Chapter 3

*Klaus’s POV*

After leaving Aria's I got into my car and went for a drive. I don’t know what Aria is doing to me. I’m supposed to be the bad boy that plays girls. I don’t do relationships. Aria's smile is everything that takes from me. Why do I have to be in this? When I'm near her I become soft. Why me?, this is just too much. I wanna take her out, I do. It’s that my reputation and I really do like her. The way her hair flows, the way she smiles but she smirks those darn dimples, and the way she talks. She is one of a kind. Another thing, she is not afraid to show her vulnerability. If I take time to myself for now, maybe I can think about it more. I parked and took out my phone.

Klaus: Aria, I want to cancel the plans tomorrow. I’m not up for it anymore.

Aria: Has something came up?

Klaus: No, I just don’t want to go out no more.

Aria: Okay.

I canceled the plans and now I don’t have to ruin my bad boy reputation. That was simple.

I got home and went to bed, I got to go to school tomorrow.

I got to school on time, Axel and Conner told me to meet them at Aria’s locker. It was weird, why at her locker?. I mean I do think Axel and Conner have a crush on Mia and Jade. I don’t blame them, have you seen them. 

I arrived at Aria’s locker. Mia, Jade, Axel, and Conner were. Why are we at Aria’s locker if she isn’t here?, that’s stupid. “Sup, why are we here?”, I said with a bit of a chuckle. “We were waiting for Aria but she isn’t here yet, that’s pretty weird. She is always here.”, Jade said. The bell rang and they went to their classes. I didn’t seem to care because she is the ‘bad girl’. Maybe she wanted to change. 

After my class ended I was on my way till I saw Aria. She had a mark on her cheek and her eyes were puffy. She just probably street fights. I mean who knows. She tried to hide, but I don’t think it helped. 

*Aria’s POV*

I knew I shouldn’t have agreed to the movies and of course I had to be vulnerable. My heart was feeling like it’s heavy and my mind wouldn’t stop rambling. Next thing I knew I was tearing. This is what happened when I let someone in. 

I woke up to the yelling. I walked down stairs and saw my mother yelling at Nick. “You’re annoying, you were an accident. Your dad is gone because of you. He left me because of you and your sister. You know that”, she said while she grabbed his hair and pulled it back to see his face. “ENOUGH”, I yelled. She was now looking at me. “Stop saying that, he left because of you. Look you're abusing us, and you're not drunk or doing drugs. That’s worse because you know what you're doing.”, I said. She finally let go of Nick and went straight to me. She grabbed my hair and pulled my head back. “You think you can talk to me like that, I’m your mother. I was beyond angry. “Then why don’t you act like one”, I said with venom. She forced my head to the ground, leaving a mark on my cheek. “You’re a piece of s**t, you know. You don’t deserve to be my daughter.”, she said while she kicked me while I was on the ground. She went to her room. Next thing you know My side and seek was aching. We were also late to school. “You okay Nick”, I managed to say while grunting. “Yeah, are you?. You look bad”, he said, handing me ice for my cheek. “Yeah let's go to school, it’s better than staying here”, I said getting up. “s**t”, I said holding my side. It f*****g hunted but it was manageable. 

Nick and I arrived at school, we were late for class late. I was going to hear s**t from my mother. Even though it was her fault. She does this, blame us for her actions. I went to my locker, I saw Klaus and I tried to avoid him. He is the least person I want to see right now. Jade and Mia went to my locker before class started. 

“Hey Aria, why did you miss-“, Mia stopped when she saw my face. “She did it again”, Jade spat. “Yeah, not only my face she pulled Nick and I hair and kicked my side.”, I said while grabbing my books. “How bad does it hurt”, Jade asked. “It’s manageable.”, I said closing my locker. Let's get to class. 

It was lunch time. I sat at our table, so did Axel and Conner. Of course Klaus didn’t come. I didn’t expect him either. I grabbed my lunch and sat down. When I looked up I saw Klaus flirting again. I felt a sting in my chest. How is he supposed to be serious with me but just do that, it’s whatever. I was just messing with my food and finally pushed it aside. I didn’t feel like eating. “Aria you have to eat, it isn’t healthy”, Mia sounded worried. “Yeah, come on Aria. You have to eat, I don’t want you to go down this road again”, Jade sounded worried as well. “I’m not hungry”, they looked at me and nodded. Another complication added when Klaus came and sat by me. He put his hand on my side. I winced. “You okay”, he said. “Yeah”, I said, not looking at him. Why is he pretending to care? I don’t need his pity. “What happened”, he asked. “I fell”, I looked up to Mia and Jade, they nodded. They understood why I said that. “Why aren’t you eating”, he asked. “I’m not hungry, anymore questions'', I said while he shook his head. I got up and left. 

I’m tired of this. I took out my phone.

Aria: Hey Nick, I'm leaving for a period. Let me know if you need anything.

Nick: Why are you leaving?

Aria: I need to clear my head. I need to think things through before we go back home to face mom.

Nick: Okay, are you coming back to pick me up?

Aria: Yeah, Of course. I’ll be back. 

Nick: Can I go stay at Luke’s for a bit?

Aria: Yeah, just meet back at the school when you’re done.

Nick: Okay. He lives close to the school too. 

I put my phone away. I was skipping a class because I didn’t care, I was already going to get in trouble. I left and went to a liquor store. I did this last time. I had a flask which is good. I told a stranger to get me bourbon and handed them cash. They came out later with the bourbon and gave it to me. They gave me a brown bag too. Perfect. I popped off the cap and took a swoosh. I whipped my mouth with the sleeve of my jacket. I poured some in my flask. I put the flask in my pocket and kept drinking the bourbon. I made my way to a fast food joint. I ordered a burger and fries. 

When I got done, I made my way back to school. I missed like most of the class but it was still going. I walked it and went to my locker. The bell rang and that’s when I saw Mia and Jade. “Aria, we're did you go?”, she was a bit angry. “Out, I got bored.”, I said. “Did you drink, I can smell it. Aria why are you doing this again.”, Jade sounded mad. “My f*****g mom and I can’t do anything about it. I have to be the bigger person all the f*****g time but there is nothing in it for me but getting abused and yelled at. Another thing is I hate being vulnerable. I get hurt physically and mentally. Okay?” I yelled. “Aria we're sorry but you have to stop drinking”, Mia sounded worried now. “Want some'', I smiled. “Aria stop”, Jade said. I took my flask out and drank some. Of course Mia f*****g snatched it. “Dude what the f**k”, I was angry. “You had enough”, Mia said. “Where’s the rest?”, Jade asked angrily. “In my bag”, I rolled my eyes. Klaus, Axel and Conner came to see us. “Aria come to my place”, Mia said. “Why”, I asked. “You’re a mess, I don’t want you to go down that road again”, Mia was worried. “I’ll come too”, Jade said. “What’s happening”, Klaus asked. “She’s going down this roa-“, Jade said but I cut her off. “Nothing, I’ll come. I’ll meet you at the car.”, I said walking off. I took my bottle out and drank some more. 

“ARIA”, Klaus yelled. I turned around and he was already behind me. “What’s going on”, he asked. “Nothing”, I walked away but he grabbed my arm. “Obviously it’s not nothing, you're drinking”, he said. “Why should you care. You have no right to care since what you did last night”, I yelled. “It was a mistake, I didn’t want to ruin my reputation. I can’t”, he said. “Yeah, see that’s the problem. It’s your reputation. That’s all you care about. You said you like me, and you're still flirting with other girls. Not to forget you also canceled our plans. I was actually looking forward to it. The only time something was going good till it stopped.”, I said walking away to Mia’s car. I saw Mia and Jade behind Klaus with Axel and Conner. I knew they heard everything. So I took another swoosh again. I was feeling dizzy. 

We arrived at Mia’s house. She took me into her bedroom and Jade bought some food. I didn’t eat because I was not up for eating. “Aria come on eat”, Jade said. “I’m good”, I said. “About what you said, is it about Klaus or your mom”, Mia asked. I looked at her like I couldn’t believe what was coming out of her mouth. Really over a boy. “You're serious,'' I said with no feeling. They seem to be quiet because when I said that, well Mia looked like she regretted it. “I wouldn’t be this over a boy maybe a tiny bit because of what he did, but mostly it’s because of my mother.”, I said with no emotions. I grabbed my flask and went back to the liquor store. 

I got 2 more bottles of bourbon and put them in my bag. Later I saw Klaus. He saw me. I mean I did have an almost empty bottle of bourbon in my hand. He came over. 

“Hey”, he said. “What”, I replied. I drank the rest of it. I opened up a water bottle and he sat beside me. “I’m sorry”, he said. “It’s whatever, it’s done anyways”, I said with no emotions. “You don’t mean that”, he said. “I do, what are you doing here anyways”, I said. “Well I was going to drink my sorrows”, he said. “Cool”, I got up and started walking but he caught up with me. “I’m sorry okay, I really am. I shouldn’t have done that.”, he sounded worried. “Okay”, I said. “Give me another chance please, I don’t care about my reputation any more, I saw Axel and Conner with Mia and Jade. I want us to be like that. I don’t want anyone else. I won’t let it happen”, he said. I turned around and looked at him. I did the unexpected. I kissed him. I pulled away, “It was a mistake”, I ran to the school. When I said that he was frozen. Did I do it for payback or was it an actual mistake? I got a text from Nick and he was already at the school. 

I got to school and walked back home.
