6|| Alina|| He had a family! The information instantly made me feel dizzy. I could barely feel my legs as the world around me started turning around... Malcom had a f*****g wife and he wanted me to give in to him? "Princess, are you okay?" Mary, asked beside me and her voice sounded distant as my head was still lost in my thoughts... Malcom used me... In fact he wanted to keep using me when he had— "Princess Alina!" A loud voice suddenly called and that was enough to snap me out of my thoughts. I blinked and turned to find the owner of the voice. It was the woman, Luna Xora. She was standing by the table and waving at me. "Please come and join us, we have been expecting you..." I wanted to ignore her and pour out all of the chaotic emotions I felt on Malcom but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Not in front of everyone and risk embarrassing myself. The best thing could have been to run. Yet my body developed a mind of its own and it helped me get closer to my problems. "Oh you look so beautiful, Darryl is so lucky!" She added with a huge smile on her face— while the rest of the occupants of the table simply stared. —Including Malcom. I managed a smile but it was all I could do as she left her side of the table and came to pull out a seat for me, right next to Malcom. Goddess please save me! "Mother, that's my brother's seat. Can't you place her somewhere else?" One of the girls countered and I instantly felt the hostility in her voice. "Oh, Daphne it's nothing. In fact since she is married to your brother it means that she can stand in for him... So since he is not here, unfortunately, Alina can sit here in his place." The girl, Daphne, blew off her brown hair and frowned at her plate, never speaking another word. The other girl, Danielle simply watched and Malcom— goddess I couldn't bring myself to stare at him. My heart was still racing with emotions but now, only one stood out. Anger. He had messed with the wrong girl and I was going to deal with— Luna Xora clapped her hands the sudden sound halting my thoughts. I turned my eyes to her but before a question could even be formed on my lips, a long queue of maids started trickling into the room with trolleys of food. As they finished displaying the many dishes varying from soups to grilled turkeys and mashed potatoes, Luna Xora got on her feet once more and kissed her fork to her wine glass. "Before we commence our meal tonight, I would like to apologize to my daughter-in-law for being absent on her wedding day," she began with a large smile that kept me enchanted by her words— While my conscience was dying... "You see, my daughters and I had to deal with an emergency in my home pack... And a quick return transport was almost impossible but we are here now and I promise to make it up to you and I am really so happy to meet you in person." "Thank you... I am—" the words hung on my throat as thoughts of the moment I just spent with Malcom washed over me... That cheating bastard. "I am also happy to finally meet you in person," I finally let out, through my teeth. Luna Xora beamed with joy as she stretched her hand across the table to meet mine. She squeezed it and smiled even brighter. "You and I are going to get along so well—" "Mother, can we eat now? The food is practically getting cold!" Daphne hissed. My eyes caught Malcom's frown but he said nothing. "Of course, I am sorry," Luna Xora laughed. "I always get carried away in moments like this... Please let's eat." I watched as Luna Xora pushed back her hair and began to dish out a little bit of everything that was on the table, then she passed the plate to me. My heart cracked at this point. Why was she being nice to me? Why would Malcom even cheat on such a woman? What sort of monster was he? My emotions were draining me but her warm smile sort of covered everything and everyone. I forced myself to eat but I couldn't. The food tasted bland in my mouth and my heart kept soiling with a dark blend of shame and anger. Unable to bare it, I finally let my eyes go to him and just like I had suspected, he was shamelessly watching me. My hands fisted as a nauseating wave of rage filled me. How could he not feel ashamed? "Father, you keep staring at her, is there a problem we should know about?" Daphne suddenly asked. My heart skipped but it wasn't in fear. My rage was at the point of self destruct and I silently dared him to speak the truth. "There is no problem Daphne. Why would you even think of that?" "I don't know." She shrugged glaring at him. "Well, try not to make silly comments without a good reason. I pay a good amount for your tutors." He hissed getting to his feet. "I am done here." Tension instantly filled the room and I saw Luna Xora's gentle demeanor shift slightly as she glared at her daughter. "I am done too," Danielle spoke for the first time and my eyes narrowed in her direction, watching as she left the table too. "I think that's my cue as well," Luna Xora said as she wiped her mouth clean. "Daphne, please make sure the maids do a proper cleaning before you retire to bed. We wouldn't want what happened the last time to repeat, itself." "Of course mother. Have a wonderful night," Daphne responded. And since I didn't want to remain there with her, I got up my chair too. "Oh Alina, you are done too?" Luna Xora's concerned look dropped on my plate. "But you have barely eaten anything..." "I am not really that hungry. I— I already ate so much earlier today, you see and I'm just too full." I said with a tight lipped smile on my face. "Hmm okay, if that's the case. Let me walk you then... These corridors and hallways can be a little tricky." She started leading the way out of the dinning and I couldn't refuse. Slowly I followed behind her and as soon as I caught up with her, she smiled at me. "I am going to make sure you and Darryl have it all... You will be so happy..." She started. "I just don't understand why he had to leave for a mission on your first night home... He wanted this so much and— it's just so confusing." "I am sure it was very important," I added just to cheer her up but she suddenly stopped and frowned. My heart jumped in my chest for a second as I feared I might have said something I shouldn't have. "Alina, do you know how much Darryl speaks of you?" She asked and I almost choked on my spit. "There is nothing more important to him except you." She looked genuinely bothered about the whole thing and I felt bad for her. Every male around her was lying to her. "—but I am sure he has a special explanation," she added and her smile returned. With that, she resumed walking, going on about the many sweet things she thought of her son's relationship with me. When we finally got to my room, I was more than happy to say goodbye to her. "Rest well, I have a really long day planned out for you tomorrow!" She called as she left. With a sigh, I stepped into my room and rested against the door, wondering how I ended up in this mess! How come I didn't even know Darryl had a mother? Or sisters? Not like it was going to change anything but at least the second s*x I had with Malcom wouldn't have happened! I would have been strong enough to counter him! I would have— My thoughts suddenly stopped as my eyes picked on the outline sitting on my bed. My fingers instantly turned on the light and right there in the middle of my room sat no other person but— Malcom!
