42 Something was rocking me back and forth. The surrounding space swayed and churned, and I didn’t know why. Odd swishing noises rumbled in my ears. Something was wrong, I thought as I drifted out of sleep. I kept my eyes closed in the hopes that I would just fall back into sleep as easily as I’d fallen out of it. But nothing happened. I rolled over, trying to make myself more comfortable. And that’s when I realized that I was lying on a curved wooden surface. I opened my eyes. All I could see was a vast expanse of light gray.
