Chapter 12

Once the order had been changed and we were safe from all out war, my crew settled in on the property. They were able to take their time setting up the security system around the homes. Some cameras even picked up parts of the road and woods. Eren was fascinated with all of it. He spent so much time with Jason and Tony that we hardly saw him. Lee said they were teaching him how to set everything up and access the system so he could view any camera he wanted. Azalea just let him go, she said there was no use in trying to stop him. Isabelle and Luther were preparing for tonight. They had planned a session with me under the moon. Daisy was still studying the potion that was brought for me. Thanks to Jake, she now had an open line to her parents and they were helping her work through the complex concoction. They were overjoyed to meet Sam, he was still nervous around them though. I sat on the front steps meditating. Jasper was trying to help Isabelle, but they mainly bickered. Poor Luther. Jeremy was running with his brother and his mate. Luna fit in here perfectly and she kept Justin in line. Jackson was reading in one of the rocking chairs close by. I had no idea where anyone else was but I didn’t need to. That was their business, not mine. I was practicing my magic again, just seeing if I could control it while doing other things as well. It was tough, I had a hard time focusing on multiple things at first. It was becoming easier as I practiced but I still couldn’t master the skill yet. I sighed as I heard Jasper yell that he was giving up. Jackson laughed as I opened my eyes. Jasper stormed up the stairs by me and plopped onto one of the other chairs. I guess practice is done. “What’s wrong Jasper?” I knew if I didn’t ask, he would pout until I did. I had learned that over the last couple days the hard way. “She’s crazy. She really thinks that the candles should be involved for light. It’s almost a full moon, it should be bright enough. If not then we can light candles or torches or whatever.” I rolled my eyes and stood. I sat on his lap and put my arms around his neck. “She’s just worried. She doesn’t want anything to go wrong. She’s just afraid that I’ll get hurt. Let her fuss about the candles and anything else she feels the urge to fuss about. It keeps her from worrying about hurting me in all this.” I watched his eyes dance as he thought it over. “You are right. I’m sorry mo chroí. I guess I’m worried to. I saw the spell before the traps were destroyed. I don’t like knowing that it is inside of you like a ticking time bomb.” I felt him shudder and pull me closer. I held him trying to have my presence calm him. He seemed to be trying but I could smell his fear. It was faint but it was there. Everyone seemed nervous about tonight, other than me. We had beat this spell once already and it had only been Daisy and Isabelle. We now had Jasper, Azalea, and Eren. It would all be fine, I just knew it. “Everything will be alright. I can feel it. Isabelle and Daisy were able to help me destroy a part of the spell already. With all of us, we might be able to get rid of it completely. I know you’re scared and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t.” “I don’t want you scared.” Jasper cried out. I pulled him closer to me. “It’s ok Jasper. I’m only afraid because I can’t do this on my own. I don’t see it like you do. I hate asking your whole family to put themselves in danger for me. Daisy as well. None of you should have to do this.” “You are truly magnificent. You don’t even fear for yourself. What did I ever do to deserve a woman like you.” It was more of a statement than a question but Jackson answered. “That’s easy. We don’t deserve her. She is more than anyone deserves.” “Jackson.” He knew I hated when they said stuff like that. “I’m sorry my love but it is true. I’m honored to just know you but I get to make you mine. That’s more than anyone deserves.” “He’s right.” Jasper agrees as I huff. Jackson and Jasper laugh at my reaction as Jeremy comes barreling onto the porch. He’s in wolf form and excited. I giggle at the express he has. His tongue is hanging out and his tail is wagging. It’s too cute for words. He yips and gets down on his front paws with his tail in the air. Ever since he let me cuddle with his wolf side, he would get playful with me. “Are you wanting to go for run? Are you chasing me or am I chasing you?” I know I could just talk mind to mind but this was more fun. He shakes his head and I sit on the porch floor with him. As soon as I’m off Jasper’s lap I’m pinned to the floor with him licking all over my face. Jackson and Jasper were laughing loudly. I’m giggling and trying to break free. “I know we never did that.” I hear Jake state. Jeremy sits beside me extremely pleased with himself. “You know if you could change like him, you’d do that same thing to me.” Sara teasing Jake has me giggling again. I sit up and scratch between Jeremy’s ears. I look toward Jake and Sara. He looks to be deep in thought and Sara is just rolling her eyes at him. She continues onto the porch and plops into one of the chairs. “Yeah, I probably would.” Jake seems to have made up his mind. It was my turn to roll my eyes. Jeremy snorts beside me. “Jake, you know you would.” “See even Angel agrees.” Sara seemed satisfied now. She looks quite pleased with herself. I smile at her and wink. Isabelle comes around the corner of the house fussing about the weather to Luther. I look at Luther and he is listening to his mate intently. I’m sure he was already sick of everything by now but you wouldn’t know it. He reminds her that none of us can control the weather. She waves him off and continues toward us. Jasper was right she was fussing too much. I sigh and get to my feet. Jeremy goes out of sight to change back. “Isabelle?” She seems startled when she hears me call for her. “Oh I didn’t know you were out here. I was just telling Luther that we should probably try to figure out what to do if we have bad weather.” “Isabelle. I know you are nervous about tonight, and worrying about me. You and Daisy have already beat this spell more than once. You saw what I couldn’t. With others helping you, you’ll be able to do this without issue. Please have faith in yourself, I do.” My little pep talked seemed to work. She squared her shoulders and nodded. Jasper smiled as he watched his sister leave everything alone and walk into the house more relaxed than before. “Miss Angel, thank you for that. She has been so worked up.” “Luther, call me Angel. And there’s no need to thank me. She just needed reminded that she can do this.” I shrug as he walks into the house with a nod. I feel arms around me from behind me. Jeremy kissed my neck and squeezed me. I loved spending time with him in any form but when I was in his arms, that was prefect. I sigh happily in his arms. I knew it was almost dinner time and before I know it will be night. I was nervous about tonight. I would never let any of them know that though. I didn’t want them to doubt themselves even if it didn’t work. I heard someone yelling for Daisy and running. What’s going on? Before we can move Daisy bursts out of the front door. She’s breathing hard but her eyes land on me immediately. I don’t like the look on her face. It’s a mixture of pain and triumph. “I know what it is. The potion was to strengthen the spell on your memories but not just that. It’s several potions in one. It would have also put you to sleep until the other potions trapped your magic again. Then the final potion would wipe your memory clean.” I’m too stunned to speak. Someone had tried to mess with my memory again. This time they wanted to wipe it out completely. Jeremy’s arms tighten around me. Jackson and Jasper are on either side of me trying to comfort me. Jake is confused but looking at me in horror. Sara is crying. “Someone tried to mess with my memory again?” The question falls out of my mouth. “Yes my lady. They must be scared that you are getting closer to fulfilling your destiny. You said the goblins had received a letter with the request. Did you see anything to help us figure out who the letter was from?” I try to look at the memory again and I don’t see anything different than before. I don’t know what I’m looking for though. I kept thinking that if Daisy could see it then maybe she could spot something I couldn’t. I feel my magic respond to the longing in my heart to share this with her. I look into her eyes and everything falls away. Daisy and I are standing together in the memory from the goblins. She takes my hand and we walk over to the letter they are holding. I still don’t see anything different. Then Daisy squeezes my hand. The look on her face tells me she found something. We come back to ourselves on the porch. Everyone is looking between the two of us worried. The smile that spreads on her face is brilliant as her eyes hold triumph. “I know who sent the letter.” Everyone’s attention flies to Daisy. “I’ve seen that type of letter before. The paper and wording are the same as used in the Gilbert family. They are one of the older families but not as powerful as the others. Most of them are neutrals, but their money and status makes them think they are above any other.” “Why would they care about the prophecy or me?” It didn’t make sense to me. “Angel? If you unite everyone what will that mean to the established hierarchy?” Sara questioned but I had no idea. “It means the councils will have to combine. That would have to be worked out to where there was the same amount of members from each race. Maybe they’re on the council.” Jasper reasoned out loud. “My lady, that isn’t all. In the new world that we create, you will be the ruling queen. They will have to answer to you for everything. Some may be scared of how you will rule.” “Queen?” My voice came out a whisper. Daisy couldn’t be serious. I was not royalty and I didn’t want to rule. “That has to be it chere. Every one of them have to be terrified what you will do once you unite the races. Especially if anyone has done you wrong before they locked your memories away. They’d be scared of retaliation. You’re very powerful on your own, then there is us. We would do anything for you, imagine the damage we could do together.” “Enough. Angel is a magnificent leader. She could handle anything but she doesn’t have to. Can’t this council or whatever handle things?” Jake knew I was scared. No one could see it in my expression but he could tell. “Well at first our little one would need to establish how to handle everything but I suppose the combined council could handle things after that. For now my love, we will handle one thing at a time. Let us enjoy dinner and then Isabelle and the others will help with your memory. We can address anything else after that.” Jackson pulled me from Jeremy and held me. He was right, I couldn’t borrow problems. Everything they brought up would happen after the races united. I needed to focus on the here and now. I still had to break the spell and find my other mates, not to mention finding out why the Gilberts were so dead set against me. I squeezed Jackson a little and nodded into his chest. Dinner first then spell time.
