"Abby does deserve full candor," Kawaii agrees, after some moments of reflection, looking not at Pari but at the plants, vines, and flowers surrounding them in the courtyard.
Wrenching an arm around his stomach and using his other arm to cover his face, Kawaii turns away from her. His composure melts, and he stumbles into the manor so Pari does not see him weep. He returns a few minutes later with swollen eyes. Pari offers to leave so he can be alone, but Kawaii asks her to stay. She finds some of Isabelle's canned iced coffee drinks in the refrigerator and brings them to the courtyard for herself and Kawaii.
