Chapter four

SHAWN'S P.O.V  I was nervous. I arrived at the bar thirty minutes prior to the time I had asked Abigail to meet me. I wanted to have a couple drinks to calm my nerves. No other woman had ever made me this nervous not even Nicole. Maybe it was because she was my student and it was forbidden. I sat at the bar sipping on my crown and coke while watching a college football game.  I felt a hand slap my shoulder and smelled the strong scent of old spice; I turned to see my best friend. "Hey Shawn! Where's Abby?" Jason asked.  "I came a little early. She hasn't made it yet." I replied. I notice a woman next to Jason, his flavor of the week no doubt. She had ash blonde hair in a pixie cut and dark blue eyes. Her face was heavily coated in make up and the dress she wore left little to the imagination. Jason always was a sucker for the wild type. Me, I liked a good girl... well not too good any way.  "Your nerves getting the better of you?" He smirked.  I opened my mouth to say something but my phone began to vibrate. The caller ID stated it was my father. I rolled my eyes and pocketed it; I was not gonna have the same conversation twice in one day.  "Yeah I guess they are." I said nonchalantly.  Jason and I spoke for a few more minutes until he took his date to another part of the bar.  *** ABBY'S P.O.V "Oh my god you have a date with Mr. s*x God?!" Lucy gushed.  She was obviously over the moon about this and couldn't wait to get any detail of what may transpire tonight. The horndog ha  "It's not a date." I laughed, "He just invited me for drinks." Though I wished it were, but he could not have possibly been interested in me. There wasn't anything special about me.  "It's just you and him going." Lucy winked, "Trust me it's a date. Now lets get you ready." She spread out her make up across the vanity; Lucy pulled my hair back and styled it in a French braid.  Next she started on my makeup; first some foundation, peach colored blush, and some mascara. I applied some red lipstick to my lips. Lucy wanted to do so much more but I don't really care for copious amounts of make up. For my ensemble I wore a white off the shoulders plain pleated shirt with flared long sleeves; it hugged the curves of my bust while loosely fitting my torso and a slipped on a pair of stretchy dark blue jean capris. I topped off the look with a pair of black strappy 2 inch high heels.  "Girl you look gorgeous! Lucy squealed, "Now go get your man!"  I looked at her and shook my head. I grabbed my black Michael Kors clutch making sure I had my phone and some cash before I headed out.  *** ABBY P.O.V I arrived at the bar and spot Shawn talking to the bartender. My eyes wander from his dirty blonde hair down his body studying his attire. He stood  with his body facing slightly away from the bar so I was able to see the red DC shoes logo on the front of the black t-shirt; his pants were a pair of relaxed fit light blue Tommy Hilfiger jeans with a pair of black DC skate shoes. The man has style... I will give him that. "Abigail! You made it!" He shouted as he turned to face me. Oops I had done it again; I stared at him for far too long losing all sense of the time. He looked back at me with a smirk on his plump lips. "Hi Shawn!" I looked at the bartender, who looked highly amused at the situation, and ordered a corona. No liquor for me tonight; no way was I going to allow myself into a situation where I could possibly embarrass myself further.  He got his drink as well and we found a table to sit at. Shawn appeared to be deep in thought maybe thinking of what to say. I personally thought his serious, but confused look was absolutely adorable. "So Abigail, you mind telling me a little bit about yourself?" Shawn grimaced at his cliché conversation starter. "There's really not much to tell." I began, "I came here from El Paso, I'm studying to be a psychologist, and I used to rope and barrel race." I really missed my horses and did not really want to leave them behind, but I did not have a choice.  His face held surprise at my last admission. "Wow. A genuine cowgirl. Paint me impressed. I bet your parents are very proud of you." My smile faltered slightly. "Well my mom is, my dad died in a bull riding event when he was thrown and trampled when I was 15." I could barely get it out with getting choked up. I missed my dad so much; he was the one who got me into roping and barrel racing. He had been taking me to the rodeos since I was a baby, it was a very big part of our life. The day he died was the worst day of my life; I had seen the whole thing.  "That's awful." He frowned, "I'm so sorry." "Now its your turn." I smiled, waving off his guilt, " I wanna know about the mysterious man before me." He smirked. "I was born and raised here in Houston, when I am not teaching I am in my shop restoring old cars and I have a Maine Coon named Merlin." Shawn flashed me his dazzling white teeth in a huge grin. "Would you like to play pool?" I glanced at my hands in my lap, hiding the pink hue on my cheeks. "I'd love to." We find an empty pool table; I rack the balls up and Shawn breaks them. He gets stripes and I get solids. The first game was quite close, but Shawn still managed to beat me, I won the second game, but barely. Shawn won the next two games.  After the third game we decided to order some pizza from the bar's kitchen while we sat and at we got to talk to each other some more. The more I knew about him the more I liked him and his smile made me weak in the knees. He was charming, funny, and very intelligent; I was starting to wonder why he had asked me to have drinks with him. Was this a date or a way to apologize for snapping at me earlier today? "Shawn can I ask you a question?" *** SHAWN'S P.O.V "Shawn can I ask you a question?" Abigail queried. She nervously bit her bottom lip, which made me want to capture her pouty lips with my own.  "Of course Abigail." I stated, "Ask me anything." She hesitated momentarily and looked at the beer in front of her before returning her gaze to me. "Why did you ask me to have drinks with you? Are you trying to make it up to me for earlier or is this a date?" She said that last part in a whisper, but I had still heard it.  Was it a date? I hadn't really took the time to think of that when I had asked her. Getting to know her had been the reason for asking her to have drinks with me; that and spending time with her. That's kind of the definition of a date genius. The longer I thought about it the more I realized that it was a date. But I was kind of nervous about confirming it. What if she had not wanted it to be a date and that she was only being nice because I was her teacher. "Do you want it to be a date?" I gave her a smile that hopefully made answering the question a little less awkward for her.  Abigail smiled back at me briefly and looked down attempting to hide blush creeping up on her face. After a moment she looked back at me. "I really do." I couldn't stop the grin from forming on my face when she said this. "Well then its a date baby girl." "Aren't you concerned about getting in trouble?" She asked.  "While it is against the universities rules I am not overly concerned about it." I began, "I would like to get to know you. There is just something about you that makes it hard to ignore you." "I don't want you to risk your job though." She sighed. Her worried expression was adorable and I was touched that she would care so much. "Well we will just have to be careful then won't we? I have learned in life that some times risks are necessary in order to find happiness."  "I guess you're right." She said, "We are two consenting adults after all." We spent a little more time talking; we finished the pizza and the beer that we had ordered with it. We exchanged numbers so we could keep in contact. I walked her to her car and opened her door for her. She turned to me before she sat down and looked into my eyes for what seemed like forever only for her eyes to briefly flicker to my lips before returning to my eyes. This was all the incentive I needed; I leaned forward, cupping her face in my hands and brushed my lips against hers, she leaned into the kiss; my tongue darted out and swiped against her bottom lip asking for entrance her lips parted and my tongue plunged into her mouth to dance with hers. She whimpered as I sucked on her bottom lip before I pulled away.  We were both a little out of breath and flustered. "I had fun tonight Shawn." "Me too baby girl." I grinned, "Text me when you get home so I know you made it safely." She nodded and got into her car before driving away.  *** I got home and collapsed in my bed after undressing. My phone buzzed alerting me to a text and I smiled.  Abigail: I made it to the dorm with out a scratch :)  Me: Good:) Try to get some rest. Abigail:  I'll try but my room mate snores :/ lol..... Me: :/ well then I suggest you invest in some earplugs then lol good night baby girl  Abigail: Goodnight Shawn :)
