Chapter 1
Life can be funny sometimes. One minute you’re all alone in the world, drifting about with no purpose. The next you’re surrounded by people and on a clear path to sorting out an entire community. At least that’s how it was for me. I was a lost woman with no memories or direction in life. Now I am a powerful kinetic wiccan that must unite the supernatural community. Talk about pressure. My companions have been trying to help me regain my memories and powers. We have been having tutoring sessions ever since we arrived in New Orleans. The house we were staying in belonged to a friend of Roy and Daryl. Both men were lycans and bears, literally. Roy was average in human terms. Shorter than my five foot seven with brown hair. His eyes were far from ordinary, gray green in color and slightly hostile. He was a black bear when he shifted. He had been working with me on climbing and evading attacks. It was actually exciting and fun. Daryl was the opposite of Roy, a mountain of a man that could eat you out of house and home. He was fair skinned with red hair and hazel eyes. It matched his lycan form, he was a polar bear when he changed. He was helping me with tracking, which was absolutely hilarious. We would track, you guessed it, food. He always goes easy on me for training. Then there was Sam, another lycan. Sam was my height and lean, with a shaved head and brown eyes. Don’t let his innocent boyish looks fool you though. He’s intelligent and wise. I think it has to do with him being a fox but everyone laughed at me. Although his mate Daisy, thinks I’m right. She’s a petite thing. Topping out at five foot even, with short pink hair and big brown eyes. Kind of his opposite. She is a wiccan like myself, which would be forbidden the way our world is now. According to both Sam and Daisy, the prophecy that I’m involved with will allow them to be together. I really hope so because they are great together. Sam helps her not to be as flighty as usual. Daisy helps Sam to relax some, which he needs. I generally have training with both of them since Sam doesn’t like to leave her side. They teach me about our community. I have learned that all of us fell into classes and then we were placed in different groups. There were Wiccans, Lycans, Undead, Fae, and Demons. Lycans were shapeshifters that had no magical abilities other than shifting. They were generally different animals, which were their groups. They all spoke the general language of animals but only in their non human form. Since I was telepathic I could communicate with them in any form. I was thankful that Daisy had worked with me to control that power. I really didn’t want to hear thoughts I shouldn’t. Wiccans were broken down by powers. Elemental and Kinetic are the most common. However, there were Cosmic, Healers, and Neutral as well. Kinetics, like myself, our powers were more mental than anything. Elementals could control the elements around us. They all had a specialty within their element. Cosmic wiccans were very rare. They could manipulate space and time. Healers were exactly as it sounds. They would use their powers as well as potions to assist in healing others. Neutral was a catch all category. Anyone that didn’t fit in the other categories fell under neutral. Daisy was an Elemental wiccan. Her powers lay with flora and the earth. She explained that when she was born, a bed of daisies grew in the room, so her mom named her Daisy. She can grow anything that falls within the flora category. She takes after her mother with her powers but she also has a skill from her father who falls under water. She will never be able to drown but that’s as far as her water powers went. She seemed disappointed by that but I thought it was amazing. Neither Sam or Daisy could explain the Fae or Undead to me very well. So Phillip took over teaching about the Undead. I guess it used to be called not all alive until they changed it in the before time. The before time was when we didn’t have to hide what we were. Phillip had beautiful green eyes like a spring meadow and white blonde hair. Even at six foot tall he still looked like a teenager with his baby face. The Undead had Vampires like Phillip. There were also Ghouls, Zombies, and Wraiths. All of them survived on what they took from others. Ghouls and Zombies were similar, although Zombies didn’t retain as much of their intelligence. Wraiths were beings trapped in between worlds, the living and the dead. Very few in their categories were born like they are. Most are made. Vampires are the only ones that could be born from a true born female. Phillip explained that there were so very few born female vampires so they mainly turned others. No one could really explain the Fae to me but my mates tired. Jeremy was the first mate I found. He was a lycan that turned into a wolf. His wolf was chocolate brown with white on his nose and tail. He told me that his fur matched his hair in human form. I laughed until he showed me the white in his hair. He had pale green eyes with a golden brown ring around them. At six foot five he towered over me. He was teaching me about each race’s weaknesses. Even if he didn’t know about their class structure, he knew how to fight them. Jackson was the second mate I had found. Only a couple inches shorter than Jeremy. He was the night made flesh and blood. Midnight hair, dark blue eyes, and dark skin helped him blend into the night with little effort. Jackson was a true born vampire. He had scars littering his skin in many places. If a wound is severe enough it can leave a scar. He used to track down others of his kind who rebelled and cause devastation. That’s how he got the scars. He didn’t like to teach me anything so we spent our time working on my powers. Although we mainly relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company. The house we were in was an old plantation home according to Roy. It was beautiful but my favorite room was the library. All of us would meet there and relax after the long days. Phillip and Jackson were over at the chess table playing a game. They both looked like they were concentrating a little too hard. Jeremy and Daryl were sitting at the desk in the corner going over what our next move should be. Roy sat near them sipping some whiskey, he already drank all the absinthes. Sam was in fox form playing on the floor with Daisy. I sat on the other side of the room just watching them. I was working with my powers while I tried not to worry. I knew we were waiting to hear from Isabelle. She was an Elemental Fae who dealt in the realm of fire. She was five elven with reddish tinted skin and long maroon hair. She had beautiful violet eyes that always lit up when she was excited. I guess the difference in Elemental Fae and Wiccans was the Fae could take the form of their element, Wiccans could not. Isabelle and her husband, Luther, were trying to find a way to help break the spell on my memories. Luther was a nature sprite who could create and manipulate ice. He was the opposite of his wife. Blue tinted skin, long white hair, and ice blue eyes. He towered over all of us at six foot seven. He adored his wife and catered to her every whim. Watching them together always made me happy. They were so in love. We were waiting on some others that they had called in to help me. We were hoping they would arrive soon. All was quiet so far though. I was levitating a book when we heard the front door open and slam shut. The book dropped as I lost focus. No one moved but everyone was staring at the door of the library. Sam moved in front of Daisy and stood guard. She just started petting his back. I was about to get up when a man came barraging into the library with a growl. He was six foot two with black hair and hazel eyes. “What the Hell!” He roared as his eyes landed on Jeremy. “Are you insane! I can’t believe it’s true. Have you no respect for anyone? You’re here, with a wiccan, and vampires? What is wrong with you?” He motioned to Daisy when he said wiccan. Jeremy stood and sighed. “Justin, please calm down. You don’t have the first idea of what’s going on here. Just let me explain.” “EXPLAIN!” Justin was trembling with anger. I had enough. “Stop! I don’t care who you think you are but you will not come in here acting like an animal. I don’t care if you are a shifter. Now would you please shut your trap and have a seat.” My voice lashed out into the room. I could feel my power swirling inside of me. Without another word our new guest walked into the room and sat in the closest chair. He glared at me but didn’t say a word. I stood where I was with my hand on my hip, glaring back. “Chere? You need to calm down, your eyes are glowing.” “So is her hair.” Daryl sounded shocked. There was a mirror behind me so I turned to see what they were talking about. I froze as I caught a glimpse of myself. My blue eyes glowed softly, my pale skin and raven hair glowed a little brighter. I couldn’t stop staring at myself. I looked ethereal and not at all like myself. “Little one, I think you lashed out with your magic as well. I believe our guest is unable to speak. He’s turning a bright shade of red while moving his mouth.” Jackson sounded amused. I turned around to see he was right. Justin was trying to talk and becoming angrier by the minute. His hands gripped the arms of the chair like he was stuck there too. I couldn’t have done that, could I? Daisy smiled and walked over to me. “Your telepathy is growing. I have not seen anyone able to control someone like that before. I mean there are telepaths that can influence others but not like that. Fascinating.” I didn’t feel fascinated, I felt terrified. I didn’t want to be able to control people. Hearing people’s thoughts was one thing. But controlling their actions and movements was something all together different. I began to tremble in fear as I thought about what this power could do if misused. No wonder I was tossed away with everything blocked inside of me. The wiccans were probably scared of me to begin with, then add in the prophecy, I was damned. I felt panic begin to set in as Jackson pulled me into his arms. “Shh little one. It will be ok. If anyone can handle this power it is you. You have overcome so much already and rallied back. You are fair and kind, you would never misuse a gift such as this. You are the most amazing woman I have ever met my love.” I closed my eyes and tried to focus on my breathing. Jackson was right I could do this. It was my power and I would be able to handle it. Jackson always seemed to know what I was thinking. He claimed he couldn’t read my mind, I wasn’t so sure. I slid my arms around his neck as he stroked my hair. I could feel Jeremy coming closer to me. “Chere? I know you’re probably scared but Jack is right. You are the perfect one to have this skill. You may not remember anything about your powers but they are yours. I know you will be able to handle them.” I smiled and extracted myself from Jackson. I looked at my wolf and launched myself into his arms. I was the luckiest girl in the world. Both of my men were wonderful to me. I felt Jackson come up behind me and join our hug. They were right, I can do this. I heard growling as Jeremy and Jackson loosened their grip on me. We all looked at Justin who was really red now. It seemed all he could do was growl so he was doing so loudly. Jeremy sighed and crossed his arms. “Justin calm down. You won’t be able to move until she allows it so stop trying. Listen, Angel here is a wiccan. She is my mate and Jackson’s.” Justin looked shocked. “I know how it sounds, there is an old prophecy that explains it all. She will unite our community and take a mate from each race. We don’t know how it’s going to work yet but we’re taking it one problem at a time. First thing we have to do is break the spell on her memories. Jack thinks if that happens then she can help us figure out everything.” Justin looked at me skeptically. “I know how it sounds. I don’t really believe it myself to be honest, but I have two mates. Apparently that has never happened. I don’t want anything to do with this prophecy or the politics of our community. I would rather live with my two mates and be left alone.” Everyone looked at me. I couldn’t help how I felt but I hadn’t voiced it to anyone. I knew I couldn’t turn my back on everything but I wanted to. I sighed as everyone just stared. I waved my hand in the air as if pushing it all away. “I know that I can’t do that. It’s just what I want. Justin I’m sorry for forcing you to follow my instructions. I never meant to do that. I realize that treating my mate’s friend this way is rude.” “He’s my brother chere.” “Oh. Let me see if I can undue this. I think it’s worse now.” “Why little one?” “I essentially forced my magic on my brother in law.” Everyone laughed out loud. Roy and Daryl were doubled over and Phillip was crying he was laughing so hard. Daisy giggled as Sam the fox rolled on his back laughing. Jeremy and Jackson were holding each other up laughing so hard. Justin was even smiling. This was not funny in my opinion. Anger began to gather in my veins as I tried to focus on my power while the entire room was in chaos. “Oh Poppet! You are priceless.” Phillip was still laughing while he stated that. I felt my power surge through me as my anger increased. “Fine! All of you can discuss this without me then.” I began to walk out of the room when Justin grabbed my arm. I felt the same shock as I had with Jeremy. They were both wolves. He smiled at me and shook his head. “I think I would like to have you around. You have a fire about you that I haven’t seen in ages. I think I’m going to grow to like my sister in law. Even if I couldn’t tell she was a wiccan.” He smiled at me and winked. Everyone stopped laughing and just stared at us both. Everything fell away as I stared into his eyes. I saw a forest in the spring, with a black wolf approaching me. I watched as a sandy brown wolf passed by on my right. I was fascinated watching as both wolves circled each other. They were beautiful and graceful. I watched as they came closer to each other and froze. I could hear them gasp and begin to change back. “Chere!” I came back to Jeremy shaking me. “I’m alright. Just a vision.” “You have visions?” “I always have honestly. They have been becoming more frequent lately though. That’s how I found Phillip.” “What did you see?” Justin looked at me curiously. “Well I don’t know when it was but I saw two wolves circling each other. A black wolf and sandy brown wolf. They stopped and gasped then began to change back. I came back before I saw anything else.” “Justin is a black wolf chere. Does that sound familiar Justin?” Jeremy looked at his brother curiously. “No.” Justin was staring at me. “It was in the spring in a forest but I couldn’t tell you which one. I’m not very familiar with trees or geography honestly.” “Poppet? You said you found me due to one of these visions?” “Yes. I was in the car on my way back to our safe house and it came on. I saw you laying in a pool of blood dying. I knew there was more than one attacker, although I didn’t see them. I knew I had to save you.” “Why?” Phillip was staring at me in concentration. “I’m not sure. I just knew somehow that I needed to get to you.” “Why do you have visions poppet?” “Oh. I used to get them sometimes when I first came to stay at the Agency. I would see little things that had happened in the past. I never knew why. One of our people wanted to test me because he thought I was human with special abilities. He never did since I was always so busy. I guess he wanted to know why I could do certain things others couldn’t.” “It’s a good thing they didn’t test you little one. I could only imagine what could have happened if they accidently activated your magic.” Jackson sounded thoughtful. I thought about what he said. If I would have stopped to do those tests, where would I be now? I know he spoke to some scientists about me and they were extremely interested in me. If they would have figured out what I was or worse my powers activated. I shivered as I thought about them turning me into an experiment. I never would have found Jeremy or Jackson. They would have kept me there forever. “I’m glad I never had time then. I have a feeling they would have kept me there forever.” I wrapped my arms around my middle, trying to comfort myself. “Justin if you want to stay, I’m sure that will be alright. Chere?” “Yes Wolfie?” I couldn’t help sounding like a child. “Please tell me you don’t let her call you that.” Justin groaned. “She’s the only one.” Jackson laughed as Jeremy pulled me to him. “I think it’s time for bed baby.” Jeremy ignored them and picked me up bridal style. I nodded as he carried me out of the room. I saw Jackson following behind as Jeremy took the steps two at a time. I relaxed into his arms as we entered our room.
