day here tomorrow since it's Sunday. I'll be back there next week."

"I'm picking you up now. Wait for me." The danger in his tone is evident like he's threatening me. I didn't even do anything except leave the party early. He was the one who's all over his ex all night.

"No. I'm about to sleep now..." He cut me off.

"After you left the party without any notice to me? I was looking for you everywhere and you're telling me you're out to go to bed?" I heard his heavy breathing while he's saying that sarcastic remark.

"N-not my problem you're busy talking with you ex all night you didn't notice I was gone. I don't have energy to argue with you, so let's talk next week."

His sardonic laugh made me feel butterfly in the stomach. Only Lucas has this power over me. I heard the shutting of car door in his background.

"I said I'm coming over, so wait for me. Don't make me cause a scene in your parents' house."

"Please respect my space, Lucas! I don't want to see you now."

"But I NEED to see you tonight or I'll go insane. I'll be theer in 30 minutes, Naomi. I'll tell you what Amery and I were discussing."

"Please Lucas! Thunder is also here. I don't want to talk to you cause I feel like we're just going to fight. Not here." My voice broke.

"I don't care who else is in the house. I don't want you getting comfortable with the distance between us. I've respected your privacy by settling with separate bedrooms, but this is going too far. You think you can just leave whenever you feel like it? You think I'm okay with that and I'll just let it go?" My heart raced. The devil in him is showing. I took a deep sigh ang bite my lower lip. I thought it was going to be a peaceful night now that I'm here in my safe place.

"You're doing everything you want too, Lucas. So why can't I? Stop trying to control me, I won't fall for any of your tricks. I'll go wherever I want with whoever I want to be with. I'm instructing the guards to not open the gates for you. Don't..."

"Oh I'm glad Thunder is there too. I'll call him to open the gates then." He said it very smoothly like he doesn't care about making a scene.

"You may not know this, Lucas, but you sound so obsessed right now. We can t-talk tomorrow, you can come here t-tomorrow. It's already late."

"Yes, sorry if I am obsessed and can't respect your privacy, Naomi." His sarcasm just made me more mad. I ended the call because none of this negotiation will make him back down. He's coming over whatever I say.

I got up and checked myself in the mirror. I am already in my comfortable pajamas, I can't believe I have to argue with him looking like this. I would have willingly done it an hour ago with full make up in a dress that makes me feel pretty.

I am in the second floor now, and Thunder's room is just across mine, so I quietly tiptoed to the first floor. I know the rooms here are soundproof, but being extra careful won't hurt. I'll die in shame if he finds out that I bring Lucas here.

I informed the guards that I'm expecting Lucas so they can just let him in. I'm browsing on i********: while waiting for him in the sitting room. Amery posted a group photo with Lucas and I accidentally saw some comments saying they still look good and asking if they'reback together.

My heart dropped when the door in the main entrance opened. I immediately closed the application and put my phone in the pocket of my PJ. My knees were trembling when I stood. Lucas looks extremely hot in while long sleeve and messy hair. The smell of alcohol is mixing with his perfume when he approached me wearing his straight face.

"Thunder is in the second floor. We can talk in the guest room, so he won't know you're here." I was about to lead him to the guest room in the first floor but he didn't move from where he was standing.

"Am I a joke to you?" He threw his coat on the couch beside me. I bite my lower lip when I glanced at the second floor afraid that Thunder will just suddenly appear there.

"P-please lower down your voice, Lucas. Let's talk here in the..."

"Let's talk in your room. I'm your husband, not your guest." My jaw dropped. I feel so helpless now, I found my match, someone who won't accept anything less than what I deserve. Just standing here makes me feel like ea prey of an angry and hungry tiger who's ready to devour me anytime.

"Lucas, I don't have problems letting you in my room, but Thunder's room is just across mine. I don't want him to hear what we're about to discuss."

"Damn it, Naomi. Let's talk here then. Why did you leave without saying a word? I was worried as hell! I kept calling you but you didn't bother answering. I was losing my mind, but then you're here ready for a good night sleep." I avoided his gaze, that's too much for me to handle.

"O-okay, let's calm down and talk in my room then. Your voice is too loud... you'll wake up everyone here." I said calmly. My heart was racing stupidly when I picked up his coat from the couch and led the way to my room. I heard his footsteps behind me.

He slammed the door when we entered. That just made my knees wear. I placed his coat on the couch then faced him.

He looked around the room before his eyes went back to me. He gave me a head-to-toe before taking a deep sigh.

"Let me explain first." He said looking at me intently. "She has been posting contents that lead to misunderstanding of her fan and put you as a target for harrassment. My lawyer has been working on it, but Amery didn't want to cooperate. There is just no legal action that can be taken against her so I tried to talk about it with her earlier. It's my first time seeing her after our breakup, and there's no other thing to discuss aside from her problematic contents."

Am I supposed to believe that? They just disappeared in the middle of the party, and who knows where they went and what they did.

"Okay. We are married in papers, but we both know nothing is going on between us. If you want other girls, I won't stop you. Just make sure to hide it from public, from our group of friends and from our family. I really have no control..."

"I don't want anyone else." My throat suddenly felt dry when he cut me off to clarify. The conviction in his voice made my face flush.

"I don't care, Lucas."

I watched his jaw clenched.

"I'm diligently waiting for you, Naomi. But you're trying to give other meaning to that. I respect your privacy, but that doesn't mean I didn't want to sleep with you. Okay... first let me clarify that I wanted to settle the thing quickly with Amery because it hurts me to see the negative comments against you." I can tell that it's hard for him to follow the reasoning. It's clear that he's drunk and his emotions are getting in the way.

"I said I don't care, Lucas. You didn't have to explain what happened between you and her."

"I'll make sure she won't cause more troubles for us. I'm sorry." When he took one more step closer, I turned my back and put my phone on the side table. Why does he keep getting closer? I felt him behind me.

"Now that I've explained my part, it's your turn to give me answers why you suddenly left without dropping a single damn message. I supposed it's Thunder who gave you a ride." I turned to him and he's already an inch away. Our faces are so close with each other and the strong smell of alcohol is making me feel drunk too.

"No other reason except I was tired and wanted to go home." I answered in a cold tone. I felt his hand wrapped around my waist. My hands automatically pushed his chest when he pulled me close.

"That's disrespectful and ego-crushing to me." He said before claiming my lips through a harsh kiss. He probably took some strong alcohol tonight because how can I still taste both the bitterness and sweetness of it. He slowly let go of my lips.

"Let me go." I tried to push his arm wrapped in my waist, but he's too strong. He keeps his straight face watching my every reaction.

"I've been waiting for this moment. Sleeping in the room next to yours was the hardest thing I did in my life. I was waiting for you to be ready only for you to tell me that we're nothing more than that marriage contract?"

"Nothing changed. We're married in papers, and I will never sleep with you. Not with you. Let me go, Lucas!" I keep pushing his arm, but he's not budging. I am the only one struggling.

In one swift move, he laid me down on bed and his lips are claiming mine again, harsher this time. His intrusive tongue made me feel hot all over. I can tell he's mad with just the way he's kissing.

"Not with me? Definitely, never with any guys because I will kill them myself. Hmm?" So that's the statement that made him angry. I felt my lips getting numb with how passionately he's kissing it like he was so hungry to even stop.
