Evelyn stood beneath the oak tree, her heart racing with anticipation. The moon cast eerie shadows on the ground, making her feel like she was walking into a nightmare.
She had tried to convince herself to stay home, to forget the whole thing, but something about the mysterious voice and photo drew her in.
As she checked her watched for the tenth time, Evelyn wondered whether she made a big mistake by coming.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness.
Evelyn’s breath caught in her throat. The man was tall, with piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through her.
“Who are you?” or “rather what are you” Evelyn demanded, trying to hide her fear.
The man smiled, his features chiseled in the moonlight.
“My name is Sebastian,” he said, his voice low and husky.
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat, this was the werewolf from the forest earlier on.
“What do you want from me?” Evelyn asked her voice barely above a whisper.
Sebastian’s eyes locked onto hers, “I want the photo,” he said his voice firm.
Evelyn hesitated, unsure what to do.
“I won’t hurt you,” Sebastian promised, his voice softening.
Evelyn’s eyes narrowed. “And why should I trust you?” she asked.
Sebastian’s gaze onto hers. “Because I’m the only person that can protect you” he said.
Evelyn’s expression faltered, and for a moment, Sebastian saw a glimmer of vulnerability.
“Safe from what?” Evelyn asked.
Sebastian’s jaw clenched. “From those who would want to harm you because of the photo you took.”
Evelyn’s eyes widened. “What do you mean?” she asked.
Sebastian’s gaze drifted into the darkness. There are those who would stop at nothing to keep our secret hidden.”
Evelyn face paled.
“What secret?” she whispered.
Sebastian’s eyes locked onto hers, our existence.”
Evelyn’s mind reeled as Sebastian’s words hung in the air. Our existence? What did he mean?
“Explain,” Evelyn demanded her voice firm.
Sebastian’s gaze drifted into the darkness as if he was searching for something.
“We’re not human,” he said finally.
Evelyn in shock “if you’re not human” then “what are you?” she whispered.
“I’m a werewolf,” said Sebastian his voice above a whisper.
Evelyn’s world tilted, she had always thought werewolves were just myths and legends.
“But…. how?” Evelyn stuttered.
Sebastian’s expression softened. “It’s complicated,” he said “but I need that photo.”
Evelyn hesitated, unsure what to do.
Sebastian watched Evelyn’s emotions unfold, his heart aching with empathy. He knew this was a lot to take in.
“Please, Evelyn,” Sebastian said, his voice gentle. “Give me the photo.”
Evelyn’s gaze faltered, and Sebastian saw a glimmer of trust.
“Okay,” Evelyn said finally.
Sebastian’s relief was palpable.
“But you have to promise me something,” Evelyn added.
“Anything,” Sebastian said.
“Tell me the truth,” Evelyn said. “About everything.
”Sebastian was shocked.
“I promise”, he finally said.
As Evelyn handed over her camera, Sebastian’s fingers brushed against hers. A spark of electricity ran through his body.
Evelyn’s eyes widened, as if she felt it too.
“Let get out of here.” Sebastian said, his voice low.
Evelyn nodded, and together they walked into the darkness.
As they walked, Evelyn couldn’t shake off the feeling that her life was about to change forever.
“Where are we going?” Evelyn asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sebastian glanced at her, his eyes gleaming in the moonlight. “Somewhere safe”, he said.
Evelyn nodded, unsure what to expect.
They walked in silence for what felt like hours, the only sound being the rusting of leaves beneath their feet.
Finally, Sebastian stopped in front of a secluded cabin, nested deep in the woods.
“Welcome to my home,” Sebastian said, his voice low.
Evelyn’s eyes widened as she stepped inside. The cabin was cozy with a fireplace cracking in the corner.
Sebastian gestured for her to sit and Evelyn sank into the plush couch.
“Tell me everything, “Evelyn said, her voice firm.
Sebastian’s expression softened. “Where do I start from?” he asked.
Evelyn’s eyes locked onto his, “from the beginning.”
Sebastian took a deep breath, unsure where to begin.
“I was born into the shadow fang clan pack,” Sebastian said, “a family of werewolves.”
Evelyn’s eyes widened in shock, “a pack?” she repeated.“
Sebastian nodded.”
“We live in secret, hiding our true nature from humans.”
Evelyn’s expression faltered.
“But why?” she asked.
Sebastian’s jaw clenched, “because humans have hunted us for centuries”, he said. “They fear what don’t understand.”
Evelyn’s face paled. “I’m sorry,” she whispered.
Sebastian’s gaze locked onto hers.“I’m not looking for sympathy,” he said, “I just want to protect my kind.”
Evelyn nodded, understanding.
“And the photo?” she asked.
Sebastian’s expression hardened.
“That photo could expose us all.”
Evelyn held his hands, “I won’t that happen,” she promised.
Sebastian’s gaze softened. “I don’t why but I trust you”, he said.
As Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat, Sebastian’s face leaned in, his lips inches from hers.
Sebastian’s lips hovered above Evelyn’s, his heart racing with anticipation. He had never felt this way about anyone before.
But just as he was about to kiss her, Evelyn’s eyes flashed with uncertainty.
“Wait,” Evelyn said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sebastian’s face paused, inches from hers. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
Evelyn’s gaze drifted to his. “I don’t think I’m ready for all this,” she said.
Sebastian’s expression softened. “I won’t pressure you,” he said.
Evelyn nodded, her eyes still locked on his. “But I need to know something,” she said.
“Anything,” Sebastian replied.
Evelyn’s voice dropped too whisper.
“What happens if someone finds out about you? About your kind?”
Sebastian’s jaw clenched, “they’ll hunt us, and try to eliminate us” he replied.
Evelyn’s faced paled, “and what about me?” she asked.
Sebastian’s gaze locked onto hers, “You’ll be in danger too,” “but I will protect you, he said.
Evelyn’s eyes searched his. “Why?” she asked.
Sebastian’s heart skipped a beat. “Because I care about you.”
Evelyn’s expression faltered, and for a moment, Sebastian saw a glimmer of hope.
“Evelyn,” Sebastian whispered.
But before he could continue, a loud knock echoed through the cabin.
Sebastian’s head snapped towards the door.
“Who could that be?” Evelyn asked in a whisper.
Sebastian’s expression hardened.“I’ll take care of it.”
Sebastian approached the door, his senses on high alert. He peered through the peephole and cursed under his breath.
“What is it?” Evelyn whispered.
“I t’s Victor.”
Evelyn’s eyes widened.“Who is Victor?” she asked.
Sebastian’s jaw clenched.“A member of my pack”, “who never misses an opportunity to challenge my position as alpha” he replied.
“What is he doing here” Evelyn asked.
Sebastian opened the door, and Victor’s menacing gaze locked onto Evelyn.
“Sebastian we need to talk,” Victor growled.
“What is it, Victor?” Sebastian asked.
Victor’s eyes narrowed.“You’re getting too close to her,” Victor spat. She’s a liability."
Sebastian’s eyes flashed with anger. “You have no right to interfere,” Sebastian snarled.
Victor sneered. “The pack has every right,” “she knows too much” he said.
Evelyn stepped forward, her voice firm. “I won’t tell anyone,” she said.
Victor’s gaze locked onto hers. “We can’t trust you, you’re human” and “humans are all the same always trying to hunt us down and eliminate us.” Victor sneered.
Sebastian’s anger boiled over.“Enough”, Sebastian growled.
With a swift movement, Sebastian pushed Victor out of the cabin and slammed the door shut.
Evelyn’s stood there in shock to what just happened.“What just happened?” she managed to ask.
Sebastian’s expression softened. “My pack doesn’t understand,” “but like I said earlier I will protect you” he assured.
Evelyn’s gaze locked onto his, “I trust you”, she said.
Sebastian’s heart swelled with emotions, “i won’t let anyone hurt you,” he promised.
As Sebastian’s lips brushed against Evelyn’s, the tension between them ignited.
