Chapter 33
While Campbell Vaughn drives, Pari Malik studies the island map. She also emails Nathan Patrick, requesting that he review Moe'uhane's surveillance cameras, particularly if any are near the preserve's parking lot, on the nights before, during, and after Dee Lamar received her blackmail note.
They cross the island with relative ease, traveling before the morning rush hour begins in earnest, and arrive back at the ravine across from the lighthouse where Vicky's body was discovered by hikers. They evaluate both directions from that point—eastward and westward on Diamond Head Road—and determine that a pedestrian could possibly have snuck along the road, undetected in the middle of the night, moving at times behind trees and brush to avoid the glare of the streetlights.
