The mysterious figure’s appearance left Evelyn unsettled. Who could that be , and what did they want?
Sebastian’s reassuring presence calmed her nerves. “We’ll investigate.”
Days passed, with no sign of the stranger. Evelyn began to relax, and do what she knows how to do best taking pictures of nature. “It probably in my imagination” she thought.
But then, strange occurrences started happening around the pack’s den. Equipment started going missing and strange noises began to echo through the night.
“I’m beginning to become worried”, Evelyn said.
You don’t need to be, I’ll increase patrols.
One night, Evelyn woke to find a not on her pillow:
You don’t belong here and you will never be safe here.
Fear griping every part of her body, woke Sebastian up showing him the note.
Sebastian’s alpha senses went on high alert. Someone was obviously trying to threaten his mate.
“I’ll get to the bottom of this,” he vowed.
He assigned guards to watch Evelyn, but the unease lingered.
In the shadows, the mysterious figure watched, a sinister smile spreading.
“The plan unfolds, the figure whispered.
Ava, a skilled werewolf hunter, arrived at the pack’s den is revealed to be werewolf herself.
Her past experiences had driven her to hunt rogue werewolves.“I’ve been tracking a rogue werewolf,” Ava said. “One with a vendetta against your pack.”
“And what makes you think it’s connected to our threat?” asked Sebastian.
Ava’s gaze locked onto Sebastian’s. I have a reason to believe the rogue is working with someone inside your pack.
Evelyn’s eyes widened. “A traitor?” she whispered.
Sebastian’s mind raced with possibilities. A traitor in his pack?“Who do you suspect?” Sebastian asked Ava.
Ava hesitated. I need to review your pack’s dynamics and I have few questions for them.
Ava gazed at Sebastian. Tell me about Victor’s followers.Well they more loyal to him than me, but I thought they were disbanded after Victor’s defeat, he said
Ava’s eyes narrowed. What if they didn’t?
“Evelyn interrupted”. What about the note?It could be connected in some way.
Ava gazed at Evelyn. You’re the key to this, whoever that is threatening you has the intent to destabilize the pack.
“Why?” Evelyn asked.
Ava’s expression turned to a grim. Because you’re Sebastian’s mate which makes you a target.
Suddenly, a pack member burst in. “Alpha, we’ve found something!” exclaimed the pack member.
Sebastian’s senses went on high alert, what could that be?
“A hidden journal, belonging to Victor”, the pack member said.
Sebastian’s hand clenched as he took the journal. Victor’s secrets were finally within reach.
As Sebastian flipped through the pages, a name caught his eye.
“Elijah.”
Sebastian’s expression darkened.
“Elijah?” Ava repeated.
Sebastian gazed at Ava. Victor’s right- hand man, I thought he had left the pack after victor’s defeat.
Ava’s eyes narrowed. Looks like we have our traitor, she said.
“So that means Elijah has been the one behind the events happening for past few days” Sebastian said.
“Ava nodded.”
And using the rest of Victor’s to spread chaos.
“Find Elijah now” Sebastian growled.
The pack mobilized, searching for Elijah. Sebastian, Ava and Evelyn led the hunt.
As they tracked down Elijah through the forest, Sebastian’s senses heightened.
Suddenly, Elijah emerged from the shadows. You’ll never take me alive, he sneered.
Sebastian’s growl deepened. You’re finished, he said.
Elijah shifted to a full blown wolf likewise Sebastian and began battle.
The fight raged on, Sebastian and Elijah clashing in a flurry of fur and fangs, Ava joined the fray, her skills honed from years of hunting.
Sebastian was having the upper hand. Elijah stumbled back, his eyes flashing with desperation.
Ava pinned Elijah to the ground. It’s over she said.
Elijah gazed at Sebastian. You’ll never keep her safe, there are more that will come after her, He spat.
Sebastian’s growl deepened. Well I’ll die trying, he said.
As Sebastian was about to end Elijah. Ava stepped in, “let him live he can be useful to us he obviously not working alone” she said.
Sebastian thought for a while before finally retreating.
Evelyn rushed to Sebastian, her heart still racing. Are you okay? She asked.
Sebastian’s expression softened. I’m fine and you’re safe now, he said.
Evelyn’s eyes welled with tears. I was so scared, she admitted.
Sebastian’s arms enveloped her. You don’t need to be, he said. You’re mine to protect, he whispered.
As Ava walked away, Evelyn noticed a strange look on her face.‘’I think Ava’s is hiding something we should keep a close eye, we can’t go around trust anyone now.” Evelyn said.“
You’re right, I’ll keep a close eye on her” Sebastian said.
Back in the pack’s den Sebastian approached Ava. His alpha instinct was high but couldn’t place what was wrong actually.
What’s going on? He asked.Ava’s gaze looked onto Sebastian’s .How do you mean, nothing is going on. I have a led on the mastermind but I need to investigate alone.
Sebastian expression hardened. And why is that? He inquired.
I don’t trust easily, I have my eyes on you.Ava’s eyes narrowed.
“You’re kidding right? I’m putting my life at risk to help” she retorted.
Sebastian’s jaw clenched. “Fine but keep me updated.”
Ava nodded and disappeared into the night.
Evelyn watched Ava leave, her uneasiness only continued to grow.“What, if Ava is working against us?” Evelyn asked.
Sebastian’s expression softened.
But Evelyn’s doubts continued to linger.
While outside, Evelyn spotted a figure watching from the shadows. Sebastian look! She whispered.
“Get behind me,” Sebastian growled.
The figure stepped forward revealing none other than Sebastian’s sister Lila.
Sebastian’s expression hardened. Lila, what are you doing here? He asked.
Lila’s eyes flashed with defiance. Can’t I come see my brother and plus I have been watching you and I certainly do not agree with your choices.
“Brother” Evelyn repeated, you never told me you had a sister, she said.
“Well there is a lot you don’t know” Lila said “and plus you don’t belong here” growling at Evelyn.
“Enough” Sebastian shouted, I don’t need anybody’s options before doing anything certainly not yours. I’m your alpha remember.
“Indeed what a great alpha you’re calming a human as your mate and watching our pack’s downfall” Lila said almost mockingly.
Sebastian’s growl deepened. That’s not true, he said.
Lila’s smile twisted.Wait and see, she said before disappearing into the night.
“What does Lila mean?” Evelyn asked with concern filling her eyes.
Sebastian’s expression darkened. I don’t know, but I’ll find out.”
The night air seemed to thicken with foreboding.
“Sebastian, I’m scared,” Evelyn admitted.
Sebastian’s arms enveloped her. I’ll always protect no matter what. He whispered into her ears and giving a light peak on the cheeks.
But Evelyn’s fears lingered.“Was Lila working with Ava’s mysterious mastermind? She thought to herself.
As Sebastian and Evelyn returned to his chambers, tensions ran high.
Lila’s sudden appearance and cryptic words left everyone uneasy.
Evelyn couldn’t shake off the feeling that Lila’s warning was more than just a threat.“Sebastian, what if Lila is telling the truth?” Evelyn asked, that I’m the cause of everything happening, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sebastian’s expression hardened. Don’t say that, and my sister can never betray me or the pack not without a reason.”
But Evelyn noticed the faintest glimmer of doubt in Sebastian’s eyes.
“Ava’s investigation might uncover something,” Evelyn said.
Sebastian nodded. I’ll talk to Ava tomorrow, he said.
That night, Evelyn’s dreams were filled with ominous visions:Lila’s warning, Ava’s secrets, and an unknown danger lurking in the shadows.
The next morning, Evelyn woke with a sense of foreboding.
Sebastian I had a bad dream, she said softly.
Sebastian’s expression softened. I’m here, we’ll face whatever comes next together. He said gazing into her eyes.
