7 INEXPLICABLY THIRSTY I get to work on time, but Jenny isn’t there to notice. Figures. Jo texted me a simple “good morning and see you tonight” kind of thing instead of calling. The pain gets bad, and the sensation of bugs crawling over my legs is driving me to distraction. I’m so worried about getting through our date tonight. When 1 pm rolls around, I can’t leave fast enough. As soon as I arrive home, I crawl into bed. I’m hoping I can find a position which will make my back, well, frankly, all better. I finally find a good position and fall asleep. I wake up groggy and disheveled, but thankfully, the pain is better. I stay under the hot water for as long as I can stand. Mascara is all I can manage tonight, and I hope Jo won’t be disappointed. I part my hair and do a Dutch braid on
