Chapter 15

I'm walking in the hallways along with Blaine after we bith go out from our classroom and we are going to the choir room and have a little glee club with the others actually to know about the New Rachel.

"Isnt that summer outfit?" Blaine asks me.

"Well, I'm feeling hot like summer." I simply said to him.

Yes. I'm wearing an short pants black overall. White converse. Peach fedora hat and my black ransel. It's still feel like summer for me and I just feel awesome like every day.

"You already talk to Kurt?" I ask Blaine.

"Not yet. But I will talk to him this noon." Blaine says to me.

"Okay good." I nodded.

Blaine and I keep walkinf in the hallways until we both enter the choir room and Kurt is busy with arranging the music sheets on the ground.

"What's this?" Blaine asks Kurt.

"I'm organizing all the sheet music." Kurt answer until Artie wheels in. "Artie, go around it, not over it." Kurt says to Artie then turn his face at me. "Kate, that's summer's outfit."

"I'm just have my experience in fashion okay." I said to him.

Tina suddenly give Artie a chocolate cake. "This is for you and no, it's not a bribe, because we all know Rachel told me herself that I'm the new Rachel." Tina says a bit loud.

"MVP in the house." Unique walks in wearing a dress, bob wig, and high heels.

"Bro, I thought we agreed you'd only wear that stuff onstage." Joe says to Unique.

"What's wrong with you guys? This club is about diversity and acceptance. Or at least it used to be. And another thing since when did everyone become so obsessed with who's the biggest star?" Kurt frowns at us.

"Since day one you and Rachel fought over solos for three years." Tina says to Kurt.

"Yes, and we need a new lead and I know it will be me." I said to them.

"You too, now?" Kurt frowns at me.

"Oh yeah." I nodded.

"No more stalling, Artie. Who's the new Rachel?" Tina asks Artie.

"Tell us." Brittany says to Artie.

"After meticulous deliberation and an online poll, the new Rachel is Blaine." Artie says to us.

"What? I though we already made it clear that I'm the new Rachel." I frown at Artie.

"Kate, you were second. Blaine only won five votes away from you." Artie says to me.

"How?" Brittany frowns.

"Brittany, you were a close third." Artie says to Brittany.

"I came in fourth?" Tina frowns at Artie.

"Let's not worry about fourth or fifth place." Artie simply said and about to eat that chocolate cake.

"And we don't need to talk about this, either." Tina simply said and take that cake from Artie's hand.

"Why do you hate strong black women for?" Unique glares at Artie.

"Guys, this young lady gave hands-down one of the best auditions I have ever seen. Let's give it up for our newest member, Marley Rose." Mr. Schue walks in with that girl next to him and smiles at us.

"Marley, on behalf of all of New Directions welcome." Blaine says to her.

"Thank you. I'm really excited to be here." Marley grins at us.

The others are applauding. Tina and I just roll our eyes. I cross my hands on my chest then turn my face at Artie and glares at him.

"I really like your sweater. Where'd you get it?" Sugar says to her.

"Oh. Thanks. Um, J.Crew." Marley says to us.

"Really?" Sugar frowns.

The bell rings.

"Alright, so we will start our rehearsal with black outfit." Mr. Schue says to us. "Kurt, can I talk to you for second?" Mr. Schue turn his face at Kurt and walk to his office with Kurt follows him.

"Come on, have lunch with us." Joe says to Marley as we walk out from the choir room.

"Blaine, what are you doing after school?" I ask Blaine.

"Have a date with your brother. You want me to convience him to go to New York right?" Blaine raises his eyebrows at me.

"Oh right." I let out a sigh.

"Why?" Blaine asks me.

"There is a Tomford Vanity Fair in Columbus and I want to go there and maybe I can get their sunglasses." I said to Blaine.

"Only for today?" Blaine asks me.

"For a week actually." I said to him and take my food.

"We can go there tomorrow then." Blaine says to me. "I also looking for their sunglasses collection." Blaine grins at me.

"Sure. You're the best." I grin at Blaine.

Blaine just chuckles and walk to glee club table. "But I'm still the best of the best right?" Sam grins at me.

"As long as you wont make Taylor Lautner impression." I chuckle and walk to glee club table and sit down there with Sam sit down next to me. No wonder why everyone thinks that we are dating because we are like together all the time.

"I have to make a confession that I wont sing again since Blaine Warbler won the New Rachel Berry battleship." Brittany says to us.

"Brittany, I'm sorry, but I won fair and square. You can't just decide not to sing anymore. We all need your voice." Blaine says to Brittany.

"I had a song In my heart, Blaine Warbler, and you killed it. Now I have a dead song in my heart, and pretty soon, the corpse of my dead heart song is going to start to smell." Brittany says to Blaine.

"I must protest." I simply said and raise my hand.

"What else now?" Blaine sighs.

"Kate, I though we already made a deal about this." Artie says to me.

"I'm related to Rachel Berry. I used to date Finn Hudson. And now my brother is ger bestfriend. Then Finn is become my step-brother which is weird, I know that but I'm related to her. Even before graduate Rachel hugged me and told me herself that I'm gonna be the new lead and she gave me her picture and I stick it in my locker. Oh and I was there when we sang our first number in glee club." I said to them.

"That should be Kate and I. We sang our first number in glee club." Tina nodded as agree.

"Okay guys, enough. This is only stupid game that we made." Blaine says to us.

"Because you won so you can say that's stupid." Tina simply said.

"Blaine is totally right, guys. Get over it okay." Artie says to us. "By the way, have you heard from Finn?" Artie asks me.

"Nope. I though you cant standby with your phone all the time while you're in army." I frown.

"Hey, guys." Kitty greeted us and joinned us along with Phill and Bobby. "Okay, guys. Since we can't do a popularity homecoming float with all white people, I say I think we should do one with all white chrysanthemums." Kitty says to us.

"That's a good idea." Phill simply said. "We need a float, why don't we all just ride her?" He said and points to the fat lunch lady.

I let out a sigh and eating my food and pretend like I dont see anything. I'm not comfortable making fun of her. Really.

"Look at her boobs. It's like two grocery bags full of soup." Sugar simply said.

"That's really mean." Marley frowns at us.

"Excuse me?" Kitty raises her eyebrows at her.

"You don't know her. You don't know what her life is like." Marley simply said.

"So? Why do you care?" Kitty simply asks.

"Because she's my mom. I thought you guys were different." Marley says with disappointed and take her food tray then walk away.

I turn my face at Blaine and the others and we just half-smiled at each other. I got to be honest that I dont like to sit down along with Kitty and these two guys. First they were making fun of Kurt when he was working in the Lima Bean and second they made a new glee club member ran away because of them.

Sam's POV

I'm sitting down on the edge of Kate's bed until she walks in bring a food tray with some food in it and two cokes. Yeah I'm in hers. She said she was bored so she asked me to come here and we wont have sleepover here since her dad wont let us.

"Be honest with me. Who should be the New Rachel Berry?" Kate asks me.

"I cant choose." I said to her.

"Sam..." Kate groans.

"Okay it should be you. You are controlling like her. That's it." I said to her.

"So the controlling huh?" Kate rolls her eyes.

"I'm hungry. We can talk about this later." I simply said and stand up from my seat and take a burger from Kate's table.

"Sam..." Kate groans.

I chuckle and put the burger inside her mouth and make her stop whimpering like a baby and glares at me. I cant help it and laugh out loud looking at her. Kate is still pouting at me then chewing that burger. I keep laughing until Kate get choked and I take a glass of water quickly and give it to her.

"I will kill you after this." Kate simply said to me.

"You just need to stop whimpering like a baby." I said to her and eat a bag of potato chips.

"I'm still can accept that Blaine won the new Rachel Berry battleship." Kate sighs and turn on the computer.

I'm still sitting down on her bed behind her chair. Suddenly a phone is vibrating. I turn my face and her phone is vibrating and she just got a text from Artie. Are they getting back together?

"Are you getting back together with Artie?" I ask Kate.

Kate turn around at me and shakes her head. "Nope. I dont want any more relationship. I just want to focus with my future." Kate says to me.

"You really want to go to that fashion school?" I raise my eyebrows at her.

"Yes. And I need your help for that." Kate smirks at me and pinches my cheeks then turn around to her iMac.

"With?"

"This. I already made some design about men clothes and maybe you could try to choose the best one." Kate says to me.

I stand up from my seat and standing behind her chair and looking at her computer. "Why dont you ask Kurt?" I ask her.

"Kurt is typical guy who cant dress like men. I mean he is more fashionista than mostly men. So my choice is only you or Blaine. But since Blaine went to have a date with Kurt so I took you here. Just choose." Kate says to me.

"Well, I like this one." I said to her and points to a design and touch her iMac screen.

"Sam, your hand is full with potato chips powder." Kate says and stand up from her seat.

"And then?" I raise my eyebrows.

Kate takes a baby wipes from her vanity table and clean my hand with that. It feels something different in me. But I'm sure that there is nothing different in her. I mean like I cant deny it anymore that I'm totally into her but she just want to stay being friends and no more relationship.

"Dont touch my stuff until your hands are clean. I'm kinda have OCD attack sometimes." Kate chuckles and kisses my cheek.

I move my face and our lips touching. I grab her lips and kiss her as she is kissing me back and put her hands around my shoulder and sitting down on her lap. This is what I always miss: her lips and her kisses.

Kate pulls our lips away and laughs. I chuckle and look at her. "Once more?" I smirk at her.

"Make out is all what you think." Kate simply said and leave my lap then go back to sit down in front of her study table.

"You like it. I know that." I chuckle and tickling her from behind.

"Haha stop it. I have something to do now. We can continue that after this." Kate chuckles and pushes my hands away.

"You dont mind to have bestfriend with benefits like this with me?" I ask her.

"No. Well, I want to have intimacy without any feeling. I mean I want to kiss someone and hug him or make out with him without any feeling or worrying about getting hurt. Besides you dont have any feeling for me right? So do I." Kate says while looking at her computer.

"Yes, you're right." I said to her and hug her from behind and put my hands around her belly.

"Yeah like in the movie." Kate simply nodded.

At the end of the movie, the guy was falling in love with that girl. And I guess I also the same. I mean I'm into Kate and I dont wanna any other guy take her away from me except her dad and Kurt. I just want her stay with me. I can keep pretending like I dont have any feeling for her as long as she wont run away from me.

Kate's POV

Dad and I are carrying Kurt to the airport so he can go to New York. After convienced him for a long time and he finally changed his mind and he want to go to New York without any kind of plans. Well, actually I told him to get a job in Vogue.

"You'll be fine there." Dad says to Kurt while driving.

"Oh I have to go back to McKinley after this for a glee club rehearsal." I said while looking at my phone.

"With that new member?" Kurt asks me.

"I dont know. She kind of mad yesterday because the new fat lunch lady is her mom and then you know Kitty and her friends made fun of her while they were sitting with us during the lunch." I said to Kurt.

"And you also made fun of her?" Dad asks me.

"Kate even cant make fun of herself, dad. It's impossible if she made fun of anyone else." Kurt laughs.

"I didnt, dad. Make fun of someone is not really my things." I said to dad.

"I see that." Dad simply nodded until he park his car in front of the airport. "All right. As soon as you find a place to live, I'll ship you the rest of your stuff. And you'll get enough cash from selling your car to get you through at least two weeks in a motel. And the emergency credit card, which is only for what?" Dad says to Kurt

"Emergencies. Dad, this is silly. I don't have to be in New York to reapply for NYADA. So I can find a job that pays me the same amount as Lima Bean, but pay ten times more in rent?" Kurt turns his face at dad.

"Yeah, because it's an adventure." Dad nodded. "Look, all great artists need a little struggle in their lives. Didn't you tell me that Julia Roberts sold shoes in New York before she made it? Good enough for Pretty Woman, good enough for Kurt Hummel." Dad says to Kurt.

"You scared?" I ask Kurt.

"Terrified." Kurt simply said and went out from the car.

I went out from the car and moves to sit down on the front seat as Kurt is taking his suitcase from the car baggage and then standing near my window seat.

"New York is gonna be a breeze compared to Lima. Think about all the crap you've been putting up with the last couple years. You know the difference between this place and New York?" Dad says to Kurt.

"Decent bagels?" Kurt raises his eyebrows.

"New York is filled with people like you. People who aren't afraid to be different. You're gonna feel at home there. If you're not scared, just means you're not sticking out your neck far enough." Dad smiles at Kurt.

"You truly are the world's greatest dad." Kurt chuckles.

"I know. It's written on the coffee mug you got me for Father's Day." Dad says to Kurt.

"Go away. You're gonna miss your flight." I said to Kurt.

"I'm gonna miss you both." Kurt half-smiled at us.

"You can always come back." Dad says to Kurt.

"I love you." Kurt half-smiled at us and walk away.

"I love you, too, Kurt." Dad says.

Kurt holds his suitcase and walk to enter the airport. I turn my face at dad and he just half-smiled at me until I see he hold his tears.

"Just cry if you want. I wont tell anyone else." I said to dad.

"You wouldnt understand until you get children or become a single parent for a long time, Kate." Dad says to me and start driving.

I hold his hand and smile at him. "You got your little girl here, dad."

"I know that." Dad rubs my hair. "Well, since your brother decided to sold his car and you can get his. So I will buy you another one after you get your license." Dad says to me.

"It's up to you. Honestly, I kinda like it when my dad drive me every morning to school." I giggle.

"You will get your sweet seventeen birthday gift. I wont miss that, Kate." Dad smiles at me.

"Like the first time you missed my sixth birthday after mom died." I simply said.

"She was like party planner. She remembered everything. But then to make you not mad at me, I brough you to toys store and book store and I let you to choose everything you wanted and you finally smiled at me." Dad says to me.

"I was cheap right?" I chuckle.

"Cheap or not. You are my precious thing that I cant exchange with everything I had." Dad rubs my head.

"So when Carole went back from Austin?" I ask dad.

"I dont know. She said that when her sister is getting better she will back. Why?"

"Nope. It's just only you and I now. And I'm thinking about daughter-father things to do." I giggle.

"What do you want to do huh?" Dad chuckles.

"I'll make a list later." I grin at dad.

"Well, it's arrived. You want me to pick you up from school this evening or?" Dad asks me.

"I can go home with Blaine or Sam." I smile at dad. "See you, dad." I went out from his car and wave him a goodbye.

"Call me if you need someone to pick you up. I might be at the shop. Take care." Dad says to me and drive away.

I turn around and walk to McKinley building. I dont mind if my dad have do drive me every day to school because it means that he will know all my activities and my friends but also I know that my dad is tired and he is become busier since he us officially a congressman now. Maybe get a new car is better choice.

I keep walking in the hallways and turn my way to the choir room as the others already there. "Sorry, I'm late." I said to them.

"Where have you been?" Blaine frowns at me.

"Drove Kurt to the airport." I said to them.

"You cant drive." Sam simply said.

"Okay my dad is driving. I just follow him. We drop Kurt off to the airport then he carried me back here." I exhale.

"He really went to New York without any kind of plan?" Tina frowns.

"It's a new adventure, Tina." Blaine says to Tina.

"Exactly." I nodded as agree.

"So since I'm officially The New Finn Hudson. Let's make some plan to apologize to Marley." Sam says to us.

We just look at each other and frowns. "Who told you that you are New Finn Hudson, Sam?" Tina frowns at Sam.

"Myself." Sam says innocently. "I'm the quarterback of football team. And we both also same that Quinn Fabray was our first ex-girlfriend." Sam says to us.

"Finn is so much taller than you and more handsome. And he doesnt have a big mouth." I said while looking at Sam from head to toe.

"Are you dating Blaine Warbler now?" Brittany frowns.

"Guys, hear him out." Joe says to us.

"We need a leader and Sam is the right one." Artie says to us.

"Alright thank you. So we need to apologize to Marley. We got one new member and now she is gone because of Kitty and that two guys." Sam says to us.

"Honestly, I'm not comfortable sitting with them." I said to the others.

"Yeah me too. Make fun of someone is not us. We usually be the one who make fun of not like this." Blaine nodded.

"I was out of the line. Sorry, Aspergers." Sugar says to us.

"Alright, let's apologize." Sam says to us and walk out from the choir room.

I exhale and walk out from the choir room and follow the others. I see that Marley is standing in front of her locker and Sam is standing behind her.

"Hey, Marley, um, just wanted to apologize for all of us and beg you not to quit." Sam says to her. "Look, I get you. Like, for instance, I know that that sweater is from Walmart and your mom sewed the J. Crew label into it."

"How do you know that?" Marley asks Sam.

"Because my mom used to do the same thing for me. The best thing about Glee Club is it's not about labels. If you can sing, if you can dance, you belong. And, dude, you can sing." Sam says to her.

"I don't know. You say that, but the way you were making fun of my mom, something doesn't feel right." Marley says to us.

"We came to apologize." Blaine says to her as she turn her face at us.

"I think being popular felt a little too good, and we forgot ourselves." Tina says to her.

"Well, I didn't. I was always popular, but I do forget to wear underwear sometimes, though." Brittany simply said.

"The best part about Glee Club is that everyone gets to be a star. Which is why we're all hoping that you could come to rehearsal with us this afternoon and maybe sing lead vocal on one of the songs we're working on." Blaine says to her.

"And if words don't convince you, let the majesty and mystery of Unique's fabulousness be enough!" Unique chuckles and walk closer to Marley. "I mean it. Glee Club's a special place. I mean, where else could I dress like this and be welcomed with open arms?" Unique says to Marley.

"Okay, one last thing. I don't think I'm comfortable sitting with that cheerleader and those guys at lunch." Marley says to us.

"That won't be a problem." Kitty, Bobby and Phill suddenly come to us. "We could handle Gimpy and the Tarantula Head and Richie Poor, because you guys were national champs like us, but our invitation was not extended to pre-op Precious based on the novel Barf by Sapphire and Mike and Molly's daughter as part of our crew." Kitty says to us.

"Well, I guess we're not in your crew anymore." Blaine says to her.

"You know, I was kind of hoping you'd say that." Kitty grins at us until they slushied Marley and Unique with red slushie.

"And with that, order is restored." Phill laughs and they walk away from us.

"Well, looks like you guys have been officially welcomed to the Glee Club." Artie says to them.

"Unique's eyes they are on fire!" Unique says.

"Let's get you guys cleaned up and go to rehearsal." Blaine says to them.

"I though there will be no more slushie in senior year." I simply said.

"You were wrong." Tina simply said and bring Marley and Unique back to the choir room to clean them up.

I cross my hands on my chest and just walking following them. First week of senior year is kinda crazy but fun. At least I didnt get any slushie at my first week here.
