Mary Red is the daughter of the chief of The Last - the only remaining humans on Earth. On her 19th birthday, she's appointed to lead a group of the strongest out into the World to find more resources. Only she knows this is no gift - this is a punishment, for no one has ever left to village of the Last and come back alive. But Mary has no choice; the survival of The Last depends on her leadership.
