Adam had not realised how late it was until he noticed the number on his dashboard clock. “Oh hell.” He sighed, wondering how the time could have gone so fast and if Lily was okay. He closed the car door behind him and swung his bag onto the passenger seat. It had been one of those days when he had barely had a chance to breathe. Meetings had gone around in circles, and problems passed from pillar to post. His head ached, and all he wanted was to go home for a shower and get some sleep ready for a new day tomorrow.
