Chapter 23

This weekend is sectionals. Also my birthday. And I cant wait for that. I cant wait for the right time I can drive my own car. I cant wait to grown up. This is feel amazing.

Now I'm walking in the hallways. Wearing my short pants, stripped tank, bomber jacket, ankle boots, and my beloved hat also my black ransel.

I put my hands inside my jacket pocket then walk to the choir room. I sit down on the back seat next to Blaine then Jake walks in and smiles at me and sit down in front of me.

After that day we went out we are getting closer. We texting and tell each other and it's cute. I think I really like him and he likes me too obviously.

"You want?" Sam asks me and give me a candy then sit down next to me.

"No thanks." I shake my head.

Suddenly Finn and the alumni walk into the choir room. Puck, Quinn, Santana, Mike, and Mercedes are here. They smile at us and standing on the front.

"All right, do you realize, standing before you are legends? Any single one of these guys could be President of the United States one day. And lucky for us, they've agreed to help us..." Finn says to us.

"Hang with the new chumps and see if some of our sheer awesomeness doesn't rub off on you. It will." Puck smirks at us.

"When you hear your name, pair up. Puck, you're with your brother. Mike, you're with Ryder. Marley, you're with Santana. Kitty, you're with Quinn. Wade, Mercedes. Now, your mentors are here to help you with whatever you need: Singing, dancing..." Finn got cut off.

"Birth control." Quinn cut him off.

"You're so funny and self-deprecating! We're so much alike!" Kitty says and points at herself and Quinn.

"Wanky." Santana chuckles.

"The worst mistake that we can make is to underestimate our competition. The Warblers are ruthless this year." Finn says to us.

"Don't forget about the Rosedale Mennonites. Any show choir that can raise a barn in five minutes deserves mad respect." Artie added.

"Marley and Blaine will handle our duet, and for the showstopper we're doing Gangnam Style." Finn grins at us.

"Okay, lumps, let me just say out loud what everyone here is thinking: You finally got an okay haircut, you're not doing that annoying half smirk as much as you used to, but you're still a i***t. No one in this room can tackle a massive dance number except for Brit. That includes your little "Hand-Jive" that, to me, looked more like a hand.." Santana rolls her eyes.

"Is there any way Mr. Schue can come back for this?" Joe asks.

"Listen to me, we have never lost sectionals before, and there's no way we're gonna do it under my watch. We can and we will succeed! We need an ambitious number with a strong dance element. That's the Warbler's calling card, and we need to blow them out of the water. And Mike said he could easily show one of our guys how to do the dance number." Finn says and points at Mike.

"I did?" Mike frowns.

"Crap. I, uh, I kind of forgot to ask you about that. But one of our guys is gonna have to take the lead with Brit. So who's it gonna be?" Finn grins at us.

"Hello? White Chocolate." Sam stand up from his seat and start making his stripper signature dance.

"Sit down." I roll my eyes.

The bell rings.

I stand up from my seat and hold my ransel then walk out from the choir room with Blaine.

"I cant even speak French and Finn want me to sing a song with Korean?" Blaine frowns.

"I'll help you out. Dont worry." I said to him and cross my arm around his elbow.

"Why Rachel and Kurt didnt come home?" Sam asks.

"Sam...." I frown at Sam.

"Kurt doesnt wanna meet me. I know that." Blaine let out a sigh.

"Blaine..." I rub his sleeve.

"Alright. Here is the thing we better have lunch together. Come on." Sam says to us.

"You pay." I grin at Sam.

"Yes you pay." Blaine nodded.

"It should be Kate who pay because she has her birthday this weekend." Sam simply said.

"Okay, I'll pay besides I will drive my new car soon." I grin at them. "Come on!" I said to them and take their hands and walk lead them.

Jake's POV

I went out from the choir room and hold my ransel also my binder. I cant stop starring at Kate. I really like her. I really into her. After we went out we texted and telling each other story and that was really amazing.

"Um Hey, I can't believe that we have to dance for this guy who's getting trained at the Joffrey Ballet School. He's gonna think I'm special needs." Ryder chuckles and walks next to me.

"Listen, man, I need to talk to you about something else. Last Friday I went out with Kate." I said to him.

"You did?" Ryder asks me.

"We just had dinner at Breadstix and told each other story." I said to Ryder.

"So this is like a thing?" Ryder turn his face at me.

"Not if it's gonna make us mortal enemies again. I'll end it if you want me to, but for the record, I wasn't just gonna hump her and dump her. She's different, she's special. And I have to admit that I really like her." I said to Ryder.

"No, don't break it off because of me." Ryder simply said.

"Yeah?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Yeah, but you better not snake the dance lead from me, all right? You don't get to have everything at this school." Ryder says to me.

"That's all yours, dude. I dont have any end zone moves anyway." I chuckle.

Ryder just chuckles and walk away. I turn my face and Kate is walk down in the hallways along with Blaine and Sam. I know they always together.

"Hey, bro the halfbro, you alright?" Puck shocked me and hold my shoulder.

"Yeah. Fine. I was just get distraction." I chuckle.

"Distraction or starring at Baby Hummel's butt?" Puck asks me.

"How could you know that?"

"Nobody had to tell me. Well, seems like you're really into her now." Puck says to me.

"I am. She is special and different." I nodded.

"Yeah if didnt mess up with Quinn, we might be still dating." Puck simply said. "Just dont be a d**k and ruin your chance, bro. And dont give up." Puck says to me and walk away.

Sam's POV

"So I've been thinking that we should do Hair Gel prom." Blaine says to us.

"That is so stupid. I dont wanna wear hairgel." Kate frowns.

"Me too." I nodded.

"Could you give me any other idea for senior prom?" Blaine groans.

"My idea will come in my dream time." Kate simply said.

Suddenly a phone is ringing. Blaine take his phone and look at the screen. "I have to go. My mom must be need something." Blaine says to us and take his bag.

"I will tell you when I get the best idea." Kate says to Blaine.

"Great." Blaine says and walk out from Kate's room.

"So what are we gonna do then?" I turn my face at Kate.

"Have no idea actually." Kate simply said then take her laptop then sit down on her bed.

I'm still laying on my stomach in her bed. "Wanna go out and buy some snacks?" I ask her but no answer. I move my body and turn my face at her and she is busy with smiling while looking at her phone. "Dude..." I roll my eyes.

"Umm yes, wh-what? Did you say something?" Kate turn her face at me.

"Who are you texting to?" I frown at her.

"It's Jake. Since we went out on last Friday, we both start texting each other and telling each other our story. He is really cute." Kate giggles.

"Oh I see." I simply said and turn my face around.

"Are you okay? You've been like a pms girl these days." Kate chuckles and lay down next to me.

"What is it?" I ask her.

"When a girl on her period and she become moody all day. Every girl got that but I'm not I guess." Kate chuckles.

"Because you're a guy." I chuckle.

"I'm not a guy." Kate protest.

"So are you both will dating or?" I raise my eyebrows at her.

"I dont know. He is cute but I'm still afraid with relationship. I mean, I'm still dont wanna get hurt. Maybe I'll think about that later." Kate half-smiled at me.

"You wont get hurt with me." I smile at her and rub her cheek.

"Of course because we are bestfriend. We might have argue but no one of us will hurt each other." Kate grins at me. "Why cant I find a guy like you huh?" Kate chuckles.

"Because there is only me." I chuckle.

"Yeah that's only you. No one else." Kate nodded and close her eyes.

"What if there were two?" I ask her.

"I might date the other one." Kate chuckles.

I turn my face and she just close her eyes. I put my hand around her chest and pull her closer to me. I dont know when she will notice me. Notice me that I'm the only one who loves her unconditionally and I wont hurt her like any other guy.

I'm afraid if she will date Jake. Our hanging out time will be less than before. But I will never leave her alone. Who knows that Jake will hurt her? Then who will be there wipe her tears away? Me. No one else. She might dont realize it now but soon or later she will. My love is bigger than any other guy to her.

Kate's POV

Back to glee club and the boys are having dance rehearsal with Mike, Finn, and Puck. And the girls are here along with Santana and Quinn in the choir room.

"Along with being beautiful, the three of us are National Showchoir Championship goddesses." Quinn says to us.

"We are winners. Which is why Finn has asked us to come and shower you with the inspiration that is the Unholy Trinity." Santana grins at us.

"Santana, Brittany and I knew each other so well that I could tell by the slightest quiver in Santana's upper lip which way we were gonna move..Whether our hips are gonna shake or shimmy." Quinn says to us.

"No. You girls have to be tight up there, okay? The judges love the feminine quality, and the Warblers just don't have it." Santana says to us.

"It's about being individuals. You know, we're all different. But it's also about synchronicity." Quinn says to us.

"Can you give us an example?" Marley asks.

"It's been a few months, but I'm the three of us could put together something on the fly." Quinn smiles then they stand up from their seat and walk closer to the band as the music start begin.

They ended up their performance with applauding from us. I'm applauding and smiling at them.

"Are you okay? You just look like someone gonna hurl." Santana frowns at Marley.

"Yeah. I'm just tired with all of those reharsing." Marley nodded.

The bell rings.

Marley stand up from her seat then walk away from the choir room in hurry. I stand up from my seat and take my ransel. "Do you know what happen to her?" Santana asks me.

"Nope. We havent been talk much lately. Or I guess we actually never really talk." I said to her as we both walk out from the choir room.

"I was surprised that Lady Hummel and Grandma Berry didnt come home for thanksgiving." Santana says to me.

"They have their own business there. New York makes everyone busy." I smile at Santana and walk to my locker.

Santana just shrug then walk away. I open my locker and put my binder inside my locker until someone shows me a dvd of FRIENDS with ribbon on it.

I turn my face and Jake is smiling at me. "What is this?" I chuckle.

"Just call it this is early birthday present. I already sent the rest to your house." Jake smiles at me.

"How could you know that this week is ny birthday?" I giggle.

"Umm you cant stop mentioned it and like remind me about that day." Jake grins at me.

"Thank you so much. This is really sweet and this is the first birthday gift I got after my dad's car surprise blew off." I smile at him.

"You like it?" Jake asks me.

"Are you kidding? I love it. Thank you." I smile at him.

Jake just smile back at me then he cups my cheek and pull my face closer to him and kisses me softly. I cant help it and kiss him back. We then pull our lips away at each other and smiling at each other.

"I'll see you around." Jake smiles at me and walk away.

I jump happily and hit my locker then turn my face to this dvd. I cant wait to go home and find that gift he wanna give it to me.

Sam's POV

I walk down in the hallways and holding my ransel on my back after we have reharsal for the male lead dance with Brittany. I'm going to my locker but my way suddenly stopped. When I see Jake kisses Kate in front of her locker.

My heart dropped. I though she would never kiss another guy except me but I was wrong. Maybe I will never get a chance to kiss her again after this. I'm jealous. She is mine.

They pull their lips away. Jake smiles at her then walk away. Kate just jumps happily and hit her locker with her hands. I never see her been so happy like this before but this time I saw her happy with someone else not me.

I let out a sigh and walk to my locker which is next to her. I open my locker and Kate is just looking at her dvd then turn her face at me.

"Hey, look at this. Jake gave me a box set of Friends dvd." Kate says happily.

"I only see one." I frown at her.

"Well, he said that he already sent the box one to my house. God, I think I'm falling in love with him and-and you have to know something. He kissed me and it was feel so good." Kate grins happily.

I'm just smiling at her and turn my face to my locker and take The Band Perry's album and give it to her. "Before I forget to give you this for your birthday present." I said to her.

"Sam, you know that I've been looking for this since a long time ago?" Kate raises her eyebrows at me.

"Yeah and I was looking for painting kit on ebay but then I found this so I bough it for you." I half-smiled at her.

"Thank you. This is the best birthday gift that I ever got." Kate smiles at me and hugs me.

I hug her back and rub her hair and kiss her head. "You're welcome."

Kate pushes my body away and smiles at me. "I'm gonna put this cd in my car and I'll listen to it like everyday." Kate says to me.

"That's good." I smile at her.

"Thank you, Sam. You always know the good thing to say or good thing to do." Kate smiles at me then shut her locker then walk away.

I'm still standing in front of my locker and watching her dissapeared. I really love her and maybe I cant accept that if another guy date her but what is the thing I can do? Nothing. I only want to see her be happy. That's it. I hope you'll notice how much I love you, Kate. Someday.

I walk into my house and see a box set of Friends dvd on the table and a letter on it.

I build a smile on my face and right this is from him. He is like really sweet and so much different with Puck I guess. And I think I'm in love again.

"Who's Jake?" Dad shocked me and walk downstairs.

"Uh he is a guy in glee club." I said nervously at dad.

"The one who went out with you last Friday? Is he your boyfriend or something?" Dad asks me.

"Dad, please." I roll my eyes.

"Why? You usually told me everything." Dad says to me and walk to the kitchen.

"Well, he is a sophomore. He is Puck's half-brother. He is Puckerman but he is totally different with Puck. He is cute. Half-black, half-white and jewish." I said to dad.

"I though you were dating Sam." Dad frowns at me and take a drink from refrigerator.

"Nope. Sam, Blaine, and I are only BFF. Alright, I'm gonna bring this thing upstairs." I said and hold that box set and bring it to my room.

I place that box set on my book rack. Jake is really cute. I think I really in love right now and I know he must be totally different with Puck. Because Puck never give me cute things like these. Oh God!

Sectionals

Today is sectionals day and we have sectionals in our auditorium. I'm so excited besides that today is also my birthday and I got many birthday present from people I love but I cant wait for Kurt's package from New York.

Now I'm just standing in front of the vanity mirror in choir room and fix my hair before the show begin because we are gonna perform last.

"Hustle up, you two. You're gonna miss show circle. And welcome back, girl." Mercedes chuckles as Unique and Marley walks in.

"What's show circle?" Marley asks.

"Come on." Santana takes her hand and let her to huddle up.

"It's a tradition before every competition." Tina answer as we are huddle up and ready to have show circle.

"It's something Mr. Schue made up. And today I want to add to it. Joe, how about you lead us in prayer?" Finn says then turn his face at Joe.

"Whoa, dude, Old Testament. There's Hebrews here." Puck says as he points at himself and Jake.

"Yeah, okay. This is one of my favorite Bible verses from Isaiah. Considering that the Warblers are so good, and that it's the first competition for a lot of you, I think it's appropriate. So do not fear because I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand." Joe says.

"And our righteous dance moves, amen." Artie added.

"All right! Ugh! Man, I-I remember our first sectionals like it was yesterday. We came together as a team because we had to. Because no one outside our circle knew how much we'd been through, and how much it meant to us to win it. This is our house. Look into the faces of these graduates. They've been to the mountaintop. This is just the first step in your climb to meet them there." Finn says to us.

"On three?" Santana grins at us.

We then walk out from the choir room and turn our way to the auditorium. We enter the auditorium that already full with audience and ready to have sectionals.

"A reminder that the American Legion Turkey Shoot begins at 6:00 p.m. So, please, drive carefully. Now, put your hands together for our distinguished panel of judges! Lima News Obituary Editor, Stan Cook! Chief Historian of the Lima Locomotive Museum, Harrison Paolucci! And the 2012. Defiance County Catfish Queen, Allison Metcalf!"

"Break a leg. I'm Hunter Clarington, and we're the Dalton Academy Warblers. Hope you enjoy the show." That Hunter guy standing on the front until the Warblers came out from the backstage and start singing.

They singing Whistle by Flo Rida. With their moves and their choreography that never they did before. I turn my face at Blaine and frown at him. Blaine just shrug and turn his face to the front.

"They're kinda weird." Sam whisper at us.

"Sam..." Blaine rolls his eyes.

The Warblers finish their first song then continue the second song. Live While We're Young by One Direction? Damn. You've gotta be kidding me.

I stand up from my seat and singing with them while they're singing the refrain. This is my favorite song.

"Kate, sit down." Sam pulls my hand.

"Why? Last year regionals we cheered each other. There is nothing wrong with that." I frown at Sam.

"Hunter is straight but he is a jerk. Dont think you gonna get his attention." Blaine simply said.

"I like Jeff actually." I grin at Blaine and sit down my seat.

"Do you even know who's Jeff?" Blaine frowns at me.

"The blonde one. Kurt introduced me to him when I went to Dalton and brough him his stuff." I simply said.

The Warblers ended up their performance with full of applauding from the audience. We then walk off from the audience and walk to the backstage as The Rosedale Mennonities start singing their song.

We walk to the backstage and streching out for our next number. The Rosedale Mennonities just sang one song and they ended up their performance and walk back to backstage.

I turn my face at Blaine and he take his phone from his pocket and shows me his phone screen and he got a call from Kurt. "Pick up, pick up!"

Blaine pick up the phone and walk away. I just let out a sigh and streching out before the performance begin. "Mr. Schue is here." Sam says to us.

"Oh God!" I shake my head.

Blaine walks back to me and hold his phone and smiles at me. "How?" I ask Blaine.

"He said he will call you later and he already sent you birthday gift. And he accept my apology and we planned to celebrate christmas together." Blaine says to me.

"We will have christmas in New York together." I grin at him.

"Wait what?" Blaine frowns.

"My dad and I planned to go to New York and have christmas there." I smile at Blaine.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the stage. The New Directions!"

We then walk to the stage in hurry and ready to have our performance. Until the music begin and Sam opened it with his solo dance.

In the middle of the performance Marley collapsed. Jake and Ryder lift her body up and bring her out from the stage and we then leave the stage and walk to the choir room. I dont know what's happening here.

"Does anyone have anything she can eat?" Kitty asks us.

"I have some leftover Halloween candy in my locker." Tina says and run away.

"I may have a juice box." Blaine says and walks away.

"I'll go get Marley's mom." Joe run away.

"This is bad. Never in the history of show choir competitions has anyone ever fainted." Artie says to Marley.

"She hasn't been eating. She's been skipping lunch." Jake says to Finn.
