Chapter 14

Senior Year

Senior year and I've finally found myself. I cut my hair shorter become shoulder length. I dyed my hair to dark blonde and I decided to go to Columbia University and enter the Art and Science Faculty even though there is no fashion design major.

Kurt is still staying in Lima and working in The Lima Bean. Meanwhile Finn really went to army and he postponed his wedding with Rachel which is kinda confusing me. But that's his choice. I dont wanna fight with my step-brother anymore because of that. That's it.

Now I'm walking in the hallways and just enter McKinley building. I'm wearing white cropped jeans, white converse, green long sleeves top, black ransel, and black fedora hat.

I'm still feel like summer. Well, I have my summer vacation with Sam. We went to the beach then we had baby sitting and earn money and I used my money to buy new bags and shoes. I made it.

I keep walking in the hallways and I see Jacob Ben Israel is interviewing Sam who is standing in front of his locker with some girls are around him and like crazy about him. They dont know Sam like the way I know him.

I shake my head and walk to my locker. "Excuse me." I roll my eyes and shouts to those girls around Sam because they block my locker.

I open my locker until much letters fall off from my locker. "Kate Hummel, how do feel to be popular?" Jacob Ben Israel turns his microphone and his camera to me.

"It's awesome. And I guess I have a lot of fans now." I said to him and shut my locker then go back walk in the hallways.

"What do you plan for your future?" JBI asks me.

"Well, I'm going to Columbia University. I already decided that I guess my dad will be agree with that." I said to him and walk to the choir room where the others already there. "Hey guys." I smile at them as they are standing and looking at our trophies rack.

"They said Rachel Berry was the group's undisputed star, so, really, the only question is: Which one of you is the new Rachel?" JBI asks us.

"Iam." Blaine, Brittany, Tina, and I suddenly said together and proudly.

We then look at each other and frown. No hell way. I'm gonna be new Rachel Berry. My voice is high and my big brother is her bestfriend and my step-brother is her boyfriend. That's. I'm related to her.

JBI and his camera man walk off from the choir room until Mr. Schue is walk down to the choir room and we then sit down on our seat. I'm just sitting down behind Blaine next to Sam and Brittany as Mr. Schue are standing in front of us.

"Glee! We are coming off of a National Championship, but it's time to look orward, And thanks to Glee now being the coolest club in the school. This shouldn't be a problem. All right." Mr. Schue grins at us. "Yes, we've lost some big voices. But we still have some huge ones in here. And I promise to do everything I can to replace the ones that we lost. And on that note, I'd like to introduce you to our newest member: The MVP of last year's nationals, Wade "Unique" Adams." Mr. Schue says to us until Unque walks into the choir room.

Tina and I look at each other and frown at each other. This is cant be happening like there will be one more contestant to be the new Rachel.

"That's a great haircut, Mercedes. I thought you graduated." Brittany simply said.

"I wanted to be somewhere where different was celebrated." Unique says to us.

"We are so excited to have you." Mr. Schue says to him as only Artie, Sugar, and Joe who clapping for him. "Guys where's the love?" Mr. Schue asks us.

"I think Wade is great, but the competition to be the new Rachel is already so intense, the last thing that we need is one more contender." Blaine says to Mr. Schue.

"The New Rachel?" Mr. Schue frowns.

"Every glee club needs a star performer. Rachel was that, and now that she's gone, many of us want the job." Tina simply said.

"Okay, we don't win with stars. We win as a team. One that supports new members. Now, I don't want to hear any more of this this "New Rachel" stuff, okay?" Mr. Schue says to us then turn his face to Unique. "Have a seat, Wade."

"Make no mistake: Unique will be the new Rachel." Unique says as he is sitting down next to Blaine.

I raise my eyebrows and look at him. "We decide this on our own, then Thunderdome style. So, here are the rules: Auditorium five o'clock." Blaine says to us.

I nodded and cross my hand on my chest. I have to win this since I'm related with Rachel Berry and I'm more popular than them. That's it.

"So, you're here because you need something to ask about your future?" Ms. Pillsburry asks me. "Oh you both are new couple in glee club?" She grins at me.

"Me and my shadows?" I raise my eyebrows.

"I mean, you and Sam Evans. Everyone keep talking about that." She said to me.

"Well, we're just bestfriend. That's it. I'm here because I need some university recommendation." I said to her.

"Okay... what's your problem?" Ms. Pilsburry asks me.

"So I really want to be a fashion designer and I also love science so I decided to enter Columbia University and join Arts and Science faculty." I said to Ms. Pillsburry.

"But there is no fashion designer major there." Ms. Pillsburry frowns at me.

"I know but I really want to go to New York after graduate. I dont wanna stuck in Lima like a sad sack." I said to her.

"Well, you said that you want to be a fashion designer but you also love science right? I guess I have a better school for you." Ms. Pillsburry grins at me and open her drawer.

I raise my eyebrows and she give me some brochures. "Fashion Institute of Technology?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Yes, it's called FIT. It's a state university of design, art also business that combined with technology and science. It's in Manhattan and this school has fashion designing major program. And many famous designer graduated from this school, for example Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Ralph Rucci, Fransisco Costa. And many more." Ms. Pillsburry smiles at me.

"Wow this is like school of my dream." I giggle.

"Yeah? You also can send your design if you wanna try out and dont ever give up." Ms. Pillsburry smiles at me.

"Thank you so much Ms. Pillsburry." I smile back at her and stand up from my seat and walk away from her office.

I walk in the hallways and keep reading to this school information. Wow I never heard about this school before and this is like amazing school for me. I finally get my future plan straight.

"What is this?" Sam suddenly walks next to me and points to the brochure I hold.

"Fashion Institute of Technology. I will try my best to get into this university and go to New York." I grin at him.

"Since when you obsessed become fashion designer?" Sam frowns at me.

"Since I was eight." I simply said and open my locker. "At least I'm not a guy who made an impression about werewolf this morning."

"Bella, I love you. And I'm not a werewolf." Sam makes an impression.

"Shut up or I will kill you." I simply said and put that brochure in my ransel. I'm gonna show it to dad. "Well, I have to go the auditorium for The New Rachel audition." I said to him and shut my locker.

"And since when you obsessed to be new Rachel Berry?" Sam frowns at me.

"Since they graduated. Senior year means everything, Sam. Means everything." I said to him and walk away.

I hold my ransel on my back and walk to the auditorium where we are going to have audition as the New Rachel Berry. Tina, Blaine, Artie, Brittany, and Unique are already here and standing on the stage. I throw my ransel to the corner of the stage and walk to them.

"We perform the song for Artie, he makes his choice, we go to Mr. Schue as a group, and we tell him who the new lead soloist is.

Hopefully, it'll be me, 'cause that's what Rachel wanted." Tina grins at us.

"Obviously it's me. I'm related to her." I smirk at them.

"Though I am uncomfortable doing this behind Mr. Schue's back, I am a director. Therefore, I never pass up on an opportunity to judge people." Artie says to us.

"What song are we singing?" Unique asks us.

"What Rachel would sing, if she were here.

The song of the summer Call Me Maybe." Tina simply said.

"Yes." Brittany said happily.

"Do you need time to prepare?" Tina asks Unique.

"I can sing any song, any time. Just press play, and get back." Unique simply said as the music start begin.

"So Artie, who's the new Rachel?" Blaine asks Artie.

"Well..." Artie looked at us one by one.

"Artie.." I smirk at Artie.

"You have to be fair, Artie. Just because you love one of us and you choose her." Tina protest.

"Alright, to make it fair, I will make online poll for that so be patient with the result." Artie says to us and wheel away from the auditorium stage.

I exhale and take my ransel and walk away from the auditorium and go home. I will tell that brochure to dad and tell him that I wanna go to that school. That's my dream.

I'm sitting down next to dad in living room as he is busy with watching news from the tv. Kurt is in upstairs and Carole isnt home yet from her work.

"Dad?" I called him.

"What?" Dad turn his face at me. I didnt answer him but give those brochure about FIT to him. "What is this? Fashion Institute of Technology?" Dad frowns at me.

"I want to go there. I actually planned to get into Columbia University and join Arts and Science faculty but Ms. Pillsburry told me that there is no fashion designing major program so she recommended me to this university." I said to dad.

"Kate, this is only the first day of senior year." Dad says to me.

"I know that but I want to focus with my dream and this unuversity it's like my dream school. I really want to get there, dad." I said to him.

"Well, just do that. I let Kurt to choose his own path. And he did. And I also let you to choose your own path and I wont stop you. If this is gonna make you happy, just do that. Go there. Reach your dream." Dad smiles at me.

"You sure?" I ask him.

"I am. I might dont understand about what you and Kurt want to be. I mean, out there some kids want to be a doctor or astronaut but you want to be a fashion designer and Kurt want to be a Broadway star and those your dream. I wont stop you. You can choose your path and I'll be happy to support you as your good dad." Dad smiles at me.

"Thank you so much. I love you." I hug dad.

"I love you too, Kate." Dad hugs me back and kisses my head.

"I promise you. I want to focus with my future and I will go to New York. That's it." I grin at dad.

"I cant wait for that." Dad smiles at me.

I giggle and stand up from my seat and walk upstairs. I walk to my room and push my body to my bed and looking at this university information.

Sam's POV

I'm laying my body in my bed and looking at the ceiling. I dont know why I cant get Kate out of my mind. We went to summer together and we kind of had summer fling. Well, not us but only me I guess.

She is the only one who understand me. She knows me better than anyone else and I miss her lips and her kisses like all the time. What's wrong with me? Am I in love with her or something? Ugh I dont know.

Suddenly my computer is ringing. I turn my face to my computer and Kate is calling me from my skype. Wow she knows I'm thinking about her. I press 'enter' button and answer her call.

"I told my dad about this university and he let me to choose my path." Kate grins at me.

"What university?" I frown.

"The university I told you this noon. Fashion Institute of Technology, FIT." Kate raises her eyebrows at me.

"Oh I was forget." I simply said.

"Come on be happy for me." Kate whimpered.

I grin at her. "Done?"

"Ugh I hate you. By the way, pick me up tomorrow morning because my dad is going to DC tomorrow. See you." Kate says to me and hung up the skype call.

I exhale and lay my body in my bed. I guess I'm into her. I'm into Kate. Damn! I cant have friendship with a girl or I might fall in love with her. But what else I can do? I substituted Kate for a girlfriend for a long time and there's none better than her. Maybe I just need to pretending that we still have bestfriends with benefits besides that I'm not sure with this feeling.

Kate's POV

"Blaine, I guess you should convience Kurt to go to New York." I said to Blaine while taking some food.

"Yeah I know. I cant even stand looking at him here. I mean stay in Lima." Blaine says to me.

"His dream is really big and I want to get that. My dad and I cant convience but maybe you can since you are his boyfriend." I said to Blaine.

"I'll try my best for that." Blaine nodded.

"I mean, New York needs people like him right? He want to go there so bad but just because of a letter, he blew his dreams away." I said to Blaine and sit down on glee club table next to Sam.

"Who are you talking about?" Sam asks me.

"Kurt. I told Blaine to convience Kurt to go to New York." I said to Sam and start eating my food.

"You had enough time, so who is it?" Tina asks Artie.

"You can't rush the casting process. My genius needs it's dream time." Artie says to Tina.

"You guys are the Glee Club, right?" A brunette girl standing near our table and smile at us. "Hi. I'm gonna try out. I'm a sophomore. My name is Marley." She says to us.

"Okay, well, lots of competition, so good luck to you." Tina simply said to her.

She just smile at us and walk away. I turn my face and Sam is starring at her butt. I roll my eyes and move his face to look at his food. Boys.

"Unique offers her greetings and salutations." Unique joins us with wearing make up on his face.

"Wade, you can't wear that makeup and stuff in here. You have to understand how this stuff works. It's like Game of Thrones." Sam frowns at Unique.

"Yeah, the peace between us and the truly popular kids is weak winter is coming. It's not gonna take much for us to get smacked down to the bottom again." Artie says to him.

"Maybe you should just save Unique for performances and be Wade the rest of the time, hmm?" Blaine says to him.

"All right I'll go take off my face." Unique says to us and walk away with bring his foodtray.

Suddenly, Kitty, Phill and Bobby join to our table. "Hey, glee people." Kitty greeted us.

"Hey, Kitty." Artie smiles at her.

"Hey, you guys see the new lunch lady? She's so fat, they took a picture of her last Christmas. Still printing." Phill says to us then laughs.

I turn my face and see the new fat lunch lady. I didnt say anything and eating my food. I got to be honest that I dont like these people. I mean Kitty and that guys.

"Hey, she has to wear a watch on both wrists because she covers two time zones." Bobby laughs.

"Maybe she has, like, a medical condition or she swallowed somebody with a medical condition." Brittany said innocently.

"Right, Artie?" Bobby points at Artie.

"When she sits around the house, she really sits around the house." Artie says nervously.

"Attaboy. Attaboy!" Bobby laughs and applauding proudly.

I turn my face at Artie and frowns at him. Made fun of someone is not really him and I guess there is something wrong with him. I know Artie so bad.

I'm walking in the hallways alone and holding my ransel on my back until I see Artie is in front of his locker. I'm gonna find out about him lately.

"Artie, dont lie to me. You like Kitty, arent you?" I frown at Artie.

"Wait, are you jealous with that?" Artie smiles at me.

"If I say yes, will you put me on the top from New Rachel Berry battleship?" I raise my eyebrows at him.

"Umm.. no." Artie shakes his head.

"Well, no. I'm not." I simply said.

"I can change the poll result." Artie says quietly.

"No. I though I already made it clear that I love you but we are over. I dont wanna go out with a cheater anymore." I said to him.

"Because you going out with Sam." Artie simply said and shut his locker then wheel away.

"We arent go out." I frown at him and walk next to him.

"Then why are you asking me that when you said you over me and you didnt date Sam?" Artie asks me.

"Because you made fun of the lunch lady and it wasnt you and since Kitty and those guys sit down with us you become weird. I know you so bad. We went out for more than a year, Artie." I said to him.

"And I know that. You jealous with that." Artie simply said and wheel away.

"I'm not!" I groan and standing in the hallways.

"Are you okay?" Sam frowns at me.

"Why every guy is the same? Ugh! I decided to be a lesbian after this." I groan.

"Haha what's wrong with you huh?" Sam chuckles.

"Nothing's wrong but I want to be a lesbian. That's it. I hate guys now." I said to him and cross my hand around his elbow. "By the way we have glee club audition now. Come on." I said to Sam.

"Yeah." Sam nodded.

We both walk in the hallways and turn our way to the auditorium. Artie turn his face at us. I leave Sam's hand and walk to the audience seat and sit down right behind Kurt who join the audition for the new member.

"Okay, let's get started. Remember, guys, we're looking for superstars." Kurt says to us and turn on the handycam.

I just looking at my score board. Until a guy walks in and standing on the stage. "I'm Stoner Brett." He said to us.

"Alright, show us what you've got." Mr. Schue says to him.

"This is Buster's Gettin' Hot. This is gettin' hot, this is gettin' hot Got my mind on my money and my money on my mind Sipping on a 40 while I'm pushing on the dime Feel the pain, the game Yeah, Lil' Wayne, Lil' Wayne." He is rapping with no beat or anything.

"Oh weird." I shake my head.

"Okay, thank you. Next!" Kurt shouts.

Stoner Brett walk off from the stage then a girl walks in bring a tape and place it on the ground of the stage.

"De'wanda Umber." She said to us and start playing the tape.

The music start begin and she is start dancing. I'm waiting for her to show us her voice but she is keep dancing without singing.

"Are there words to this?" Blaine asks.

"She gotta go." Unique simply said.

"Alright thank you, miss." Mr. Schue stops her.

She stops her tape and grins at us and walk off from the stage. "Next!" Kurt shouts.

A guy suddenly walks in. He looks cute and hot at the same time. He then standing in front of the microphone and looking at us.

"Hello, sir. What's your name?" Mr. Schue asks him.

"Jake." He simply said.

"Got a last name, Jake?" Mr. Schue asks him.

"Uh, just Jake." He says to us.

"Okay, well, show us what you got Just Jake." Mr. Schue says to him.

The music suddenly begin and he start singing. "How could he become hot and cute at the same time?" I ask.

"He's so sexy." Sugar says.

"No, he's not." Sam shakes his head.

"Yes, he is." Unique simply said.

I show my hand to Unique and Sugar then hi-five with them. This guy got a voice and he is so sexy and cute. I hope he will get in.

"Okay that's enough, Jake." Mr. Schue stops him.

"I don't get to finish?" Jake frowns.

"We got a lot of people to see." Mr. Schue says to him.

"But I've been practicing." Jake frowns at us.

"We've seen enough. Thank you." Mr. Schue says.

Jake just looks angry at us until he push the music sheet stands and make it fall to the ground. "That's rude and unacceptable." Kurt says to him.

"Kurt, I'll handle this." Mr. Schue says to Kurt. "Jake, come on, man, why don't you pick up the music stand?" Mr. Schue says to Jake.

He jus shrug and walk away from the stage. I exhale and turn my face to the score board I hold. I want him to get in but that was rude.

"Next!" Kurt shouts.

A girl who greeted us during lunch today walks in. She smiled at us and standing in front of the microphone. "My name is Marley Rose, and I'll be singing New York State Of Mind written by Billie Joel." She said to us.

"Popularized by one miss Barbra Streisand." Unique added.

I didnt say anything but take my phone from my jeans pocket as she start singing. Tina nodges me and I turn my face to the stage. I heard her voice clearly and she got a voice that almost like Rachel. No way, I'm gonna be the new Rachel.

That girl ended up her song with full of applauding from Mr. Schue and those who's not competing for the New Rachel. I just look at each other with Tina and Brittany.

"Wow." Mr. Schue smiles at her.

"Thank you. Thank you." She smiled at us and walk off from the stage.

"Now, that's what I call star quality. What do you guys think?" Mr. Schue asks says to us.

"Ten." Blaine simply said.

"It was good." Artie says to Mr. Schue.

I just roll my eyes and exhales. Brittany is yawning and Tina just pouted. One more contestant about the New Rachel audition and I will win that. Because I'm related to Rachel Berry.
