Ava entered the throne room, where the King, Queen, Prince Ryder, and his father, King Malcolm, were waiting for her. Prince Ryder's face was already twisted in anger, and his eyes narrowed as he saw Ava's calm demeanor.
"Ah, finally, Princess Ava has deigned to join us," Prince Ryder sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. "We were beginning to think that you're too busy playing commoner to bother with your royal duties."
Ava's eyes flashed with annoyance, but she kept her composure. "I apologize for the delay, Prince Ryder. I was attending to a matter of importance."
King Malcolm, Prince Ryder's father, raised an eyebrow. "A matter of importance? I'm sure it couldn't have been more important than meeting your future husband."
Prince Ryder's anger boiled over, and he took a step forward. "Yes, Princess Ava seems to think she's above all this, that she can just keep us waiting and then stroll in here like she owns the place. It's clear she has no respect for our royal family."
The King, Ava's father, frowned, his expression growing stern. "Prince Ryder, that's enough. My daughter is a princess of this kingdom, and she will be treated with the respect due to her station."
But Prince Ryder wouldn't be silenced. "Respect? You call this respect? Keeping us waiting, disrespecting our royal family...this is just another example of the lack of discipline and decorum in your kingdom."
King Malcolm nodded in agreement, his face stern. "Yes, Prince Ryder is right. This behavior is unacceptable."
Ava's father stood up, his face reddening with anger. "How dare you, Prince Ryder! You come into our kingdom, demanding respect, and yet you show none yourself. I begin to think that my daughter's concerns about your temper were well-founded."
The tension in the room escalated, with both kings arguing and Prince Ryder's anger becoming more and more apparent. The Queen tried to intervene, but it was too late. The damage was done.
"I think it's clear that this marriage is not going to work," Ava's father said finally, his voice firm. "We will not have our daughter treated like this, and we will not stand for the disrespect shown to our kingdom."
King Malcolm's face darkened, and he stood up, his voice rising. "You would dare to call off the marriage? After all the agreements we've made?"
Ava's father was resolute. "I think we've heard enough. The marriage is off. We will not risk our daughter's happiness and safety on a union with a man who cannot control his temper."
The room erupted into chaos, with both sides arguing and shouting. Ava stood quietly, her eyes fixed on Prince Ryder's angry face. She knew that she had dodged a bullet, but she also knew that the consequences of this confrontation would be far-reaching.
The argument continued to escalate, with both King Malcolm and Ava's father refusing to back down. Prince Ryder's anger had sparked a firestorm, and it seemed unlikely that the situation could be salvaged.
As the shouting match reached its peak, Ava's mother, the Queen, stepped forward, her voice calm and authoritative. "Enough!" she said, her words cutting through the tension. "This is not the way to resolve our differences. Perhaps we should take a moment to reflect on what's best for both our kingdoms."
The room fell silent, with all eyes on the Queen. Ava's father took a deep breath, his anger slowly dissipating. King Malcolm, however, seemed less willing to let go of his indignation.
"I agree with the Queen," Ava's father said finally. "We should take some time to reconsider the terms of the alliance. Perhaps there's another way to strengthen our bond without resorting to marriage."
King Malcolm scowled, but he nodded curtly. "Very well. We'll withdraw Prince Ryder and reconsider our options. But mark my words, King: this is not the end of this matter."
With that, King Malcolm turned and strode out of the throne room, Prince Ryder following closely behind. Ava watched them go, feeling a mix of relief and trepidation. She knew that this was just the beginning of a complex and potentially treacherous diplomatic dance.
As the door closed behind King Malcolm and Prince Ryder, Ava's father turned to her and said, "Ava, I think it's clear that this marriage is not meant to be. I'm sorry I was so caught up in the potential benefits of the alliance that I forgot the most important-your happiness. Can you ever forgive me for not listening to you earlier. But I'm glad that we were able to see Prince Ryder's true nature before it was too late."
Ava nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Thank you, Father. I'm glad that you believe me now. I was worried that you wouldn't take my concerns seriously."
Her father smiled and put a hand on her shoulder. "I always want what's best for you, Ava. And if that means calling off the marriage, then so be it. We'll find another way to strengthen our alliance with King Malcolm's kingdom."
The Queen stepped forward and hugged Ava tightly. "We're just glad that you're safe, Ava. We'll figure out the rest together."
As the tension in the room dissipated, Ava felt a sense of hope rising up within her. Maybe this was an opportunity for her to take control of her own destiny, to forge her own path in life. She smiled at her parents, feeling grateful for their love and support.
With a newfound sense of understanding and forgiveness, Ava decided to visit Liam in custody. She wanted to share the news with him and discuss their future together. As she made her way to the cells, she felt a sense of hope and excitement. She knew that she and Liam still had a long way to go, but she was determined to fight for their love.
When she arrived at the cells, Liam looked up at her with a questioning gaze. "Ava, what's wrong? You look like you have news to share."
Ava smiled and took a deep breath. "The marriage is off. Prince Ryder's temper was too much for my father to ignore. And...I think things might be looking up for us now."
Liam's face lit up with a warm smile, and Ava's heart skipped a beat as she saw the hope in his eyes. "Really?" he asked, his voice filled with excitement.
Ava nodded, feeling a sense of joy and anticipation. "Yes, really. Let's talk about what this means for us, and how we can move forward."
