The Unexpected Proposal
Chapter 1: The Unexpected Proposal
“Marry me.”
Samantha Lin stared at the man sitting across the table, nearly dropping her coffee. “Excuse me?”
Leonard Huxley, the cold and untouchable billionaire CEO, looked completely unfazed. “It’s just a contract. One year. No strings attached.”
She blinked, still thinking this was some kind of joke. “Why would you ask me to marry you?”
“I need a wife by next Monday to secure my grandfather’s inheritance. You need money to save your family’s home.” He leaned in, his voice low and steady. “We can help each other.”
Samantha Lin heart pounded. She had only met Leo once before—at a charity gala where she spilled wine on his tux. And now, he was asking her to be his contract bride?
“This is insane,” she whispered.
“Think of it as a business deal,” Leo said, placing a thick envelope on the table. “The advance is inside. Consider it… a signing bonus.”
Samantha Lin looked down at the envelope, then up at the man with ice-blue eyes and a reputation for never mixing business with pleasure. Her fingers trembled.
She had no choice. And this was only the beginning.
